Herrera has hit a robust .336/.407/.564 with 15 doubles, three triples, and nine home runs over 53 games in the Double-A Eastern League. The 20-year-old is now a fringe-top 50 prospect. Herrera is on track to make his major-league debut at some point in late-2015, but it could be pushed back to 2016 due to the Mets' glut of second base candidates. Aug 21 - 9:46 AM

On the season, the right-handed batter is hitting .321/.376/.465 with nine home runs, 28 doubles, five triples and 22 stolen bases through 108 games. Expect him to be a fixture in prospect rankings headed into 2015.

His overwhelming success at the more advanced level has been a pleasant surprise, especially after he batted .307/.355/.410 in 67 games at High-A St. Lucie to begin the season. Overall, Herrera is batting .320/.373/.464 with 39 extra-base hits, 21 stolen bases and 55 RBI in 102 games between both stops.

Mets second base prospect Dilson Herrera went 3-for-5 with a home run for Double-A Binghamton on Saturday, raising his line to .353/.412/.566.

Herrera has seen his OPS increase every month, as he had a .718 OPS in April, a .790 OPS in May, an .852 OPS in June, and an 1.018 OPS so far in July. There has been buzz surrounding the idea of "selling high" on Daniel Murphy, but the Mets have seemed reluctant to trade their only All-Star.
Jul 27 - 11:51 AM

Mets prospect 2B Dilson Herrera went 3-for-4 with a home run and triple on Tuesday for Double-A Binghamton.

The three-hit performance extended Herrera's hitting streak to 10 games, during which he's batted a robust .447/.477/.842 with nine extra-base hits and 11 RBI. In general, the 20-year-old has been on fire since reaching Double-A late last month, with an impressive .359/.421/.581 batting line, 16 extra-base hits (four home runs), 26 RBI and five stolen bases in just 29 games. Jul 23 - 2:29 PM

Mets second base prospect Dilson Herrera went 3-for-5 with a double for Double-A Binghamton on Saturday.

Herrera has turned it up to 11 in the Double-A Eastern League, hitting .330/.394/.466 with six doubles and two home runs in 21 games. For the season, he has played approximately 2/3 of his games at second base and 1/3 at shortstop. He projects as a second baseman long term, and could be in Queens as soon as mid-2015.
Jul 13 - 11:14 AM

Mets second base prospect Dilson Herrera went 3-for-5 for Double-A Binghamton on Friday night.

Herrera has five singles in nine at bats for the Binghamton Mets. The Mets have a log jam at second base, with Daniel Murphy firmly entrenched as the starter, Eric Young, Jr. and Wilmer Flores as potential backups. Herrera is unlikely to reach the major leagues until the end of 2015, so a trade or two could give him an opportunity.
Jun 21 - 11:18 AM

Mets second base prospect Dilson Herrera has been promoted to Double-A Binghamton.

The 20-year old Herrera was acquired as part of the Marlon Byrd trade with the Pirates in late-August 2013. He put up a solid .307/.355/.410 with 16 doubles, two triples, and three home runs for High-A St. Lucie. In June, he played six of his 12 games at shortstop, and the Mets could view him as a short term fix for their shortstop situation, at least until Gavin Cecchini or Amed Rosario are ready.
Jun 19 - 8:40 AM

Mets second base prospect Dilson Herrera went 5-for-9 with a double and a hit by pitch in a doubleheader for High-A St. Lucie on Thursday.

The 20-year old Herrera is hitting .310/.359/.412 for the season, and is in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak during which he has hit .351/.415/.486. He has played approximately 1/3 of his games at shortstop in 2014, as the Mets are trying to see if there is a chance that he could play there long term.
Jun 13 - 8:38 AM

Mets second base prospect Dilson Herrera went 3-for-5 with a sacrifice fly and a stolen base for High-A St. Lucie on Friday.

Herrera is hitting .291/.343/.358 for the season, and his K/PA ratio has dropped from 23% to 14%, which is a big step in the right direction. Acquired from the Pirates in the Marlon Byrd trade, Herrera is at least three years away from Queens, but he could be a solid second baseman who hits .300 with a little power.
May 10 - 11:35 AM

Mets prospect 2B Dilson Herrera had a big game on Sunday, going 4-for-5 with a double for High-A St. Lucie.

The 20-year-old infielder was acquired late last summer from the Pirates in the Marlon Byrd deal, and batted .316 with three stolen bases in seven games for Low-A Savannah before the minor league season came to an end. Playing in the pitcher-friendly Florida State League this year Herrera is off to a hot start, batting .333/.391/.429 with three extra-base hits. He's still a few years away from reaching the major leagues, and will need to eliminate some of the swing-and-miss from his game (116/40 strikeout-to-walk ratio last year) along the way.
Apr 14 - 1:56 PM

Mets acquired INF Dilson Herrera and a player to be named later from the Pirates for OF Marlon Byrd, C John Buck and cash considerations.

Herrera, 19, was batting .265/.330/.421 with 11 home runs, 56 RBI, and 11 stolen bases in 109 games this season with the Pirates' Class A affiliate. Ranked as the Pirates' No. 11 prospect by MLB.com, the Columbia native has exclusively played second base this season. With his potential on offense and defense, he's a pretty solid get for New York.
