Mets optioned INF Dilson Herrera to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Wilmer Flores is set to take over as the starting second baseman, so Herrera is better off getting regular playing time in the minors. The 21-year-old is batting just .195/.290/.317 over 93 plate appearances at the major league level, but he still has a lot of long-term promise. Jun 30 - 2:25 PM

Mets manager Terry Collins said Sunday that the way Dilson Herrera has been playing, Daniel Murphy will be a third baseman when he returns from the disabled list.

Mets activated INF Dilson Herrera from the 15-day disabled list.

Herrera missed close to four weeks because of a fracture in his right middle finger. He's going to play regularly with all the injuries on the Mets' infield depth chart, and the 21-year-old warrants some attention in deeper mixed fantasy leagues. A top-100 prospect, Herrera boasts a .302/.367/.464 career minor league batting line.
