Brewers designated C Josmil Pinto for assignment.

The Brewers claimed Pinto off waivers from the Padres just before Christmas, but he's being shuffled off the 40-man roster to make room for incoming first baseman Chris Carter. Concussion fallout held the 26-year-old catcher to just 72 games played in the minors this past season. When he did manage his way onto the field, the backstop hit .228/.300/.369 in three minor league stops down in the Twins' system.

Padres claimed C Josmil Pinto off waivers from the Twins.

Pinto saw 169 at-bats with the catcher-strapped Twins in 2015, but he failed to do much with them. The 26-year-old catcher slashed .219/.315/.391 with seven homers and 18 RBI. The Padres are getting themselves a backstop with a nice bit of pop if nothing else.
