Rupp connected for his solo shot against Braves starter Casey Kelly in the second inning. He has himself a baby five-game hitting streak working and has five hits over his last eight at-bats. The 27-year-old backstop owns a just-fine .274/.296/.432 triple-slash with nine doubles, two homers and 10 RBI across 95 at-bats. May 22 - 6:09 PM

Cameron Rupp (ankle) is back in the Phillies' starting lineup on Wednesday versus the Marlins.

Rupp was held out for a couple of games after tweaking his left ankle and knee in a home-plate collision on Saturday. He's starting at catcher and batting sixth Wednesday afternoon against Marlins righty Tom Koehler.
May 18 - 1:18 PM

Cameron Rupp (ankle) might not return to the Phillies' starting lineup until Friday.

Rupp is still experiencing some soreness in his left ankle and knee stemming from a nasty home plate collision on Saturday. Philly has a scheduled team off day on Thursday and manager Pete Mackanin hinted to the media Tuesday that he might take advantage of it to get his catcher an extended period of rest.
May 17 - 4:26 PM

Cameron Rupp (ankle) is considered day-to-day.

Rupp is dealing with soreness in his left ankle and knee following Saturday's game-ending collision at home plate, but he's feeling better. Carlos Ruiz is starting behind the plate Monday and Andres Blanco will serve as the backup.
May 16 - 4:23 PM

Cameron Rupp is dealing with soreness in his left ankle.

Rupp was also tested for a concussion following Saturday's game-ending collision with the Reds' Eugenio Suarez, but he passed those tests. He should be fine in a day or two, but Carlos Ruiz is starting at catcher Sunday.
May 15 - 11:38 AM

Cameron Rupp hit a three-run double in the 10th inning in Thursday's win over the Braves.

With two outs and the sacks jacked, the catcher lined a double into the left-center gap to give the Phillies a lead they wouldn't relinquish. It was his only hit in five at-bats, and the runs batted in were his first since April 28. Rupp is batting .238/.256/.375 with one home run and seven RBI this year.
May 12 - 11:41 PM

Cameron Rupp delivered a go-ahead two-run double in the ninth inning as part of a 3-0 win over the Nationals.

The bases-loaded hit broke a scoreless tie. It was a catchable ball, but Bryce Harper took a strange route. Fortunately for the Phillies, it dropped in and bounced around the warning track. Rupp has now hit safely in seven straight games and owns a .280/.294/.480 batting line overall.
Apr 28 - 9:27 PM

Cameron Rupp went 2-for-4 on Saturday night versus the Nationals and connected with his first homer of the season, a solo shot in the fifth inning.

It's been a forgettable start to the season for the Phillies' starting backstop, but he showed a year ago that he could run into the occasional long ball. He's now hitting .259/.259/.444 on the season with Saturday's sole home run. Of course, he also has a troublesome 37.0 percent strikeout rate and didn't clear the Mendoza Line as recently as 2014.
Apr 16 - 10:09 PM

Cameron Rupp is not in the Phillies' lineup Sunday against the Mets.

Carlos Ruiz is behind the dish instead. Rupp is supposed to be the club's primary catcher this season, but he and Ruiz have each now started three games apiece.
Apr 10 - 10:07 AM

Phillies manager Pete Mackanin confirmed Monday that Cameron Rupp will be the team's primary catcher.

But veteran Carlos Ruiz is getting the Opening Day start on Monday versus the Reds. Rupp, 27, is a .227/.292/.353 career hitter at the major league level. It's a position to avoid for standard fantasy purposes.
Apr 4 - 12:30 PM

Cameron Rupp went 3-for-4 and hit a solo homer Friday versus the Pirates.

The guess was that the Phillies would give Carlos Ruiz more time than Rupp early on this year and then use Rupp more as the season went on. Rupp, though, could enter the season as the firm starter if this keeps up. He's 9-for-18 with three homers and two doubles this spring.
Mar 18 - 4:54 PM

Cameron Rupp hit a pair of homers Wednesday to lead a Phillies split-squad to a 4-2 win over the Twins.

Rupp took Tommy Milone and Casey Fien deep in the contest. It's unclear whether he'll be the Phillies' Opening Day catcher, but it'd be a surprise if he didn't get more at-bats than Carlos Ruiz for the club this year.
Mar 9 - 3:56 PM

Cameron Rupp blasted a solo home run in the second inning on Friday, accounting for all of the Phillies offense in a loss to the Marlins.

Rupp finished the evening 1-for-3 and also drew a walk. His towering blast off Williams Perez briefly tied the game at 1-1, but the Phillies offense would be unable to push any more runs across the plate. Rupp has done a nice job in a reserve role this season, slashing .241/.308/.397 with eight homers and 26 RBI.

Cameron Rupp went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run as the Phillies lost 9-4 to the Padres on Sunday.

Rupp made it a 2-1 game in the second inning with a solo home run to the opposite field off of James Shields. It's his fourth home run in his last six games, continuing a torrid month of August during which he is hitting .327 (18-for-55). Rupp is batting .254/.320/.426 overall with eight home runs and 34 RBI in 219 plate appearances.

Cameron Rupp homered and drove home four runs on Friday, leading the Phillies to a 7-1 victory over the Padres.

He got the Phillies on the board with an RBI ground out in the fourth inning, then capped off the scoring with a three-run blast off Odrisamer Despaigne in the eighth inning. Rupp finished the night 1-for-3 plus a walk and is now hitting .255/.316/.417 with seven homers and 23 RBI on the year.
