Cameron Rupp went 2-for-4 and pounded a three-run homer in a loss to the Nationals on Friday.
He went yard off reliever Koda Glover with two aboard to tie the game at four runs apiece in the eighth inning. It was a truly clutch piece of hitting but it went for naught as the Nationals walked off an inning later. Rupp has been a decent option for fantasy owners in a bleak catching landscape this season. He is batting .262 with 15 longballs and 48 RBI in 90 games. Sep 9 - 11:15 PM

Date:

Cameron Rupp is not in the Phillies' lineup Friday.

It's his second straight day off, as Rupp is hitless in his last 15 at-bats. A.J. Ellis is behind the dish.
Sep 2 - 5:42 PM

Cameron Rupp had a three-run homer and an RBI single to propel the Phillies to a 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

The Phillies won despite being outhit 10-6. Rupp had both of the team's extra-base hits in the game, and he has his average all of the way to up to .278 to go along with his 13 homers in 263 at-bats. Thought to be a stopgap as the Phillies waited for Jorge Alfaro to develop, Rupp has made a big argument for a starting job for the long haul.
Aug 6 - 2:02 AM

Cameron Rupp went 3-for-5 with an RBI single and two runs scored as the Phillies downed the Braves 9-5 on Saturday.

Rupp came through with an RBI single in the second inning to get the scoring started. It was a much-needed evening for the 27-year-old, who had just three hits in his previous 25 at-bats coming into the game. Rupp is putting together a good offensive season behind the dish, batting .273/.327/.470 with 10 homers and 30 RBI overall.
Jul 31 - 12:28 AM

Cameron Rupp (head) has returned to the Phillies' lineup Monday against the Marlins.

Rupp was hit in the head by a pitch on Saturday, but he passed MLB's concussion protocol and has been cleared to return. He'll bat fifth and catch Jeremy Hellickson.
Jul 25 - 4:52 PM

Cameron Rupp is showing no concussion symptoms.

That's great news. Rupp was pulled from Saturday's game against the Pirates after taking a 91 mph fastball from Tyler Glasnow off the side of his batting helmet. The 27-year-old catcher entered the day with an impressive .810 OPS and 10 home runs in 62 games.
Jul 23 - 5:50 PM

Cameron Rupp was pulled from Saturday's game against the Pirates after taking a pitch off his helmet.

The 91 mph fastball from Pirates rookie Tyler Glasnow caught Rupp right in the ear hole. He'll probably be put through MLB's concussion protocol. Look for an update Saturday night or Sunday morning. Rupp was 0-for-1 in the game, after going 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, and three RBI on Friday night.
Jul 23 - 5:15 PM

Cameron Rupp went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, and three RBI in Friday’s win over the Pirates.

Rupp got the Phillies on the board with a single in the sixth inning before adding a two-run homer for some insurance in the ninth. Expectations were modest coming into the year, but the 27-year-old quietly has 10 homers with an .810 OPS through 62 games. He’s gaining momentum in mixed fantasy leagues.
Jul 22 - 9:53 PM

Cameron Rupp went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's win over the Royals.

Rupp clocked a two-out, three-run homer off Royals starter Yordano Ventura in the first inning. The dinger was his eighth of the season and boosted his RBI total to 22. Those totals might seem relatively modest, but pair them with a .288/.323/.508 triple-slash and Rupp makes for a usable fantasy option, particularly in deeper NL-only formats.
Jul 3 - 5:16 PM

Cameron Rupp launched his seventh homer of the season, a two-run blast that lead the Phillies to victory over the Giants on Saturday.

Given the poor state of the catching landscape, Rupp's numbers make him borderline usable in fantasy starting lineups. He has a .270 batting average with a .789 OPS. His counting stats (16 runs and 18 RBI) are poor but at least he doesn't kill your team's batting average like many catchers do.
Jun 26 - 1:36 AM

Cameron Rupp went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Braves.

Rupp connected for his solo shot against Braves starter Casey Kelly in the second inning. He has himself a baby five-game hitting streak working and has five hits over his last eight at-bats. The 27-year-old backstop owns a just-fine .274/.296/.432 triple-slash with nine doubles, two homers and 10 RBI across 95 at-bats.
May 22 - 6:09 PM

Cameron Rupp (ankle) is back in the Phillies' starting lineup on Wednesday versus the Marlins.

Rupp was held out for a couple of games after tweaking his left ankle and knee in a home-plate collision on Saturday. He's starting at catcher and batting sixth Wednesday afternoon against Marlins righty Tom Koehler.
May 18 - 1:18 PM

Cameron Rupp (ankle) might not return to the Phillies' starting lineup until Friday.

Rupp is still experiencing some soreness in his left ankle and knee stemming from a nasty home plate collision on Saturday. Philly has a scheduled team off day on Thursday and manager Pete Mackanin hinted to the media Tuesday that he might take advantage of it to get his catcher an extended period of rest.
May 17 - 4:26 PM

Cameron Rupp (ankle) is considered day-to-day.

Rupp is dealing with soreness in his left ankle and knee following Saturday's game-ending collision at home plate, but he's feeling better. Carlos Ruiz is starting behind the plate Monday and Andres Blanco will serve as the backup.
May 16 - 4:23 PM

Cameron Rupp is dealing with soreness in his left ankle.

Rupp was also tested for a concussion following Saturday's game-ending collision with the Reds' Eugenio Suarez, but he passed those tests. He should be fine in a day or two, but Carlos Ruiz is starting at catcher Sunday.
