The 24-year-old backstop hit .289/.342/.340 with a homer and 25 RBI between Las Vegas and Double-A Binghamton this season. He'll provide nothing more than additional depth behind the plate over the final month of the season.

Travis d'Arnaud (concussion) is scheduled to return from the disabled list on Wednesday, so Centeno was no longer needed. He went 5-for-21 in his short stay.

Centeno will take the place of Travis d'Arnaud (concussion) on the active roster. The 24-year-old is mostly known for his excellent throwing arm and isn't a fantasy option.

Anthony Recker will serve as Travis d'Arnaud's backup this season, but Centeno still figures to see some time in the big leagues again at some point. Reid was claimed off waivers from the Pirates this offseason and will serve as bullpen depth in Triple-A.

Mets recalled C Juan Centeno from Triple-A Las Vegas.

This will be the first time in the big leagues for the 23-year-old backstop. He's had a nice season between Double-A and Triple-A, hitting .301/.339/.373 with 31 RBI and a 12/29 BB/K ratio in 236 at-bats. He'll provide additional depth behind the plate for the remainder of the season.
