Berry holds a 4.12 ERA with 53 strikeouts over 63 1/3 innings at Double-A this season as a starter, but he'll be used in relief with the O's. The southpaw will be a long man.

Berry was added to the 40-man roster in November after posting a 3.85 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 119/40 K/BB ratio through 152 innings last season with High-A Frederick. Baseball America recently ranked him as the organization's No. 6 prospect. He could become a mid-rotation starter if all goes well.

Orioles purchased the contract of LHP Tim Berry from High-A Frederick.

The southpaw had a 3.85 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 119/40 K/BB ratio through 152 innings and 27 starts with Frederick this season. He also enjoyed some success in the recently completed Arizona Fall League. Adding him to the 40-man roster protects him in December's Rule 5 Draft.

Orioles prospect Tim Berry continued his domination of the Arizona Fall League on Friday, hurling four scoreless innings in a victory over Scottsdale.

The 22-year-old southpaw surrendered three hits while punching out two in the game. He's now extended his scoreless innings streak to 10, and owns a 1.64 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through 11 innings on the Fall season. After a breakthrough season at High-A Frederick in 2013, Berry is expected to begin the 2014 campaign at Double-A Bowie.
