La Stella was placed on the disabled list two weeks ago with a strained hamstring. He's made steady progress and now it looks like La Stella could be back in the big leagues by the end of the month. Chris Coghlan, who was reacquired from the Athletics on Thursday, will take his spot on the active roster. Le Stella has done a nice job in limited playing time this year, hitting .291 with a .494 slugging percentage. It's unclear how much time he'll miss.

Drawing another start, the infielder had a double among his three hits, scoring twice on Ben Zobrist hits. Not only was he in the lineup, the 27-year-old occupied choice real estate batting second between Dexter Fowler and Kris Bryant. Cubs manager Joe Maddon seems content to ride the hot hand, and that's La Stella, who's now batting .341/.413/.561 in 16 games.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon indicated Thursday that Tommy La Stella could be in line for more playing time after the injury to Kyle Schwarber (ankle).

Jorge Soler is poised to receive most of the at-bats in left field, but Maddon said putting Kris Bryant in left and La Stella at third base is also an option. La Stella is worth owning in NL-only leagues.
