Eugenio Suarez was responsible for both Reds runs by hitting two solo homers Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
Suarez, who also walked in the contest, had as many homers today as in the previous month combined. He was one of the NL's better regulars through two months, but he's been well below average since. The Reds would be happy to see him get hot again. Jul 20 - 3:44 PM

Eugenio Suarez connected for a solo homer in Monday’s loss to the Nationals.

His second-inning homer against Stephen Strasburg was the only offense of the day for Cincinnati. Suarez is up to 13 homers on the year, but the great majority of his production came early on. He’s hitting .199 with four homers over his last 48 games.

His solo shot off of Junior Guerra in the third inning tied the game at 5-5. He also drew a pair of walks in the contest, finishing the night 1-for-2. Despite his recent slump, Suarez is still hitting .265/.365/.471 with 12 long balls and 42 RBI on the season.

Jun 25 - 10:48 AM

Eugenio Suarez went 0-for-3 with a walk in the loss to the Rays on Wednesday.

It's nice that Suarez is walking, because he's not doing a lot of hitting at the moment. He's come in at .245 with six homers in 47 games since the beginning of May after hitting .329 with five homers in 23 games in April. He has, however, walked 14 times in his last 20 starts, which is why his OBP is still really strong at .370.

Eugenio Suarez is getting the day off Thursday against the Cardinals.

Scooter Gennett will start at third base and bat sixth against Cardinals right-hander Mike Leake. It's just a routine day of rest for Suarez, who has an impressive .875 OPS with 10 home runs, 36 RBI, three stolen bases, and 36 runs scored in 57 games this season.
Jun 8 - 10:20 AM

Eugenio Suarez drove in three runs in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.

Suarez's bases-clearing triple opened the floodgates in the fourth inning. He also had a walk on the night and scored a pair of runs. His night was overshadowed a bit by Scooter Gennett's four-homer showing, however.
Jun 6 - 10:20 PM

Eugenio Suarez had a two-run double Monday in the Reds' 4-2 defeat of the Cardinals.

The Reds had just six hits all night, but four of them (and one of their two walks) came in a four-run seventh that was started off by a Billy Hamilton bunt single. Suarez's two-run hit tied the game, and Scooter Gennett immediately followed with a two-run double of his own. Suarez had driven in just one run in his previous 10 games.

Eugenio Suarez went 0-for-4 in the loss to the Cubs on Tuesday.

Suarez hit .371/.458/.742 over his first 18 games this year. In his last 19, he's come in at .216/.284/.311. He was so good early on that he still has an .873 OPS overall, but he's not likely to be more than a borderline mixed-league infielder over the rest of the season.
