Eugenio Suarez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Marlins.

The homer was Suarez's fourth of the season and he hit it off Reds starter Adam Conley with two outs in the second inning. While filling in for Zack Cozart (knee), Suarez has played well and is slashing a strong .326/.363/.500 with four homers, 14 RBI and three steals across 83 at-bats. The average is unlikely to stick at that level, but he's doing the job so far.
Jul 11 - 7:22 PM

Eugenio Suarez hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to break a tie and ultimately send the Reds to a win over the Nationals on Monday.

Suarez, in a 3-for-4 effort, took reliever Casey Janssen out to left field to break a 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth inning. He has done a commendable job filling in for Zack Cozart at shortstop, batting .329/.372/.493 with three home runs, 13 RBI, and three stolen bases since June 11.
Jul 6 - 10:23 PM

Eugenio Suarez hit his second home run of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Twins.

Suarez hit a solo shot off Phil Hughes in the third inning to get the Reds on the board. The homer was his second in 17 games this season. Suarez took over for Zack Cozart at shortstop and has held his own, hitting .328/.369/.475. Despite that, his offensive upside is limited and he can be ignored in most fantasy formats.
Jul 1 - 12:34 AM

Eugenio Suarez went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI, and two stolen bases as the Reds held on to beat the Twins on Monday.

Suarez had logged four straight multi-hit games between June 21-25 and did it again on Monday. He doubled in two runs in the third inning and singled in a run in the sixth in a slugfest. Suarez is filling in for the injured Zack Cozart and has done well thus far, batting .316/.361/.421 with nine RBI and three stolen bases in 62 plate appearances.
Jun 29 - 11:04 PM

Eugenio Suarez homered Saturday against the Cubs in his third game for the Reds.

The Reds did take a hit when they lost Zack Cozart, but it shouldn't be all that big of one, as long as Suarez stays healthy. He's the better hitter of the two, at the cost of some range on defense. It's unlikely that Suarez will have much value in mixed leagues, since he's not much of a basestealer, but he should be a fine NL-only middle infielder the rest of the way.
Jun 14 - 1:43 AM

Reds recalled SS Eugenio Suarez from Triple-A Louisville.

Zack Cozart suffered a season-ending knee injury on Wednesday, so the Reds will turn starting shortstop duties over to the 23-year-old Suarez. He has registered a decent .256/.348/.438 batting line with eight home runs and 25 RBI in 57 games this season for Louisville and could hold value in some mixed fantasy leagues.
Jun 11 - 3:00 PM

Reds optioned INF Eugenio Suarez to Triple-A Louisville.

Suarez, 23, was acquired from the Tigers over the winter in the Alfredo Simon deal. We should see him with the Reds soon, especially if Zack Cozart continues to struggle.
Mar 23 - 4:30 PM

Reds acquired INF Eugenio Suarez and RHP Jonathon Crawford from the Tigers for RHP Alfredo Simon.

Suarez batted just .242/.316/.336 in 277 plate appearances this past season for Detroit, but he's only 23 years old and should eventually unseat Zack Cozart as the Reds' starting shortstop. Suarez put up some promising offensive numbers in the minor leagues.

Eugenio Suarez belted a game-winning solo homer off Casey Janssen in the ninth inning, powering the Tigers to a 5-4 victory over the Blue Jays on Friday.

The Tigers entered the ninth inning trailing 5-3, but a one-out double by J.D. Martinez and a two-run homer by Nick Castellanos tied the game and set the stage for Suarez. The rookie shortstop has done a nice job in his first exposure to major league pitching, slashing .253/.333/.397 with four homers and 14 RBI in 146 at-bats.

Eugenio Suarez (knee) is out of the Tigers' starting lineup again on Wednesday evening.

Suarez also sat out Tuesday after leaving Monday's game with a sprained left knee. The Tigers are optimistic that it's a minor injury, but the young shortstop underwent an MRI and a more-exact diagnosis should be coming soon.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Tuesday that the club is "cautiously optimistic" Eugenio Suarez's left knee injury is "more short-term issue."

The club is still waiting on the MRI results, but Ausmus said that Suarez was "moving around extremely well" prior to Tuesday's game. He tweaked the knee on a stolen base Monday. Andrew Romine started at shortstop in Suarez's place Tuesday, but it sounds like the rookie will be back in there soon.

Eugenio Suarez (knee) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Yankees.

Suarez left Monday's game with a sprained left knee and it's not clear how long he'll be sidelined. Andrew Romine will fill in at shortstop Tuesday.
