May 19 - 10:53 PM

Eugenio Suarez went 0-for-4 in the loss to the Cubs on Tuesday.

Suarez hit .371/.458/.742 over his first 18 games this year. In his last 19, he's come in at .216/.284/.311. He was so good early on that he still has an .873 OPS overall, but he's not likely to be more than a borderline mixed-league infielder over the rest of the season.
May 16 - 11:55 PM

Eugenio Suarez went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored as the Reds demolished the Giants on Saturday.

He stroked an RBI double in the third, then swatted a solo homer in the fourth. Suarez has been one of the best fantasy third basemen around this year. He is slashing .333/.419/.627 with seven homers, 23 runs and 21 RBI through 29 games. He has also stepped up his game with the leather this year.
May 6 - 10:24 PM

Eugenio Suarez collected three hits and drove in three runs as the Reds routed the Giants on Friday night in Cincinnati.

Suarez delivered a run-scoring single in the first inning, then plated another pair with a single the following frame. He has been a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the Reds' lineup, slashing a robust .327/.416/.592 with six homers and 19 RBI on the season.
May 5 - 11:54 PM

Eugenio Suarez finished the day 1-for-3 with a three-run home run to guide the Reds over the Pirates on Wednesday.

The blast off Pirates' starter Jameson Taillon came in the first inning and provided enough runs for the Reds to win the game, although they would continue to pile on later. Suarez has been wielding a hot bat all season and now sits on a .322/.408/.611 triple slash with six home runs and 16 RBI.

Eugenio Suarez (neck) is in the Reds' starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Orioles.

Suarez was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with a stiff neck, but it's apparently no big deal. He'll start at third base and bat fifth versus O's right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez. Daily Slant: The match-up with Ubaldo Jimenez sets up well for speedy, low-ISO hitters like Billy Hamilton and Jose Peraza to consistently get on base where they should be able to wreak havoc. In 2016, Jimenez ranked second-worst among starting pitchers with a 10.35% SRAA (Swipe Rate Above Average), which judges the likeliness of a stolen base attempt being successful against a particular pitcher, and ranked fifth-worst among starting pitchers with a 3.79% TRAA (Takeoff Rate Above Average), which measures how often a stolen base attempt occurred. Piling on top of that, Billy Hamilton led the Majors with a 9.25% SRAA as a lead runner in 2016, while his teammate, Jose Peraza, currently ranks fourth-best with a 7.30% SRAA.
Apr 19 - 3:48 PM

Eugenio Suarez was scratched from the Reds' starting lineup Tuesday with a stiff neck.

Scooter Gennett will start at third base and bat seventh versus Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman. This doesn't sound like a serious issue for Suarez. He's day-to-day.
Apr 18 - 4:32 PM

Eugenio Suarez clubbed his third home run of the season in a losing effort against the Brewers on Sunday afternoon.

His two-run shot off of Wily Peralta in the fourth inning pulled the Reds to within a run at 3-2, but that's as close as they would get. Suarez finished the day 1-for-4. He's off to an outstanding start at the plate this season .364/.440/.705 with three homers and 10 RBI.
Apr 16 - 4:20 PM

Eugenio Suarez went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored as the Reds beat the Pirates 9-2 on Wednesday.

He came to the plate with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and cracked a double to bring them all home. He then came around to score a run of his own on a Scott Schebler double. Suarez has been swinging a hot bat, now rocking a .429/.529/.750 slash line with two homers, seven runs scored and eight RBI through 28 at-bats.
Apr 12 - 10:56 PM

Eugenio Suarez homered and walked three times as the Reds beat the Pirates 7-1 on Monday.

Suarez is 7-for-20 with two homers in the early going. He might just be a placeholder for Cincinnati, since the team drafted a polished college third baseman in Nick Senzel second overall last year, but he should be a solid regular in the bigs for a long time. The Reds might look into cashing him in this summer if he remains productive.
Apr 10 - 11:19 PM

Eugenio Suarez supplied two hits and drove in a pair of runs Saturday in the Reds' loss to the Cardinals.

He plated Joey Votto on a fourth-inning double before crushing a solo home run off Sam Tuivailala in the ninth inning. Suarez grounded out in his other two at-bats. Three of the 25-year-old's four hits this year have gone for extra bases.
Apr 8 - 8:00 PM
