Eugenio Suarez struck out all three times he was up Wednesday in the loss to the Dodgers.
Suarez was doing just fine as the Reds' No. 2 hitter last month, but coincidence or not, he's struggled ever since he was dropped in the order. He'll pick it up again eventually, but he's not in a great situation while hitting sixth or seventh for a bad Reds team. May 26 - 1:18 AM

Eugenio Suarez went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored against the Indians on Monday.

After cooling off significantly of late, Suarez has five hits (including two home runs) over his last two games. The 24-year-old is batting .257/.311/.457 with eight home runs, 23 RBI, and four stolen bases over 37 games overall. The batting average was never built to last, but his power should continue to come in handy in mixed leagues.
May 16 - 9:41 PM

Eugenio Suarez went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the Reds' 7-4 win over the Giants on Wednesday.

Suarez slugged a two-run homer off Giants starter Jake Peavy in the bottom of the second -- one of three homers in that frame versus Peavy. The third baseman then added an RBI single in the bottom of the third. Suarez has been slumping a bit since his hot start, but he now boasts six homers and 18 RBI in just 27 games.
May 4 - 3:28 PM

Eugenio Suarez had a huge day Saturday, finishing 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored in the Reds' lopsided 13-5 win over the Cubs.

Suarez hit a three-run blast off Cubs starter John Lackey to get the scoring started in what would be a seven-run inning for the Reds. He had previously delivered an RBI single, giving him 14 RBI to go with five home runs on the season. The 24-year-old has followed up on a promising 2015 showing with a .303/.361/.545 slash line through 17 games.
Apr 23 - 11:22 PM

Eugenio Suarez is out of the Reds' starting lineup Monday night against the Rockies.

Jordan Pacheco will start at third base and bat second versus Colorado right-hander Jordan Lyles. Suarez, 24, is slashing .319/.373/.596 with four home runs and 10 RBI in 12 games this season.
Apr 18 - 2:02 PM

Eugenio Suarez went 2-for-3 with a walk and stole his second base Wednesday against the Cubs.

Suarez entered the year with seven steals in 182 games as a major leaguer, but he's already got two in eight games in 2016. He's already perfectly solid elsewhere, so if he keeps stealing bases, too, he's a top-10 fantasy shortstop.
Apr 13 - 11:27 PM

Eugenio Suarez finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored in the Reds' 5-1 defeat of the Pirates on Saturday afternoon in Cincinnati.

The third baseman opened the game's scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning and then closed the game's scoring with a two-run homer off Kyle Lobstein in the bottom of the seventh. The hot start continues for Suarez, who's now batting .368/.455/.842 with three home runs and eight RBI through five regular-season games. He'll meet some natural regression soon, but there is quite a bit to like about the 24-year-old for fantasy purposes.
Apr 9 - 4:23 PM

Eugenio Suarez went 2-for-5 and hit a grand slam Thursday against the Phillies.

The slam came off Rule 5 pick Daniel Stumpf in his major league debut. Suarez also homered Wednesday. Unfortunately, the Reds won't play the Phillies again for a little while. Suarez should remain plenty solid, but he's not quite a top-10 fantasy shortstop, mostly because he doesn't steal bases.
Apr 7 - 3:58 PM

Eugenio Suarez went 2-for-4 with a solo homer Wednesday versus the Phillies.

Unless Devin Mesoraco returns to 2014 form, Suarez is probably going to be the Reds' second-best regular this year. Unfortunately, the steals won't be there to make him a fantasy stud, but he should be a decent mixed-league middle infielder anyway.
Apr 6 - 9:49 PM

Eugenio Suarez singled and walked twice in the Reds' 13-6 win over the Pirates on Saturday.

Suarez doesn't have the speed or power to be a fantasy stud, but he might be the Reds' second-best player right now. He ends the spring with a .356 average and 1.033 OPS. Mixed leaguers could do worse in that MI slot.
Apr 2 - 5:23 PM

Eugenio Suarez swatted a solo homer against Giants ace Madison Bumgarner on Friday.

Suarez quietly batted .280 with 13 home runs and a .761 OPS over 97 games last season. With Zack Cozart (knee) back in the fold and Todd Frazier now in Chicago, the Reds intend to give him an opportunity at third base this season. He still has shortstop-eligibility, so he’s a sneaky option in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.
Mar 4 - 6:01 PM

Eugenio Suarez finished 2-for-3 with two RBI in the Reds' 6-5 victory over the Indians on Tuesday.

It was the Cactus League opener for both clubs. Suarez doubled off Indians starter Josh Tomlin in the top of the first inning and then plated Tucker Barnhart and Jake Cave with his second double of the day in the top of the third. The 24-year-old Suarez was a nice surprise for the Reds in 2015, posting a .446 slugging percentage, 13 home runs, and 48 RBI in 97 games. He'll open the 2016 season as Cincinnati's primary starter at third base.
Mar 1 - 6:22 PM

Eugenio Suarez clobbered his 13th home run of the season and drove home three runs as the Reds fell to the Pirates in extra innings on Friday.

Suarez got the Reds on the board with two-run blast off Francisco Liriano in the second inning then capped off their offensive output with an RBI single the following frame. He finished the night 2-for-6. Suarez has seized the opportunity afforded to him with Zack Cozart's injury, slashing .281/.316/.450 with 13 long balls and 48 RBI.

Eugenio Suarez had an RBI single and a run scored Monday against the Pirates.

Suarez has done a really nice job filling in for Zack Cozart (knee) at shortstop, batting .291/.328/.475 with 11 home runs, 42 RBI, and four steals over 73 games. His success has largely flown under the radar in fantasy leagues. Cozart is expected to be ready for the start of the 2016 season, so something will have to give with this situation over the winter.
Mon, Sep 7, 2015 04:05:00 PM

Eugenio Suarez had a nice day at the dish as the Reds dropped the first game of Saturday's doubleheader to the Brewers, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Suarez got the Reds on the board with an RBI single in the second inning and replicated the feat again in the fifth. He has done a terrific job filling in for the injured Zack Cozart, slashing .291/.326/.481 with 11 homers and 41 RBI. He's certainly making a push for consideration to be the team's starting shortstop heading into the 2016 season.
