Jorge Polanco went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and an RBI double in Thursday's win over the Royals.

Polanco put the Twins on the board with his RBI single off Jason Hammel in the bottom of the second inning. He reared his head once more in the seventh inning, when he followed up an RBI double by Jason Castro with a run-scoring two-bagger of his own. Those two seventh-inning runs broke a 3-3 tie. The Twins would hold on through the final two innings to secure a season-opening sweep of the Royals. In his first true taste of major league action in 2016, the 23-year-old Polanco hit .282/.322/.424 with four homers, 27 RBI and four steals across 245 at-bats. Those in deeper AL-only formats should keep an eye on him, but given his age, he is probably a year or two off from reaching the peak of his potential.

Jorge Polanco hit a grand slam off the Orioles' Dylan Bundy in Sunday's game.

There doesn't seem to be any doubt about Polanco's status as the Twins' shortstop. We'll still have to wait and see where he bats. The early guess was that he'd hit second in between Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer, a great spot for his value. However, as it becomes more likely that Byron Buxton will lead off, likely leading to Mauer hitting second and Dozier hitting third, Polanco could find himself low in the order.
Mar 12 - 4:56 PM

Jorge Polanco homered, doubled and drove in four runs as the Twins and Orioles played to a 6-6 tie in 10 innings Thursday.

Although he'll almost certainly be a liability defensively, Polanco figures to be the Twins' regular shortstop this year and maybe their No. 2 hitter. The club would have preferred to use him at second, but no one made the kind of offer they wanted for Brian Dozier. Polanco doesn't have the power or speed to be a big-time fantasy infielder, but he should prove to be a pretty solid hitter for Minnesota.

Jorge Polanco hit a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the White Sox.

Polanco got the scoring started in the fourth inning with the two-run blast off White Sox starter James Shields. The 23-year-old has four homers and 26 RBI in 68 games this year while slashing .282/.335/.427.

Jorge Polanco went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in a loss to the White Sox on Friday.

Polanco has received an opportunity to serve as the starting shortstop down the stretch and has posted a solid .283/.336/.418 batting line for the year. The big question is whether he has shown enough defensively to stick there.

Jorge Polanco went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI in Tuesday's win over the Tigers.

Polanco took Matt Boyd deep in the third inning and then plated a couple more runs with a single in the fourth. He also added a double and scored a couple runs. Polanco has staked claim to the Twins' shortstop job down the stretch and has put up a nifty .298/.348/.442 batting line.

Jorge Polanco went 3-for-6 and added a stolen base against the Braves on Wednesday.

The trio of singles boosted his batting average to .320 in 97 at-bats. The 23-year-old rookie has been bounced back-and-forth from the majors to the minors several times over the last three seasons. He makes frequent contact and should have enough power to make him interesting in fantasy leagues.

Jorge Polanco will start at shortstop Monday against the Astros.

This will be his second straight start at shortstop. With Byron Buxton now in the minors, Eddie Rosario will start in center field while Danny Santana will play left.

Jorge Polanco finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI in the Twins' loss on Saturday.

He drove in two runs with a single in the ninth inning to draw the Twins within four, but that was as close as they could get. He is now batting .315/.377/.556 in 54 at-bats. He has been getting everyday playing time since being called up from Triple-A last week.

He's taking the spot of Eduardo Nunez, who was just traded to the Giants for left-handed pitching prospect Adalberto Mejia. He spent a little time with the Twins earlier this year, batting .231 with one homer and four RBI over 13 games for the big club.
