Twins recalled INF Jorge Polanco from Triple-A Rochester.

He'll serve as a backup infielder with Trevor Plouffe (intercostal) on the shelf. Polanco, 22, appeared in four games with the Twins last season and was batting .286 (10-for-35) with one homer and three doubles through his first 10 games at the Triple-A level this year.

Mar 18 - 9:14 AM

Jorge Polanco homered and doubled Wednesday as part of the Twins' 7-4 victory over the Red Sox.

Polanco debuted for the Twins as a 20-year-old in 2014, but he's played just five games in four stints with the club since. He wouldn't seem to be a threat to make the team this year, either, but he's still a fine prospect with a lengthy career ahead of him as either a starting shortstop or a utilityman.

Twins optioned INF Jorge Polanco to Double-A Chattanooga.

Polanco was only with the club for a couple of days to provide infield depth while Trevor Plouffe was away on paternity leave. He should get another chance with the big league club in September.

Twins SS prospect Jorge Polanco contributed four hits and a stolen base Sunday for Triple-A Rochester.

He's hitting a robust .366 since getting called up from Double-A Chattanooga earlier this month. Polanco had a two-game stint with Minnesota earlier this year but the Twins want him to improve his defense. The 22-year-old has committed a whopping six errors over his last 10 games.

Twins optioned INF Jorge Polanco to Double-A Chattanooga.

Polanco's stint with the club lasted one day as he filled in for Eddie Rosario, who was away from the team on paternity leave. The 21-year-old went 1-for-3 with a walk in the game. He'll likely get the call again later this year.

Darren Wolfson of 1500ESPN.com reports that the Twins will call up infield prospect Jorge Polanco from Double-A Chattanooga.

Polanco, who had a cup of coffee with the Twins last season, is batting .315/.346/.440 with four homers and 11 steals for Chattanooga this season. He's been playing shortstop there and could get a decent amount of time at the position with the Twins, although manager Paul Molitor seems infatuated with Eduardo Escobar.

Twins optioned INF Jorge Polanco to Double-A Chattanooga, optioned LHP Logan Darnell to Triple-A Rochester, reassigned INFs Argenis Diaz and Tyler Grimes, INF/OF Eric Farris, LHP Jason Wheeler, and RHPs Lester Oliveros and Adrian Salcedo to minor league camp.

Polanco had a breakout season in 2014, slashing .288/.353/.395 with seven homers, 61 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 131 games across two minor league levels. He also had a cup of coffee with the Twins in September and should get another opportunity with the big club in 2015. Oliveros is still working to regain his command after dealing with a shoulder issue, and should see time in the Twins bullpen during the season.

Twins prospect SS/2B Jorge Polanco went 3-for-6 with a home run and three RBI on Wednesday for Double-A New Britain.

The home run was Polanco’s first in 32 games with New Britain, though he’s still batted .289/.336/.352 with five doubles, 13 RBI and seven stolen bases during that span. The 21-year-old switch-hitter was promoted to the level after he batted .291/.364/.415 with 29 extra-base hits, 10 stolen bases and a 60-46 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 94 games at High-A Fort Myers. Polanco went 2-for-6 with a double and triple during a five-game stint with the Twins earlier in the season, so there’s a good chance he’s called up when rosters expand on Sept. 1.

Twins recalled INF Jorge Polanco from High-A Fort Myers.

Polanco had a double and a triple in five at-bats with the Twins earlier this season, but he's doubtful to carry fantasy relevance. Polanco is taking the roster spot left vacant by Thursday's Kendrys Morales trade.
