He's hitting a robust .366 since getting called up from Double-A Chattanooga earlier this month. Polanco had a two-game stint with Minnesota earlier this year but the Twins want him to improve his defense. The 22-year-old has committed a whopping six errors over his last 10 games.

Jun 9 - 11:34 PM

Darren Wolfson of reports that the Twins will call up infield prospect Jorge Polanco from Double-A Chattanooga.

Polanco, who had a cup of coffee with the Twins last season, is batting .315/.346/.440 with four homers and 11 steals for Chattanooga this season. He's been playing shortstop there and could get a decent amount of time at the position with the Twins, although manager Paul Molitor seems infatuated with Eduardo Escobar.
Jun 9 - 10:17 PM

Twins optioned INF Jorge Polanco to Double-A Chattanooga, optioned LHP Logan Darnell to Triple-A Rochester, reassigned INFs Argenis Diaz and Tyler Grimes, INF/OF Eric Farris, LHP Jason Wheeler, and RHPs Lester Oliveros and Adrian Salcedo to minor league camp.

Polanco had a breakout season in 2014, slashing .288/.353/.395 with seven homers, 61 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 131 games across two minor league levels. He also had a cup of coffee with the Twins in September and should get another opportunity with the big club in 2015. Oliveros is still working to regain his command after dealing with a shoulder issue, and should see time in the Twins bullpen during the season.
Mar 15 - 4:39 PM

Twins prospect SS/2B Jorge Polanco went 3-for-6 with a home run and three RBI on Wednesday for Double-A New Britain.

The home run was Polanco’s first in 32 games with New Britain, though he’s still batted .289/.336/.352 with five doubles, 13 RBI and seven stolen bases during that span. The 21-year-old switch-hitter was promoted to the level after he batted .291/.364/.415 with 29 extra-base hits, 10 stolen bases and a 60-46 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 94 games at High-A Fort Myers. Polanco went 2-for-6 with a double and triple during a five-game stint with the Twins earlier in the season, so there’s a good chance he’s called up when rosters expand on Sept. 1.

The 21-year-old was only with the Twins as emergency infield depth and didn't get an at-bat during his brief stay. Prior to his promotion, he was hitting .291/.364/.415 with six homers, 45 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 94 games at High-A Fort Myers.

Twins recalled INF Jorge Polanco from High-A Fort Myers.

Polanco had a double and a triple in five at-bats with the Twins earlier this season, but he's doubtful to carry fantasy relevance. Polanco is taking the roster spot left vacant by Thursday's Kendrys Morales trade.

Twins infield prospect Jorge Polanco went 3-for-4 with a double and a walk on Monday in his return to High-A Fort Myers.

Polanco is hitting .296/.369/.412 in the Florida State League (and .400/.571/1.000 in the American League), and could be in line for a promotion to Double-A New Britain within the next few weeks. He has spent the lion's share of his time at shortstop in 2014, but is likely a second baseman long term due to defensive concerns.

Twins optioned INF Jorge Polanco to High-A Fort Myers.

Polanco was only up in the majors for the weekend. The 20-year-old had a double and a triple in five at-bats, but he was never expected to be around long. Polanco can now continue a normal progression through the minors.
Mon, Jun 30, 2014 03:19:00 PM

Twins purchased the contract of INF Jorge Polanco from High-A Fort Myers.

This is quite a jump for the 20-year-old Polanco, who has never taken an at-bat above High-A ball. He is a versatile defender -- capable of playing all around the infield -- but had a relatively underwhelming .289/.363/.404 batting line through 329 plate appearances this season for Fort Myers. Polanco is doubtful to carry any fantasy relevance.
Thu, Jun 26, 2014 01:33:00 PM

Twins prospect Jorge Polanco went 2-for-5 for High-A Fort Myers, raising his season line to .294/.365/.412.

Polanco has two hits in each of his last five games as part of an eight-game hitting streak. He has also spent the entire season playing shortstop (save three games at DH), where he has 21 errors. It is unclear if he will be able to play shortstop long term, but the Twins are going to give him all the time he needs to see if it is a viable option.

Twins prospect 2B Jorge Polanco was 2-for-4 with a double and grand slam on Thursday for High-A Fort Myers.

The 20-year-old switch hitter is batting .333/.429/.486 with eight extra-base hits and an impressive 8/11 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 19 games this season. Polanco turned in an impressive full-season debut last year at Low-A Cedar Rapids, posting an .813 OPS with 47 extra-base hits and 59/42 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 115 games. His mature plate approach and knack for making consistent contact gives Polanco a bright future as a big-league second baseman, but don't expect him to get the call until mid-to-late 2015, at the earliest.
