Twins activated SS Jorge Polanco from the bereavement list.

Polanco was excused from the club last week following a death in his family. The young shortstop returns Monday to a .251/.299/.358 season slash line.

Twins placed SS Jorge Polanco on the bereavement list.

Polanco was scratched from the Twins' starting lineup Tuesday night in Seattle following a death in his family. He'll be away from the club for a couple more games.
Jun 7 - 1:31 PM

Jorge Polanco has been scratched from the Twins' lineup Tuesday due to a death in his family.

Polanco could be placed on the bereavement list so that the Twins don't have to play a man short while he's gone. Ehire Adrianza is starting at shortstop Tuesday night against the Mariners.
Jun 6 - 7:05 PM

Jorge Polanco went 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI against the Orioles on Monday.

Even though he's been really good at avoiding the strikeout, Polanco's season has been pretty meh so far, as he's hitting .268 with just two homers in 137 at-bats. Still, his defense at shortstop has been better than expected, especially considering that Twins gave up on him at that position going into last year.
May 22 - 11:11 PM

Jorge Polanco delivered a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th inning to lead the Twins to a 4-3 win over the Royals on Friday.

The game-winner was set in motion after Al Albuquerque walked Joe Mauer and Ehire Adrianza to begin the frame. Royals manager Ned Lost then turned to Travis Wood, who walked Max Kepler before Polanco lined out to left and Mauer scampered home. Polanco went 1-for-4 on the night and is batting .248/.301/.364 with two homers and 17 RBI through 34 games this season.
May 20 - 1:06 AM

Jorge Polanco hit his second home run of the season Sunday in the Twins' loss to the Indians.

It was a solo shot in the top of the seventh off Indians starter Trevor Bauer. Polanco finished the day 1-for-4 and is batting .254/.308/.373 on the season.
May 14 - 4:21 PM

Jorge Polanco went 0-for-4 on Friday, dropping his average to .243.

Polanco got off to a nice start offensively, but he hasn't kept it up the last couple of weeks and he's now sporting just a .661 OPS. Since he lacks range at shortstop, he has to hit in order to help the Twins. Still, the team won't be quick to bench him, even if it seems Eduardo Escobar might be the superior option.
Apr 29 - 1:05 AM

Jorge Polanco will hit third in the Twins' order Tuesday versus the Tigers.

Polanco slides up in the order with Joe Mauer getting a breather. The 23-year-old is hitting .389 (7-for-18) with one homer and two doubles over five games to begin the year.
Apr 11 - 10:42 AM

Jorge Polanco went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and an RBI double in Thursday's win over the Royals.

Polanco put the Twins on the board with his RBI single off Jason Hammel in the bottom of the second inning. He reared his head once more in the seventh inning, when he followed up an RBI double by Jason Castro with a run-scoring two-bagger of his own. Those two seventh-inning runs broke a 3-3 tie. The Twins would hold on through the final two innings to secure a season-opening sweep of the Royals. In his first true taste of major league action in 2016, the 23-year-old Polanco hit .282/.322/.424 with four homers, 27 RBI and four steals across 245 at-bats. Those in deeper AL-only formats should keep an eye on him, but given his age, he is probably a year or two off from reaching the peak of his potential.
Apr 6 - 4:31 PM

Jorge Polanco hit a grand slam off the Orioles' Dylan Bundy in Sunday's game.

There doesn't seem to be any doubt about Polanco's status as the Twins' shortstop. We'll still have to wait and see where he bats. The early guess was that he'd hit second in between Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer, a great spot for his value. However, as it becomes more likely that Byron Buxton will lead off, likely leading to Mauer hitting second and Dozier hitting third, Polanco could find himself low in the order.
Mar 12 - 4:56 PM

Jorge Polanco homered, doubled and drove in four runs as the Twins and Orioles played to a 6-6 tie in 10 innings Thursday.

Although he'll almost certainly be a liability defensively, Polanco figures to be the Twins' regular shortstop this year and maybe their No. 2 hitter. The club would have preferred to use him at second, but no one made the kind of offer they wanted for Brian Dozier. Polanco doesn't have the power or speed to be a big-time fantasy infielder, but he should prove to be a pretty solid hitter for Minnesota.
Mar 2 - 5:20 PM

Jorge Polanco hit a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the White Sox.

Polanco got the scoring started in the fourth inning with the two-run blast off White Sox starter James Shields. The 23-year-old has four homers and 26 RBI in 68 games this year while slashing .282/.335/.427.

Jorge Polanco went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in a loss to the White Sox on Friday.

Polanco has received an opportunity to serve as the starting shortstop down the stretch and has posted a solid .283/.336/.418 batting line for the year. The big question is whether he has shown enough defensively to stick there.

Jorge Polanco went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI in Tuesday's win over the Tigers.

Polanco took Matt Boyd deep in the third inning and then plated a couple more runs with a single in the fourth. He also added a double and scored a couple runs. Polanco has staked claim to the Twins' shortstop job down the stretch and has put up a nifty .298/.348/.442 batting line.
