Marlins acquired RHP Kendry Flores and RHP Luis Castillo from the Giants for INF Casey McGehee.

The 23-year-old hurler has a good feel for pitching and pinpoint command and is coming off a 2014 campaign where he registered a 4.09 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 112/32 K/BB ratio in 105 2/3 frames at High-A San Jose. He should begin the 2014 season at Double-A.

Juan C. Rodriguez of the Miami Sun Sentinel reports that the Marlins will receive minor league right-handers Kendry Flores and Luis Castillo from the Marlins in exchange for Casey McGehee.

The 23-year-old Flores spent the 2014 season as a starter at High-A San Jose where he posted a 4.09 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 112/32 K/BB ratio over 105 2/3 innings. He has plenty of talent, though is still a long way away from being an option at the major league level.

Giants prospect RHP Kendry Flores was dominant on Sunday, striking out 13 batters while allowing two runs in seven innings for High-A San Jose.

The 22-year-old yielded only three hits in the outing (though two of them left the yard) and also walked a batter. Flores was shaky over the season's first two months, posting a 5.94 ERA, .827 opponents' OPS (a product of nine home runs allowed) and 49-18 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 50 innings (10 starts). However, the right-hander has taken a step in the right direction in his three June starts, registering a 2.04 ERA and 27-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 17 2/3 innings.

Giants prospect RHP Kendry Flores dominated on Tuesday, allowing three hits and a walk with nine strikeouts in six shutout innings for High-A San Jose.

Flores, 22, was signed by the Giants in 2009 and spent four years in the system before making his full-season debut last year. Making 22 starts for Low-A Augusta, Flores posted a 2.73 ERA and stellar 137/17 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 141.2 innings. Pitching in the hitter-friendly California League this year, the right-hander owns a 3.00 ERA and 18/3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 18 innings. Flores is still a few years away from reaching the major leagues, but his excellent command, age and spot on the Giants' 40-man roster should help him begin to move up the ladder this season.

Giants optioned LHP Jose De Paula and LHP Mike Kickham to Triple-A Fresno; optioned RHP Kendry Flores and RHP Hunter Strickland to High-A San Jose; reassigned RHP Jason Berken and RHP Mitch Lively to minor league camp.

Flores, added to the 40-man roster in November, went 10-6 with a 2.73 ERA and 0.92 WHIP over 141-plus innings at Class-A Augusta. The Giants claimed De Paula off waivers from the Padres in November. He and Kickham will provide bullpen insurance at the Triple-A level.

Giants purchased the contract of RHP Kendry Flores from Class-A Augusta.

It was a no-brainer, as the 21-year-old went 10-6 with a 2.73 ERA and 0.92 WHIP over 141-plus innings at Augusta. He's probably at least two years away from the big leagues.
