Dodgers placed RHP Yimi Garcia on the 60-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.

Garcia is being shifted over to the 60-day DL in order to free up a roster spot for Sergio Romo. After undergoing Tommy John surgery in October, Garcia is expected to miss the entirety of the 2017 campaign.
Feb 15 - 6:18 PM

The Dodgers are expected to move Yimi Garcia (elbow) to the 60-day disabled list.

The move will be made once Sergio Romo's contract is made official, as it will clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Garcia had Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in October and will miss the entire 2017 season.
Feb 15 - 3:22 PM

The Dodgers announced Thursday that Yimi Garcia underwent Tommy John surgery on his elbow on October 27.

He'll miss the entire 2017 season as a result. It's brutal news for Garcia, who only pitched only 8 1/3 innings in the majors this year and missed long stretches of time with a biceps injury and eventually knee surgery. Prior to getting hurt he was emerging as a viable late-inning reliever with high strikeout rates and low walk rates. He had a 3.34 ERA and 68/10 K/BB ratio in 56 2/3 innings in 2015. The good news is that he's just 26 years old, so he'll have an opportunity to bounce back.

Dodgers activated RHP Yimi Garcia from the 60-day disabled list.

It was a procedural move. Garcia missed most of the year with a right biceps injury and underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in September.

Yimi Garcia recently underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

He needed to have a small bone fragment removed from his knee. Garcia was already out for the year with a biceps injury so this ultimately won't have much of an impact on his status. It's unclear if Garcia will be ready for spring training, though that's obviously the hope.

Yimi Garcia (biceps) is scheduled to pitch in his second minor league rehab game with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday.

Garcia will start the game and work two innings. He'll need quite a few appearances before he's deemed ready to rejoin the Dodgers bullpen. The Dodgers believe that Garcia, who's expected to return in mid-August, can be an impact addition down the stretch.

Yimi Garcia (biceps) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

He's expected to pitch one inning in what will be his first meaningful appearance since late April. Garcia boasts a 3.12 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 81/12 K/BB ratio through 75 career major league innings and is capable of providing a sneaky boost for the Los Angeles bullpen down the stretch.

Yimi Garcia (biceps) resumed throwing off a mound this past week.

Garcia has been out since late April while battling a right biceps ailment that's resulted in numbness in his pitching arm. There's no timetable for his return.

Dodgers transferred RHP Yimi Garcia from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Julio Urias. Garcia remains out indefinitely while recovering from numbness in his pitching arm.

Yimi Garcia (biceps) still hasn't been cleared for any activity.

Manager Dave Roberts said the Dodgers are "beside ourselves on the lack of progress." Garcia went on the disabled list with what appeared to be a pretty routine biceps injury last month but is still no closer to making his return. Garcia had a respectable 3.24 ERA in nine appearances before getting hurt.

Yimi Garcia (biceps) has yet to resume throwing.

Garcia has been out for over two weeks with numbness in his pitching arm. It's unclear when he might be able to throw again.

Dodgers placed RHP Yimi Garcia on the 15-day disabled list with right biceps soreness.

Garcia said his arm "feels asleep" from the top of his bicep all the way down to his wrist. Fortunately the team's medical staff doesn't believe he'll need an MRI. Zach Lee was called up to replace him in the Dodgers' bullpen. Garcia pitched nine of the Dodgers' first 17 games, compiling a 3.24 ERA over 8 1/3 innings.

Yimi Garcia was forced to leave Friday's game against the Rockies with an apparent arm injury.

It's unclear exactly what the injury is that he sustained at this point, but Garcia was seen shaking his arm after throwing his final pitch. The Dodgers should have an update on his status after the conclusion of Saturday's game.

Yimi Garcia (knee) will return to Cactus League action on Sunday.

Garcia hasn't pitched in a week due to a minor knee injury, but he was cleared to return after throwing a bullpen session Saturday with no issues. He'll be used in middle relief by the Dodgers this season.
