Aaron Barrett has been placed on the 7-day disabled list at Triple-A Syracuse due to back spasms.
It shouldn't prevent him from being a September call-up for the Nationals. The 26-year-old has posted a 9.45 ERA over 10 appearances in the majors this year. Aug 18 - 5:30 PM

Nationals recalled RHP Aaron Barrett from Triple-A Syracuse.

Barrett allowed one hit and fanned six batters over 4 1/3 scoreless innings during his first stint with the big club earlier this season. Xavier Cedeno was sent down to Triple-A to clear a spot for him on the active roster.

Nationals optioned RHP Aaron Barrett to Triple-A Syracuse.

Barrett had allowed just one hit and fanned six batters over 4 1/3 scoreless innings, but the Nationals badly needed a fresh arm for their overused bullpen. The 26-year-old right-hander should be back up soon.
Apr 12 - 5:07 PM

Aaron Barrett whiffed Giancarlo Stanton -- the only batted he faced -- in Thursday's win over the Marlins.

Barrett got Stanton to chase a slider off the plate with two outs in the eighth inning in what was a 2-1 game at the time. The 26-year-old has been awfully impressive in the early going, spinning four shutout innings while striking out six and allowing no hits. Nationals manager Matt Williams has shown that he already trusts Barrett to handle a late-inning role.
Apr 10 - 7:21 PM

Aaron Barrett has made the Nationals' bullpen.

It'll be the first taste of the majors for Barrett, who registered a promising 2.15 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 69 strikeouts in 50 1/3 innings last season at Double-A Harrisburg. He'll start out in middle relief but could move quickly into a setup role.
Mar 25 - 5:45 PM

Nationals purchased the contract of RHP Aaron Barrett from Double-A Harrisburg.

He's now protected from the Rule 5 Draft. Barrett was terrific at Harrisburg this past season, putting up a 2.15 and 69/15 K/BB ratio across 50 1/3 innings. He'll likely begin 2014 at Triple-A.
