Mike Wright was lit up for six runs in three-plus innings by the Red Sox on Wednesday.
Wright opened his major league career with 14 1/3 scoreless innings in his first two starts in May. Since then, he's given up 30 runs in 28 1/3 innings. He certainly isn't making a case for a spot in Baltimore's rotation next year. Sep 16 - 10:50 PM

Mike Wright was hit hard in a no-decision against the Royals on Friday, giving up four runs on four hits in five-plus innings.

Wright walked two and struck out two in the ballgame. Lorenzo Cain was responsible for inflicting most of the damage against him, blasting a pair of solo home runs. The 25-year-old has struggled in his 39 2/3 innings with the Orioles this season, registering a 5.45 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. He'll once again head in search of his third victory when he takes on the Red Sox on Wednesday.
Sep 11 - 11:12 PM

Mike Wright struggled in a losing effort against the Blue Jays on Saturday, surrendering three runs on seven hits over his four innings of work.

Wright struck out four and walked one on the afternoon. Jose Bautista was responsible for most of the damage against him, blasting a solo homer in the first inning and an RBI double in the third. He'll carry a 5.19 ERA and 1.44 WHIP into Friday's start against the Royals.
Sep 5 - 3:58 PM

Orioles activated RHP Mike Wright from the 15-day disabled list.

Wright has been sidelined since July 31 with a right calf strain. While he just threw 65 pitches in a minor league rehab appearance on Tuesday, he's a candidate to start against the Blue Jays on Saturday. The 25-year-old has a 4.99 ERA and 19/11 K/BB ratio in 30 2/3 innings over six starts and one relief appearance this season.
Sep 3 - 5:49 PM

Mike Wright (calf) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

He's slated to throw five innings. Wright will likely be ready for activation when rosters expand and could help the Orioles out of the bullpen.
Aug 24 - 6:57 PM

Mike Wright (calf) will throw a simulated game on Saturday.

Wright, out all month with a right calf strain, is slated to throw 45 pitches over three innings. Barring any setbacks, the 25-year-old should rejoin the O's in September.
Aug 20 - 5:03 PM

Mike Wright (calf) threw off a half-mound on Monday.

He'll throw a full bullpen session on Wednesday. Wright has been out all month with a right calf strain but will likely return in September for the Orioles.
Aug 17 - 8:40 PM

Mike Wright (calf) reported no issues when throwing off of flat ground on Monday.

Wright threw the ball from 75 feet out. He hit the DL with a right calf strain on August 1. Assuming there are no setbacks, he could rejoin the O's within the next two weeks.
Aug 10 - 9:10 PM

Orioles placed RHP Mike Wright on the 15-day disabled list with a right calf strain.

Wright sustained the injury in Friday's game against the Tigers. He should be ready to return to the O's bullpen in mid-August. Jorge Rondon was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move.
Aug 1 - 3:33 PM

Mike Wright was forced to leave Friday's game against the Tigers with a left calf cramp.

Wright was called in early to replace a struggling Wei-Yin Chen, then was forced to become a spectator himself after working a scoreless inning. He should be considered day-to-day.
Jul 31 - 8:51 PM

Orioles recalled RHP Mike Wright from Triple-A Norfolk.

He's taking Tommy Hunter's spot on the roster and will pitch out of the bullpen. Wright holds a 5.16 ERA over 29 2/3 innings for the big club this season.
Jul 31 - 4:51 PM

Orioles optioned RHP Mike Wright to Triple-A Norfolk.

Wright was likely on his way out of the Orioles rotation anyways with Kevin Gausman returning on Saturday, but Friday's clunker against the Blue Jays may have been the final nail in his coffin. He'll continue to serve as organizational rotation depth.
Jun 20 - 11:19 AM

Mike Wright was knocked around in Friday's loss to the Blue Jays, surrendering four runs on three hits in just 1 1/3 innings.

Wright struggled badly with his command, issuing four walks while striking out one in the abbreviated outing. Two of his walks came with the bases loaded in the second inning, leading to his departure. With a 5.16 ERA on the season, it's unlikely that Wright remains in the O's rotation much longer.
Jun 19 - 10:37 PM

Mike Wright failed to give the Orioles depth in Sunday's loss to the Yankees, yielding five runs over four-plus innings.

Wright was called up from Triple-A to fill in for the ailing Miguel Gonzalez (groin). He pitched well enough through four innings, but had already thrown close to 100 pitches at that point. The fifth inning would be his undoing. Wright walked three straight batters to open the frame before giving way to reliever Brian Matusz, who subsequently allowed all three of those runs to score. In four starts earlier this season, Wright went 2-1 with a 2.96 ERA. He makes for a decent option in streaming formats. A road start against the Blue Jays is up next on the schedule.
Jun 14 - 5:32 PM

Mike Wright will start Sunday's game against the Yankees as long as he doesn't pitch Saturday.

The Orioles called him up from Triple-A Norfolk Thursday to replace injured starter Miguel Gonzalez (groin). Wright pitched well in his first taste of the big leagues earlier this year, going 2-1 with a 2.96 ERA across four starts. The right-hander fanned 16 hitters over that stretch, but also allowed four home runs.
