Odrisamer Despaigne left Thursday's game against the Brewers with a right forearm strain.

He allowed three hits and two runs in 2/3 of an inning before exiting. Injuries of this nature usually require a stint on the disabled list. The right-hander owns a 2-0 record for the Fish, though he carries an ERA north of six.
Apr 19 - 11:22 PM

Marlins manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday that Odrisamer Despaigne is being moved to the bullpen.

Despaigne gave up five runs (four earned) over five innings in a start against the Cubs on Saturday. The Marlins have some off-days coming up and can afford to go with a four-man rotation for the time being.
Apr 3 - 3:25 PM

Odrisamer Despaigne yielded five runs (four earned) on six hits over five innings while taking a no-decision in Saturday's 10-inning loss to the Cubs.

Despaigne struck out six and walked two over his five innings of work. The Marlins handed him a 2-0 lead after one inning, but that was squandered almost immediately, as he surrendered a two-run home run to Kyle Schwarber in the top of the second inning. The Cubs would work him over for three more runs in the fifth inning to send him to the showers. The 30-year-old right-hander could see time in both the bullpen and rotation as needed this season, but the Marlins are rolling with him in the latter capacity to start. He closed the 2017 season posting three consecutive quality starts. While he's certainly a usable real-life arm for Derek Jeter's new outfit, there's not much to love in terms of fantasy when it comes to Despaigne. A road outing against the Phillies shows next on his schedule.
Mar 31 - 11:21 PM

Odrisamer Despaigne allowed two runs over four innings in a Grapefruit League start Sunday versus the Astros.

Despaigne struck out four and looked sharp over the first three innings, but he gave up solo homers to both Carlos Correa and Marwin Gonzalez in the top of the fourth. The 30-year-old right-hander is seemingly locked into a spot in the Marlins' rotation, but he should be avoided in standard fantasy formats.
Mar 25 - 3:23 PM

Odrisamer Despaigne was perfect for three innings, striking out four, as the Marlins beat the Nationals 3-1 on Wednesday.

The Marlins would probably prefer that some of their pitchers with more upside claim rotation spots, but Despaigne is one of the team's most reliable arms and he'll probably be needed in both the rotation and in middle relief this year. He's pitched five scoreless innings now.
Feb 28 - 4:34 PM

Odrisamer Despaigne held the Braves to two runs over seven innings in a win Saturday.

In his last start of 2017, Despaigne went out strong, giving up seven hits and a walk while striking out six. The quality start was the third in a row to close the year, lowering his ERA to 4.01 in 58 1/3 innings of work. As his ERA suggests, Despaigne actually acquitted himself quite well this year after struggling at the major league level in both 2015 and 2016. He could push for a spot in the back end of the Marlins' rotation next spring.

Odrisamer Despaigne notched his first win for the Marlins by pitching six innings of two-run ball against the Rockies on Monday.

Despaigne had been 0-3 in six starts and 13 relief appearances for the Marlins since the team acquired him late last year. He'll probably get one more start this weekend as he bids to keep his 40-man roster spot this winter.

Odrisamer Despaigne yielded five earned runs over just 3 2/3 innings Sunday in the Marlins' loss to the Braves.

Atlanta didn't grab the lead for good until Lane Adams' walkoff two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning, allowing Despaigne to escape with a no-decision. The right-hander issued a whopping six walks and he also gave up four hits. For the season, he's now sporting a 4.38 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. His last win at the major league level came back in 2015 with the Padres.

Odrisamer Despaigne lost despite limiting the Nationals to one run in seven innings Tuesday.

Despaigne got his first ever save last month, but he's still looking for his first win since 2015. He's pitched well enough to get it in two of his three starts since joining the rotation in late August, but the Marlins aren't scoring for him right now.
Tue, Sep 5, 2017 10:15:00 PM

Odrisamer Despaigne lasted just four innings Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits in a loss to the Phillies.

It wasn't a picture of efficiency for Despaigne, who needed 90 pitches to get through his four innings. Along with the five hits allowed, two walks and three strikeouts added to the pitch count. The loss was his second of the year and the first since May 6. Through 12 appearances, including three starts, the 30-year-old has a 4.13 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. A difficult matchup with the Nationals is on tap for Tuesday.

Odrisamer Despaigne kept the Padres to one run over six innings but settled for a no-decision Saturday.

Against his former team, the 30-year-old exacted revenge by allowing just three hits and two walks in his six innings. It was just his second start of the year and his 11th appearance, owning a 3.70 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 24 1/3 innings. Despaigne will return to a relief role after Saturday.
Sun, Aug 27, 2017 12:33:00 AM

Odrisamer Despaigne will make a spot start for the Marlins on Saturday versus the Padres.

Despaigne holds a 4.42 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and 12/10 K/BB ratio in 18 1/3 innings -- one start, nine relief appearances -- this season with Miami. He's not a recommended fantasy streamer against his former team.

Odrisamer Despaigne picked up his first career save with a flawless ninth inning Sunday against the Rockies.

Brad Ziegler needed a day off after working Friday and Saturday, but it was a surprise that Despaigne, who had spent most of this year in the minors, was the choice to replace him. It was just his fifth relief appearance as a Marlin and the second in which he came into a game with a lead (the first was a 7-0 game). It worked out fine, obviously.
Sun, Aug 13, 2017 06:05:00 PM

Marlins recalled RHP Odrisamer Despaigne from Triple-A New Orleans.

Despaigne holds a 7.94 ERA over two appearances for the Marlins this season. He'll operate in a long relief role.
