Odrisamer Despaigne held the Braves to two runs over seven innings in a win Saturday.
In his last start of 2017, Despaigne went out strong, giving up seven hits and a walk while striking out six. The quality start was the third in a row to close the year, lowering his ERA to 4.01 in 58 1/3 innings of work. As his ERA suggests, Despaigne actually acquitted himself quite well this year after struggling at the major league level in both 2015 and 2016. He could push for a spot in the back end of the Marlins' rotation next spring. Sep 30 - 11:33 PM

Odrisamer Despaigne notched his first win for the Marlins by pitching six innings of two-run ball against the Rockies on Monday.

Despaigne had been 0-3 in six starts and 13 relief appearances for the Marlins since the team acquired him late last year. He'll probably get one more start this weekend as he bids to keep his 40-man roster spot this winter.
Sep 26 - 1:53 AM

Odrisamer Despaigne yielded five earned runs over just 3 2/3 innings Sunday in the Marlins' loss to the Braves.

Atlanta didn't grab the lead for good until Lane Adams' walkoff two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning, allowing Despaigne to escape with a no-decision. The right-hander issued a whopping six walks and he also gave up four hits. For the season, he's now sporting a 4.38 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. His last win at the major league level came back in 2015 with the Padres.
Sep 10 - 5:31 PM

Odrisamer Despaigne lost despite limiting the Nationals to one run in seven innings Tuesday.

Despaigne got his first ever save last month, but he's still looking for his first win since 2015. He's pitched well enough to get it in two of his three starts since joining the rotation in late August, but the Marlins aren't scoring for him right now.
Sep 5 - 10:15 PM

Odrisamer Despaigne lasted just four innings Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits in a loss to the Phillies.

It wasn't a picture of efficiency for Despaigne, who needed 90 pitches to get through his four innings. Along with the five hits allowed, two walks and three strikeouts added to the pitch count. The loss was his second of the year and the first since May 6. Through 12 appearances, including three starts, the 30-year-old has a 4.13 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. A difficult matchup with the Nationals is on tap for Tuesday.
Aug 31 - 10:34 PM

Odrisamer Despaigne kept the Padres to one run over six innings but settled for a no-decision Saturday.

Against his former team, the 30-year-old exacted revenge by allowing just three hits and two walks in his six innings. It was just his second start of the year and his 11th appearance, owning a 3.70 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 24 1/3 innings. Despaigne will return to a relief role after Saturday.
Aug 27 - 12:33 AM

Odrisamer Despaigne will make a spot start for the Marlins on Saturday versus the Padres.

Despaigne holds a 4.42 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and 12/10 K/BB ratio in 18 1/3 innings -- one start, nine relief appearances -- this season with Miami. He's not a recommended fantasy streamer against his former team.
Aug 24 - 11:00 AM

Odrisamer Despaigne picked up his first career save with a flawless ninth inning Sunday against the Rockies.

Brad Ziegler needed a day off after working Friday and Saturday, but it was a surprise that Despaigne, who had spent most of this year in the minors, was the choice to replace him. It was just his fifth relief appearance as a Marlin and the second in which he came into a game with a lead (the first was a 7-0 game). It worked out fine, obviously.
Aug 13 - 6:05 PM

Marlins recalled RHP Odrisamer Despaigne from Triple-A New Orleans.

Despaigne holds a 7.94 ERA over two appearances for the Marlins this season. He'll operate in a long relief role.
Jul 28 - 3:27 PM

Marlins optioned RHP Odrisamer Despaigne to Triple-A New Orleans.

The Marlins needed to make room for Sunday's starter, Vance Worley. Despaigne has looked overmatched in the big leagues this year, allowing 10 runs (five earned) and eight walks over 5 2/3 innings. Despite his struggles, the Marlins will probably give him another chance at some point.
May 20 - 9:20 PM

Marlins recalled RHP Odrisamer Despaigne from Triple-A New Orleans.

Tom Koehler was optioned to the minors late Tuesday night after struggling mightily against the Astros, and Despaigne could take his next rotation turn. Despaigne surrendered eight runs -- three earned -- over 4 2/3 innings in his last start for Miami. He's a poor fantasy bet no matter the role.
May 17 - 10:03 AM

Marlins optioned RHP Odrisamer Despaigne to Triple-A New Orleans.

Despaigne was smashed for eight runs -- three earned -- over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Mets on Saturday. Wei-Yin Chen (arm) is due back later this week, so Despaigne is no longer needed.
May 7 - 10:30 AM

Odrisamer Despaigne was knocked around by the Mets on Saturday, allowing eight runs -- three earned -- over 4 2/3 innings in a loss.

The first batter Despaigne faced reached on a fielding error, but the 30-year-old didn't help himself en route to allowing five runs in the first inning. He gave up five hits and walked four in total. Despaigne got the start in place of Wei-Yin Chen, and with Chen due back from the 10-day disabled list shortly, it should be the last we see of the right-hander for a while.
May 6 - 11:38 PM

Marlins recalled RHP Odrisamer Despaigne from Triple-A New Orleans.

The veteran right-hander will function as an extra arm in the bullpen with Wei-Yin Chen placed on the disabled list on Friday. He'll start in place of Chen against the Mets on Saturday.
May 5 - 6:50 PM

Marlins activated RHP Odrisamer Despaigne from the 10-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A New Orleans.

Despaigne missed much of spring training with a strained left oblique. He's healthy now, but there is no spot for him on the active 25-man major league roster. The right-hander will operate as organizational pitching depth for Miami this season.
