Martinez was making just his second start in September after being bumped from the rotation at the end of August. Nick Martinez allowed two runs in five innings Thursday in a loss to the Astros.

Martinez was at just 75 pitches when he was pulled, but the Rangers opted to take their chances with the pen rather than let Houston's lineup have a third look at Martinez's stuff. Martinez is 3-6 with a 5.17 ERA for the season.
Aug 31 - 4:23 PM

Nick Martinez allowed three runs over seven innings in a loss to the A's on Friday.

Martinez was recalled to rejoin the rotation in place of Tyson Ross. The quality start was his sixth in 14 tries this year, but he still fell to 3-5 with a 5.26 ERA. There's just no upside here.
Aug 26 - 12:54 AM

Rangers recalled RHP Nick Martinez from Triple-A Round Rock.

He will start Friday against the A's, as he's taking Tyson Ross' spot in the rotation. Martinez holds a 5.38 ERA over 16 appearances -- 13 starts -- for the Rangers this season and should be ignored in fantasy leagues.
Aug 25 - 10:28 AM

Nick Martinez will be called up to start Friday's game against the Athletics.

Martinez was scratched from Thursday's start for Triple-A Round Rock and now we know the reason why. He's replacing Tyson Ross, who is moving to the bullpen. Martinez allowed three runs over six innings in a no-decision when he faced the A's back on May 13.
Aug 24 - 8:39 PM

Rangers optioned RHP Nick Martinez to Triple-A Round Rock.

Martinez holds a 5.38 ERA over 16 appearances -- 13 starts -- this season. Him being sent down would seem to indicate that Andrew Cashner (neck) will avoid the disabled list.
Aug 9 - 9:52 AM

Nick Martinez was hit hard in Sunday's no-decision against the Twins, allowing five runs on five hits in just four innings of work.

Martinez walked two and struck out five on the afternoon. All of the damage against him was done via the long ball, with Max Kepler and Brian Dozier blasting two-run shots in the second inning and Eddie Rosario adding a solo shot in the third. Martinez now sports a 5.38 ERA and 1.37 WHIP on the season. He'll look for better results when he does battle against the Astros on Sunday.
Aug 6 - 5:41 PM

Nick Martinez was lit up for seven runs over 5 1/3 frames in Tuesday's loss to the Mariners.

Making a start in the rotation spot that Yu Darvish vacated, Martinez gave up eight hits and walks two while failing to record a single strikeout. Nelson Cruz took him deep. The Rangers don't have great options, so Martinez should get another opportunity. Fantasy owners should steer clear, though.
Aug 2 - 12:38 AM

Rangers recalled RHP Nick Martinez from Triple-A Round Rock.

Martinez will slide into the rotation on Tuesday versus the Mariners in place of Yu Darvish. He holds a 4.56 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 11 starts and three relief appearances this season for Texas.
Jul 31 - 6:30 PM

Rangers optioned RHP Nick Martinez to Triple-A Round Rock.

Martinez has registered a 4.56 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 11 starts and three relief appearances this season for Texas. A corresponding move will be made before Friday's series opener against the Angels.
Jul 6 - 1:03 PM

Nick Martinez logged his third win of the season Sunday against the Yankees, allowing six hits, four runs and one walk over five innings of work.

He notched three strikeouts over his 88 pitches. Martinez was cruising until the fifth inning when he allowed all four of his runs including three on a two-out homer by Gary Sanchez. The Yankees narrowed the gap to 7-6 at one point but the bullpen held on to preserve for the victory. Martinez hasn’t been anything special for Texas, contributing an underwhelming 4.55 ERA over 12 outings (11 starts) this year. He’s in line to start next Saturday against the White Sox.
Jun 25 - 6:02 PM

Nick Martinez picked up his second win of the season on Tuesday, limiting the Blue Jays to just one run on two hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Martinez also issued three walks while fanning two on the night. The only damage against him came on a run-scoring single from Ryan Goins in the seventh inning. He'll carry a 4.33 ERA and 1.19 WHIP into a difficult matchup against the Yankees in New York on Sunday.
Jun 21 - 12:55 AM

Nick Martinez yielded two runs in six innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Astros.

Martinez was making his first start since struggling against the Rays on May 30. This could help get him another turn, but the Rangers do have Tyson Ross coming back. Martinez, who has a 4.67 ERA in 54 innings, is a poor bet in AL-only leagues.
Jun 14 - 12:53 AM

Nick Martinez will start for the Rangers on Tuesday versus the Astros.

Manager Jeff Banister had left open the possibility that it could be either Martinez or Dillon Gee, and he's decided to go with the former. Martinez holds a 4.88 ERA over nine appearances -- eight starts -- this season for Texas and is a poor streaming option.
