Phillies activated RHP Mario Hollands from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Mario Hollands (elbow) will begin making rehab appearances this week with Double-A Reading.

He struck out six batters over four innings of one-run ball at High-A Clearwater. Hollands is close to 14 months removed from Tommy John surgery and could be an option for the Phillies' bullpen sometime in early June. He'll have to post good results at Double-A and Triple-A first.
May 18 - 10:06 AM

Phillies placed LHP Mario Hollands on the 60-day disabled list with an elbow injury.

Hollands' recovery from Tommy John surgery has taken longer than expected. If all goes well, he could back in the Phillies' pen later this year, though he'll probably need to prove himself in Triple-A first.

Phillies activated LHP Mario Hollands from the 60-day disabled list.

Mario Hollands (elbow) will undergo another ultrasound on his common flexor tendon this week.

Hollands was hoping to have more clarity on his injured elbow after a meeting with Dr. James Andrews, but Andrews had trouble getting a clear reading on Hollands' MRI Monday. The Phillies' team physician has already recommended season-ending surgery to repair the strain in his elbow. Either way, Hollands won't be back with the Phillies any time soon.

Mario Hollands is getting a second opinion on his injured elbow from Dr. James Andrews.

Dr. Michael Ciccotti, the Phillies' team physician, has recommended that Hollands undergo surgery to repair the common flexor tendon strain in his left elbow. It would put him out for the entire 2015 season.

Mario Hollands is likely to need elbow surgery.

Hollands was diagnosed Sunday with a common flexor tendon strain -- the same injury that is threatening the career of Cliff Lee. Hollands will be evaluated this week by team physician Dr. Michael Ciccotti. Surgery would likely cost him the entire 2015 season.

Mario Hollands (elbow) has been diagnosed with a common flexor tendon strain.

The injury is the same as the one plaguing Cliff Lee, a bad sign for the 26-year-old. Hollands will be evaluated and his MRI findings will be reviewed before a plan of action is determined. It appears as though Hollands will spend some time on the disabled list as a result of the injury.

Mario Hollands is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his sore left elbow on Saturday.

The 26-year-old southpaw has been dealing with soreness in his pitching elbow in recent days, and though they don't believe it's a major issue the Phillies want to take every precaution to make sure.

Mario Hollands gave up a homer to Pedro Alvarez and three runs in his one-third of an inning Friday against the Pirates.

Hollands entered camp with a pretty good chance of winning a bullpen spot, but he's hurt the cause with an 11.81 ERA. Giving up a homer to Alvarez is a big blow, considering that Hollands is a lefty and Alvarez has a history of not hitting lefties.

Phillies activated LHP Mario Hollands from the 60-day disabled list.

Nothing more than a procedural move here that puts Hollands back on the team's 40-man roster. The 26-year-old southpaw was shut down in early September due to a flexor strain in his pitching elbow after posting a 4.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 35/21 K/BB ratio in 47 frames.
