Adalberto Mejia took a loss to the Indians after allowing two runs in 3 2/3 innings on Wednesday.
He gave up a run on an Edwin Encarnacion single in the first inning. In the fourth frame he beaned catcher Yan Gomes with the bases loaded to bring in another run. All told he surrendered five hits and three walks while striking out three on the evening. He's made 21 starts for the Twins this year, notching a 4-7 record and a 4.50 ERA. He recently returned from a month-long stint on the disabled list with a bicep injury. Sep 27 - 11:10 PM

Adalberto Mejia (biceps) held the Tigers to one run over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision Thursday.

Mejia scattered four hits and a walk while striking out five, and if it weren't for him still working to rebuild endurance he may have finally gotten his first win of the second half. As it is, the 24-year-old will just have to settle for a team win and a moral victory. Through 20 starts, Mejia holds a 4.48 ERA and 1.55 WHIP, and he'll keep searching for that first second-half win Wednesday against the Indians.
Sep 22 - 1:14 AM

Adalberto Mejia (biceps) allowed three runs over three innings against the Blue Jays Saturday in his return from the disabled list.

Pitching in his first game in almost a month and a half, the southpaw yielded five hits, including a solo homer, without walking a batter in his three innings of work. He also struck out three. In 19 starts overall, Mejia is 4-6 with a 4.62 ERA and 1.57 WHIP. The 24-year-old had been pitching better prior to his injury, and the postseason-minded Twins will hope he can regain that form sooner than later. His next chance will be Thursday at the Tigers.
Sep 16 - 11:22 PM

Twins activated LHP Adalberto Mejia from the 10-day disabled list.

As noted earlier, he'll make his return to the Twins rotation on Saturday against Toronto. Mejia holds a 4.47 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and 74/40 K/BB ratio in 86 2/3 innings this season with Minnesota.
Sep 13 - 6:03 PM

Adalberto Mejia (biceps) will rejoin the Twins rotation on Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Mejia pitched well in a rehab start on Saturday, and obviously looked good enough to rejoin the Minnesota rotation as they try and clinch a playoff spot. In 86 2/3 innings this season, the southpaw has an ERA of 4.47 and 74 strikeouts.
Sep 13 - 4:12 PM

Adalberto Mejia (biceps) is ready to rejoin the Twins' rotation after throwing five scoreless innings in a rehab start with Double-a Chattanooga on Saturday.

Manager Paul Molitor wasn't sure when exactly Mejia will be slotted in, but count on it being sometime this week. The left-hander has been out since early August due to a strained biceps.
Sep 10 - 12:04 PM

Adalberto Mejia (biceps) will have his rehab assignment shifted to Double-A Chattanooga.

Mejia, out since August 9 with a left arm brachialis strain, allowed one run over eight innings during his stint with Triple-A Rochester. He'll now continue his rehab in Double-A during the team's playoff run.
Sep 5 - 2:15 PM

Adalberto Mejia (biceps) tossed three scoreless innings Wednesday in his rehab debut with Triple-A Rochester.

Twins manager Paul Molitor told reporters Thursday morning that reports on the outing were "very encouraging." Mejia will make another rehab start Monday at Rochester before returning to the Twins' active roster late next week. It's unclear whether he will be used as a starter or reliever down the stretch.
Aug 31 - 11:41 AM

Adalberto Mejia (biceps) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Rochester.

Mejia has been on the disabled list since August 9 because of a left arm brachialis strain. He'll probably need to make more than one start on the farm to get properly stretched back out. The 24-year-old southpaw owns a 4.47 ERA in 18 outings this season at the major league level.
Aug 28 - 2:37 PM

Adalberto Mejia (biceps) threw a bullpen session Thursday.

Mejia "did very well" in the mound session, according to Twins manager Paul Molitor. The left-hander will throw off the bump again Sunday before likely being cleared to face hitters if it goes well. Mejia is working his way back from a strained biceps.
Aug 25 - 12:23 PM

Adalberto Mejia (arm) hopes to resume throwing on Friday.

Mejia hasn't picked up a baseball since August 8 while recovering from a brachialis strain in his left arm. The 24-year-old has gone through the usual peaks and valleys as a rookie, delivering a 4.47 ERA over 18 starts for the Twins. He should be back at some point this year.
Aug 16 - 6:13 PM

An MRI on Adalberto Mejia's injured left arm revealed no structural damage.

Mejia was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left arm brachialis strain earlier on Wednesday. Following his MRI, manager Paul Molitor said that this is a "wear and tear" issue, one which the team hopes will not keep Mejia on the shelf for long.
Aug 9 - 5:54 PM

Twins placed LHP Adalberto Mejia on the 10-day disabled list with a left arm brachialis strain.

Mejia left his start Tuesday night against the Brewers after allowing back-to-back singles in the top of the fourth inning and showing diminished velocity on all of his pitches. He was charged with three earned runs on seven hits and one walk in the no-decision. It's not clear at this point how long the left-hander might be sidelined. Dillon Gee could take his rotation spot.
Aug 9 - 12:17 AM

Adalberto Mejia exited his start Tuesday night against the Brewers with left lateral upper arm pain.

That helps explain why his velocity dropped off so significantly in the top of the fourth inning. Mejia was charged with three earned runs on seven hits and one walk over three-plus frames. The left-hander will be reevaluated by the Twins' medical staff on Wednesday.
Aug 8 - 10:04 PM

Adalberto Mejia left his start Tuesday against the Brewers after suffering an apparent injury.

Mejia's velocity dropped off significantly in the top of the fourth inning and he left with a trainer after surrendering back-to-back singles. There should be an update soon from Minnesota's Target Field.
