Twins prospect OF Adam Brett Walker went 2-for-3 with his second home run of the season on Wednesday for Double-A Chattanooga.
Hitting home runs is nothing new for Walker, who slugged 27 in 2013 at Low-A Cedar Rapids and followed it with 25 last year at High-A Fort Myers. Unfortunately, swinging and missing is also a big part of the 23-year-old’s game, as he owns a 25.9 percent strikeout rate and 71.8 percent contact rate in 1,383 career plate appearances, a majority of which have come below the Double-A level. Twins outfield prospect Adam Brett Walker went 2-for-5 with a home run for High-A Fort Myers on Wednesday, raising his season line to .244/.293/.447.

Walker had a brutal June, hitting .232/.269/.337, but has bounced back in July, hitting .304/.347/.652 with one double and five home runs in 49 plate appearances. The 22-year-old is roughly six months younger than the average player in the Florida State League, and could see time with Double-A New Britain before the season ends. He has some of the best raw power in the minor leagues, but his swing-and-miss tendencies could prevent him from reaching the major leagues.

Twins outfield prospect Adam Brett Walker went 1-for-4 with a home run for High-A Fort Myers on Friday.

Walker has hit home runs in three straight games, and now has a Florida State League-leading 18 home runs on the season. His power is undeniable, but he has scuffled since the FSL All-Star Game, hitting .172/.234/.379 with four home runs and 18 strikeouts in 16 games.

Twins outfield prospect Adam Brett Walker won the home run derby prior to the Florida State League All-Star game, then went 3-5 with a double and a solo home run.

Walker was named the MVP of the All-Star game. His season line is up to .248/.299/.448 with 14 home runs, and his 73 strikeouts in 271 plate appearances (26.9%) is much too high. He could see a promotion to Double-A New Britain later this summer.

Since then, he has hit .337/.348/.697 five doubles and nine home runs in 22 games, raising his season line to .255/.302/.472. The 22-year old slugger could be in line for a promotion to Double-A New Britain later in the summer.

Twins outfield prospect Adam Brett Walker went 3-for-5 for High-A Fort Myers on Friday, ripping a double and two home runs.

Walker leads the Florida State League in home runs with 12, but he also sports a .236/.293/.452 line with 60 strikeouts in 215 plate appearances. His power is unquestioned, but he continues to struggle with pitch recognition. He has hit better as of late, putting up a .327/.353/.776 line with four doubles and six home runs over his last 12 games, while striking out 12 times.

Twins outfield prospect Adam Brett Walker went 2-for-4 on Wednesday, hitting his sixth home run for High-A Fort Myers.

After a solid start, Walker has cooled off significantly, hitting just .212/.281/.356 with six home runs and 46 strikeouts, including .171/.237/.286 in his last 10 games. Walker has elite power, but he also struggles with pitch recognition. He hit 27 home runs for Low-A Cedar Rapids in 2013, but his struggles as a 22-year old in High-A Fort Myers are particularly troubling, given the improved breaking pitches he will see in Double-A and above.

Twins outfield prospect Adam Brett Walker blasts his fourth home run of the season for High-A Fort Myers on Saturday.

Walker is hitting .250/.289/.583 over his first nine games of the season, and has two walks, ten strikeouts, and four home runs. Walker's batting line is generally representative of his skills: big power, big swing and miss, and little patience for walks. Miguel Sano is the only player in the Twins organization who has more power, so if Walker can improve his contact rate he could be an offensive force in Minnesota.
