Braves RHP prospect Touki Toussaint struck out nine hitters over five scoreless innings for Double-A Mississippi.
Toussaint walked three, but he scattered them while allowing only three hits in his shutout innings. The 21-year-old right-hander has tantalized with his ridiculous fastball/curve combination, but his command has been lacking, to put it nicely. There's still plenty of time for him to develop into a starting pitcher, but at some point, you have to wonder if the Braves fast-track the arm and take advantage of those elite pitches. Braves prospect Touki Toussaint gave up three earned runs over five innings on Sunday for Double-A Mississippi.

Toussaint's line isn't pretty, but he was still able to strike out nine and only walked one batter. That gives the 2014 first-round pick 136 strikeouts in just over 116 innings this year. The stuff is ridiculous. The command is too, but not in the good way. He could be a lights-out reliever, but no one can blame the Braves for giving him a chance to start.

Braves prospect Touki Toussaint struck out ten hitters over seven innings for High-A Florida on Thursday.

Toussaint allowed six hits and three walks, but he limited the damage to just one run. It's been a disappointing year for the 2014 first-round pick, but he has been able to strike out 104 hitters in just under 93 innings, so it's not a question of stuff. If he can get his command to even average he could be a starter, but more than likely, you're going to be seeing his impressive fastball/curve combo pitch out of the bullpen.

Braves RHP prospect Touki Toussaint allowed just one run over eight dominant innings Monday in a win for Low-A Rome.

Columbia left-fielder Joe Tuschak took him deep for a solo home run in the sixth but that was Toussaint's only blemish. Toussaint finished with three strikeouts and didn't walk a batter for the first time all year. After getting off to a tough start, the 2014 first-round pick is finally rounding into form. He's allowed three runs or fewer in each of his last seven starts while lowering his ERA from 12.66 to 4.89. Atlanta acquired the talented 19-year-old last year in a trade that sent infielder Phil Gosselin to the Diamondbacks.

Braves RHP prospect Touki Toussaint delivered a career-high nine strikeouts over six shutout innings Tuesday for Low-A Rome.

He limited Charleston to two hits and three strikeouts, though a late RiverDogs comeback forced him to settle for a no-decision. It's been an up-and-down year for Toussaint. The right-hander is winless in his last five starts, though he's posted a respectable 2.66 ERA over that span. He's also allowed 31 walks this year, second-most in the South Atlantic League. The 19-year-old has plenty of rough edges to smooth out before his next promotion.

Braves prospect RHP Touki Toussaint struck out a season-high eight batters over six no-hit innings on Monday for Low-A Rome.

The 2014 first-round pick walked four batters and threw 48 of 85 pitches for strikes in the outing. Acquired from Arizona in late June, Toussaint has pitched to a 3.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 7.3 K/9 this season in 64 1/3 innings between the Midwest and South Atlantic Leagues. The 19-year-old right-hander’s control has been shaky in his full-season debut (4.3 BB/9), but he’s been able to offset the free passes with a .193 opponents’ batting average. He’s 2-1 with a 3.20 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings since joining the Braves system.

Braves RHP prospect Touki Toussaint hurled five shutout innings Saturday in a win for Low-A Rome.

The game was called in the sixth inning because of rain. 34 of his 57 pitches went for strikes. Saturday was Toussaint's first win as a member of the Braves organization. The 2014 first-round pick was acquired from Arizona last month. Opponents have hit just .200 against the right-hander in 48 1/3 innings this season.

Braves acquired RHPs Touki Toussaint and Bronson Arroyo from the Diamondbacks for INF Phil Gosselin.

Toussaint is the big fish in this deal, which is basically a salary dump for the Snakes. The 19-year-old right-hander was selected 16th overall last June out of a Florida high school and got a top-100-prospect ranking this past winter by both and Baseball America. Toussaint, a raw hard-throwing right-hander, had registered a 3.69 ERA, 1.179 WHIP, and 29/15 K/BB ratio through 39 innings this season with Low-A Kane County. It's a very nice get for the rebuilding Braves.

Diamondbacks signed first-round pick RHP Touki Toussaint.

Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that the Diamondbacks signed him for more than the slot value of $2.33 million for the No. 16 overall pick. The team signed a few of their early picks under slot value, so they had the wiggle room to get the deal done.

Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that the Diamondbacks are close to announcing an agreement with first-round pick RHP Touki Toussaint.

Toussaint, a prep right-hander, was selected No. 16 overall in this month's First-Year Player Draft. He's expected to receive more than the slot value of $2.33 million.

Diamondbacks selected high school right-hander Touki Toussaint with 16th overall pick.

If Toussaint were a little bigger, he probably would have been right there with Brady Aiken and Tyler Kolek at the very top of the draft. As it was, his slight build probably worked against him, with teams wondering how he'll hold up. He has an electric arm; he throws in the 90-95 mph range with the possibility of more velocity as he fills out and his curveball is outstanding.
