Justin Bour swatted a grand slam in the first inning but that was all the Marlins could muster in a loss to the Cubs on Friday.

Bour's slam tied the game at 4-4 in the first inning but only one more run was scored the rest of the game. The big fly was the 13th of the season for Bour, who sports a .268/.339/.515 line on the season. Those rate stats look good but he doesn't have the counting stats to match. His 26 runs and 40 RBI with no steals are not what his owners need from their first baseman.
Jun 24 - 11:12 PM

Justin Bour went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and two runs scored Saturday against the Rockies.

Bour hit the two-run shot in the third inning, his 11th home run of the season. He later singled and scored in the fifth. The 28-year-old has been steady if unspectacular in his second full season in the majors, batting .261/.333/.484 with those 11 homers, 34 RBI and 23 runs scored.
Jun 18 - 10:24 PM

Justin Bour delivered a pinch-hit grand slam as the Marlins topped the Diamondbacks 8-6 on Friday.

Bour's slam off Tyler Clippard accounted for the first four runs of the Marlins' seven-run seventh, with turned a 5-1 deficit into an 8-5 lead. It was his first career homer in 11 plate appearances with the bases loaded. Bour didn't start tonight because the Marlins were facing a left-hander. He's yet to start a game against a left-hander this season.
Jun 11 - 1:13 AM

Justin Bour went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Sunday's loss to the Nationals.

Bour's two-run homer off Max Scherzer in the seventh inning provided the Marlins their only runs in the 8-2 defeat. The 27-year-old homered in the final two games of the weekend series to help boost his triple-slash to .254/.326/.516. He is up to nine homers, now, and has driven in 23 runs across 122 at-bats.
May 22 - 4:42 PM

Justin Bour went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the Nationals.

Bour cracked his two-run shot against Nationals starter Joe Ross in the sixth inning. It was hit eighth of the season. For the year, the 27-year-old first baseman is slashing .252/.326/.496 with five doubles, the eight homers and 21 RBI over 119 at-bats. Bour hit 23 homers last season. He could challenge that number in 2016 when all is said and done.
May 21 - 10:44 PM

Justin Bour smacked a solo homer in Monday's win over the Phillies.

Bour showed impressive power to left-center field in taking Jerad Eickhoff deep in the sixth inning. After a bit of a slow start, the first baseman has now homered six times over his last 14 contests. He's driven in 19 runs.
May 16 - 10:31 PM

Justin Bour is not in the Marlins' lineup Friday.

He's sitting in favor of Chris Johnson with the Nationals throwing lefty Gio Gonzalez. Derek Dietrich is also on the bench, with Miguel Rojas handling second base.

Justin Bour smashed a two-run homer, his fifth of the year, in Wednesday's victory over the Brewers.

The Marlins continue to shield him from left-handed pitching. With righty Chase Anderson on the mound, though, Bour got the start and ended the shutout in the sixth inning with a two-run shot to deep right-center field. He's an interesting mix-and-match play in daily leagues. He's absolutely worth starting against righties, as the 27-year-old is hitting .283/.346/.500. The flip side to that is that the strict platoon role will keep him from ever being a top-20 fantasy first baseman.
May 11 - 10:43 PM

Justin Bour (finger) hit a solo homer in his return to the lineup Saturday.

He also drew a walk. Bour had sat out the last few days after dislocating his left pinkie finger, but he's ready to go now.
May 8 - 8:29 AM

Justin Bour (finger) remained out of the Marlins' lineup Friday.

Bour is still recovering from a dislocated left pinkie finger, although he hopes to play this weekend. Chris Johnson is handling first base in his place.
May 6 - 2:46 PM

Justin Bour (finger) is hoping to return to the Marlins' lineup sometime over the weekend.

Bour suffered a dislocated left pinkie finger on Tuesday while diving back into second base. He was examined by a hand specialist on Thursday and it sounds like he could be cleared to return to action as soon as Friday. Bour is hitting .276/.341/.461 with three homers so far this season.

May 6 - 10:57 AM

Justin Bour is out of the Marlins' starting lineup Wednesday after dislocating his pinkie Tuesday.

Derek Dietrich will start at first base and bat fifth against Diamondbacks right-hander Rubby De La Rosa. It's not clear how much time Bour might miss.
May 4 - 2:15 PM

Justin Bour had a monster night Friday against the Brewers, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and a career-high five RBI.

Bour slugged a three-run homer in the first inning before adding an RBI double in the third inning and a solo homer in the sixth. This was his second career multi-homer again. The 27-year-old entered the day with one home run through his first 70 plate appearances. Perhaps this will finally get him going.
Apr 30 - 12:52 AM

Justin Bour went 0-for-4 against the Dodgers on Monday.

Bour has just one homer in 59 at-bats to begin the year. He's still not embarrassing himself with a .681 OPS, but it's worth wondering if he'll lose some at-bats to Derek Dietrich after Martin Prado returns from the paternity list.
