Marlins activated 1B Justin Bour from the 60-day disabled list.

Bour has been sidelined since July 2 with a high right ankle sprain, but he's finally ready to make his return. The Marlins will likely ease him back into things as a pinch-hitter before playing him in the field again.
Sep 6 - 3:29 PM

Marlins manager Don Mattingly indicated Monday that Justin Bour (ankle) is on the verge of being activated.

Bour was initially listed as a reserve on Monday's lineup card, but wasn't officially activated. Still, it's a sign that he's getting close. "It’s getting to the point where we feel like we want to activate him, and just have him available," said Mattingly. Bour has been sidelined since July 2 with a high right ankle sprain. He'll likely be eased back into things as a pinch-hitter for a while before making a return to the field.
Sep 5 - 8:35 PM

Justin Bour (ankle) could be activated from the disabled list sometime next week.

Bour's recovery from a high right ankle sprain has come along painfully slowly, but he's felt good after a two-week shutdown period. He resume baseball activities last week and will hit against Wei-Yin Chen (elbow) in a simulated game on Friday. Bour will give the Marlins a big weapon against right-handed pitching once he's ready to go.
Sep 1 - 5:33 PM

Justin Bour (ankle) has resumed baseball activities.

Bour was shut down for two weeks after having a setback with his high right ankle sprain, but he resumed hitting and throwing on Wednesday. The first baseman is feeling better but didn't want to put a timetable on his return. "I can't give a time. I wish I could," Bour said. "I made the mistake before of having a time set out in my mind, and I was wrong."
Aug 26 - 11:22 AM

Marlins transferred 1B Justin Bour from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

It's a procedural move that won't affect Bour one way or the other. He's been out with a sprained ankle since early July and there's still no timetable for his return. Chris Johnson and Xavier Scruggs will continue to man first in his absence.
Aug 23 - 3:34 PM

Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill said during an appearance on 940 WINZ on Tuesday that there's "no timeline" for Justin Bour (ankle) to return.

Bour was originally expected to return from the disabled list 10 days ago, but progress from his high right ankle sprain has been slow. At this point, a return in September is more realistic. Derek Dietrich and Chris Johnson will continue to share playing time at first base.
Aug 16 - 10:20 AM

Justin Bour (ankle) is not expected to return before September.

Bour's recovery from a high right ankle sprain has come along more slowly than expected, as he hasn't played in a rehab game in over a week. Derek Dietrich will continue to see the bulk of the playing time at first base.
Aug 12 - 4:33 PM

Justin Bour (ankle) isn't sure if he'll be able to rejoin the Marlins during the team's current homestand.

Bour was originally expected to be activated from the disabled list last Friday, but he's not quite ready yet. "It's very frustrating not to be playing and helping the team win," Bour said. "High-ankle sprains normally take six to eight weeks. I'm a little over four. I'm still technically ahead of schedule, so I'm trying to look at the positive of it." The slugging first baseman has been sidelined since the beginning of July with a right ankle sprain.
Aug 9 - 8:39 AM

Justin Bour (ankle) was not activated from the disabled list Friday.

He had been set to return from his ankle injury Friday but evidently isn't ready just yet. The Marlins should have more on Bour's status before long.
Aug 5 - 4:45 PM

Justin Bour (ankle) is due to be activated from the disabled list Friday.

He'll play back-to-back games with Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday and Wednesday before getting the official go-ahead. Bour has been on the disabled list since the beginning of July with a right ankle sprain.
Aug 2 - 6:32 PM

Justin Bour (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A New Orleans on Friday.

Bour has been out of commission nearly all month with a sprained ankle but is finally ready for game action again. He should be activated early next week if all goes well.
Jul 29 - 2:03 PM

Marlins manager Don Mattingly said Friday that Justin Bour is still dealing with soreness in his right ankle.

Bour has been sidelined since July 2 with a right ankle sprain and it appears that he will not be ready to return from the disabled list when he's first eligible. Chris Johnson will continue to fill in at first base for now.
Jul 15 - 9:23 PM

Marlins placed 1B Justin Bour on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 3, with a right ankle sprain.

Bour suffered the ankle sprain on Saturday night and probably wasn't going to be ready before the All-Star break. This move gives him some extended rest while only costing him a handful of games. The 28-year-old has produced an excellent .873 OPS with 15 home runs and 46 RBI in 213 at-bats this season for the Marlins. Chris Johnson has filled in at first base the last three games.
Jul 6 - 10:58 AM

Justin Bour (ankle) is once again absent from the Marlins starting lineup on Tuesday.

He's heading back to Miami to undergo an MRI on his injured ankle to determine the full extent of the injury. Expect an update on his status on Wednesday. Chris Johnson continues to fill in for him at first base.
