Marlins placed 1B Justin Bour on the 10-day disabled list with a right oblique strain.
Bour suffered the injury in Monday night's series opener against the Rangers and will probably miss the next 3-4 weeks. The 29-year-old first baseman leaves behind a stellar .289/.366/.548 batting line with 21 home runs and 63 RBI in 87 games. Tomas Telis has been recalled from the minors in a corresponding roster move. Jul 25 - 4:46 PM

Justin Bour (oblique) will be placed on the 10-day disabled list.

Bour suffered a strained right oblique on Monday. It's unclear at this point how long he'll be sidelined, but oblique injuries typically don't result in minimum stays on the disabled list. Tyler Moore will be in line for more starts at first base.

Justin Bour was lifted from Monday's game against the Rangers with a right oblique strain.

He evidently must have suffered the injury during his plate appearance in the first inning when he grounded into a double play, as he was pulled for a pinch hitter during his next scheduled at-bat in the fourth. The Marlins are calling Bour day-to-day for now, but that could just be a general diagnosis until he's further evaluated. More information on Bour's status might be available after the game.
Jul 24 - 9:52 PM

Justin Bour went 2-for-4 and scored twice in Saturday's win over the Reds.

He singled twice and both times trotted home on dingers by J.T. Realmuto. The 29-year-old first baseman is batting a splendid .291/.368/.554 with 21 home runs and 63 RBI. He has one stolen base this year, and that is the first and only one of his career.
Jul 23 - 1:39 AM

Justin Bour is not in the Marlins' lineup Sunday.

Dee Gordon and J.T. Realmuto are also sitting out. The Marlins have Tyler Moore at first base, Derek Dietrich at second and A.J. Ellis at catcher.
Jul 16 - 10:48 AM

Justin Bour went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in Friday’s loss to the Dodgers.

His double put the Marlins ahead in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Dodgers rallied against closer A.J. Ramos in the ninth. Bour has already driven in 11 runs this month. The 29-year-old slugger has enjoyed a breakout campaign with a .288/.366/.555 batting line to go along with 20 homers and 61 RBI. He’d likely net a nice return in a trade, but the Marlins are reluctant to move him.
Jul 14 - 10:32 PM

ESPN's Buster Olney hears that the Yankees' and Marlins' trade talks regarding Justin Bour have been "only cursory" and "non-specific."

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported over the weekend that the Yankees were "pursuing a trade" for Bour, but it sounds like it might just have been them doing their due diligence as they look for help at first base. The Marlins are informing other teams that they're "open for business," according to Olney, but Bour isn't one of their more likelier pieces to be moved given that he's under team control through 2020.
Jul 10 - 4:31 PM

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Yankees "are pursuing a trade" for Justin Bour.

It's no secret that the Yankees have had issues with injuries and a lack of production at first base this season, so they figure to be in the market for help at the position this month. It's also well known that the Marlins are expected to trade multiple pieces as they prepare for the franchise to be sold. However, Jackson was told by one source involved in the bidding that the team slashing salary wouldn't necessarily be a good thing, as the new owner would want to make some of those decisions. Bour doesn't seem terribly likely to be moved given that his first year of arbitration eligibility is this winter and he's under team control through 2020. However, we certainly can't rule it out if the Yankees are motivated enough to make a strong offer. They certainly have the pieces in their farm system.

Jul 9 - 9:24 AM

Justin Bour finished with a solo home run across four at-bats in Saturday's win against the Marlins.

Bour is heating up as we approach the All-Star break, as he is 10-for-33 (.303) with three doubles, two homers and seven RBI across eight games in the month of July while posting a .970 OPS.
Jul 9 - 3:40 AM

Justin Bour went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs in a loss to the Brewers on Saturday.

His first inning double plated Giancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich to bounce his team out to an early lead that would be quickly buried. The 29-year-old has emerged as a legitimate fantasy threat for the first time this season. He is rocking a .287/.358/.553 triple slash with 18 home runs and 52 RBI.
Jul 1 - 8:04 PM

Justin Bour went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs on Tuesday as the Marlins topped the Mets.

Bour got the Marlins on the board with a two-run single in the first inning. He's in the midst of a breakout season offensively, slashing .293/.365/.572 with 18 homers and 50 RBI.
Jun 28 - 12:05 AM

Justin Bour is not in the Marlins' starting lineup on Saturday.

It looks to be just a regular day of rest for Bour against tough southpaw Jon Lester. Tyler Moore is starting at first base for the Marlins and will bat seventh on Saturday.
Jun 24 - 12:35 PM

Justin Bour went 2-for-4 with a grand slam Monday as the Marlins edged the Nationals 8-7.

It was Bour's third slam in 21 career at-bats with the bases loaded. He hasn't missed a beat since coming off the disabled list, driving in runs in all four games since returning. He's hit 14 homers in his last 27 games after hitting just four in his first 32.
Jun 20 - 12:34 AM

Marlins activated 1B Justin Bour from the 10-day disabled list.

Bour missed exactly 10 days because of a sprained right ankle. The 29-year-old first baseman returns Friday to an impressive .295/.369/.589 batting line with 16 home runs and 40 RBI in 55 games.
Jun 16 - 3:38 PM

Justin Bour (ankle) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Friday.

It's the first day he's eligible. Bour tweaked his right ankle when he landed awkwardly on first base on June 3, but he said he's feeling great now. The Marlins will be happy to get his red-hot bat back in the lineup.
