Taylor Buchholz plans to skip the 2012 season.
Buchholz, a 30-year-old free agent, has been battling depression and anxiety issues for the past several months. "As of right now, Taylor is taking the year off," Buchholz's agent David Pasti told ESPNNewYork.com. "He's feeling great, but not ready to get back into baseball. He's taking it one day at a time." Taylor Buchholz has elected free agency.

As expected. Buchholz was arbitration-eligible this winter, but the Mets decided to remove him from the 40-man roster earlier this week. The 30-year-old right-hander posted a 3.12 ERA and 26/7 K/BB ratio over 26 innings this season before suffering depression and anxiety symptoms. It's not known if he'll attempt to play in 2012.

Mets sent RHP Taylor Buchholz outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

Buchholz was arbitration-eligible this winter, but the Mets have decided to remove him from the 40-man roster. Mets assistant general manager John Ricco expects he will elect free agency. The 30-year-old right-hander posted an impressive 3.12 ERA and 26/7 K/BB ratio over 26 innings this season before going on the disabled list in early June due to depression and anxiety symptoms. It's not known if he'll attempt to play in 2012.

Mets activated RHP Taylor Buchholz from the 60-day disabled list.

Buchholz posted an impressive 3.12 ERA and 26/7 K/BB ratio over 26 innings before going on the disabled list in early June due to depression and anxiety symptoms. The 30-year-old right-hander is arbitration-eligible for the final time this winter and is likely to be non-tendered.

Mets transferred RHP Taylor Buchholz from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.

The move cleared a spot on the Mets' 40-man roster. Buchholz hasn't pitched since the end of May due to depression and anxiety symptoms.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said that Taylor Buchholz (depression) is not expected back this season.

Buchholz hasn't pitched since the end of May due to depression and anxiety symptoms. The 29-year-old right-hander had an impressive 3.12 ERA and 26/7 K/BB ratio over his first 26 innings before going on the disabled list.

Taylor Buchholz will remain on the disabled list for the "foreseeable future" after being diagnosed with depression and anxiety.

Buchholz had a solid 3.12 ERA and 26/7 K/BB ratio over his first 26 innings before being placed on the disabled list in June with what was termed as shoulder fatigue. It appears that depression was actually the reason all along.

Mets manager Terry Collins said Tuesday that Taylor Buchholz (shoulder) is still resting near his home near Philadelphia.

Buchholz was placed on the disabled list nearly one month ago with right shoulder fatigue. The 29-year-old has had his share of shoulder issues in the past, so we're not optimistic that he'll pitch for the Mets any time soon.

Mets manager Terry Collins said Taylor Buchholz (shoulder) will not return from the disabled list on Tuesday when first eligible.

No surprise there. Buchholz has had a history of shoulder issues, so the Mets will play it safe with him. It's not clear at this point how much longer he might be sidelined. The right-hander was pitching well before landing on the DL, posting a 3.12 ERA and 1.12 WHIP while striking out a batter per inning.

Mets placed RHP Taylor Buchholz on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder fatigue.

Buchholz has had shoulder issues in the past, but hopefully this is something that will calm down with a little rest. He's been quite a find for the Mets so far this season, posting a 3.12 ERA and 1.12 WHIP while striking out 26 over 26 innings.

Taylor Buchholz has posted a 1.45 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in his first 16 appearances for the Mets.

He also boasts a terrific 21/6 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings. Buchholz was an under-the-radar, shrewd offseason pick-up for GM Sandy Alderson, who gambled on the right-hander regaining his 2008 form. Buccholz has done just that after missing all of 2009 and a good chunk of 2010 with elbow and back problems.

Taylor Buchholz picked up the save for the Mets on Thursday by pitching a scoreless inning against the Cardinals.

Buchholz hadn't pitched since Saturday because of hamstring tightness. He's thrown three scoreless innings this spring as he works to lock up a spot in the Mets bullpen.

Taylor Buchholz is currently dealing with hamstring tightness, but doesn't expect to miss any time.

At least it's not his arm, right? Buchholz, 29, has made just nine major league appearances since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June of 2009. The good news is that he tossed two scoreless innings and notched three strikeouts in the Mets' Grapefruit League opener Saturday against the Braves. If healthy, he should crack this bullpen.

Taylor Buchholz could make as much as $1.2 million in his one-year contract with the Mets.

Buchholz signed with the Mets for a base salary of $600,000 and will earn an additional $400,000 if he makes the 25-man roster and is not on the disabled list. He could earn $200,000 more if he makes 60 appearances, maxing him out at $1.2 million. The 29-year-old right-hander hasn't made 60 appearances since his last full season in 2008, but similar to the Chris Capuano signing, the Mets won't mind rewarding him if he makes it there.

Mets signed RHP Taylor Buchholz to a one-year, $600,000 contract.

Sandy Alderson and company are out to prove that Tommy John survivors are the new market inefficiency. Buchholz, 29, only pitched 12 innings in the big leagues between the Rockies and Blue Jays last season. In addition to making a comeback from Tommy John surgery, he dealt with back problems over the course of the season. He's far from a sure thing at this point -- hence the contract being non-guaranteed -- but he could make for a nice buy-low signing if he can rediscover his command and velocity.
