Shreve was rocked for four earned runs on two hits and two walks Tuesday in a relief appearance against the Blue Jays. He did not record an out in that appearance and it ballooned his season ERA from 4.00 to 5.33.

The left-hander continues to bounce back and forth between Triple-A and the big league club. Shreve has appeared in 24 games for the Yankees this season, compiling a 4.30 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 20/7 K/BB ratio over 23 innings. He's expected to work in middle relief.

Shreve is over his shoulder ailment but will work his way back through the minors first. He'll get another shot eventually.

He'll do some flat ground work on Saturday. Shreve still has a ways to go as he works his way back from a sprained AC joint, but he's making progress.

Chasen Shreve has been diagnosed with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder.

Shreve apparently suffered the injury Wednesday while giving up three runs on two homers and a single as the Yankees fell to the Blue Jays. He received a cortisone injection on Thursday and won't pick up a baseball for at least a week. It's probably going to be a lengthy absence for the lefty reliever.

Shreve surrendered three runs on two homers and a single Wednesday in the Yankees' loss to the Blue Jays, watching his season ERA rise from 4.00 to 5.21. And he apparently woke up Thursday with an abnormal amount of discomfort in his throwing shoulder. Richard Bleier is taking over the vacant bullpen spot.

ESPN Deportes' Marly Rivera reports that Chasen Shreve will not be on the Yankees' Wild Card roster.

Shreve was terrific for the Yankees for most of the season, but he's really struggled since the beginning of September with a 13.50 ERA, 4.00 WHIP and eight walks over six innings. It remains to be seen whether he'd be included on the Yankees' ALDS roster should they advance.

Shreve tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings in a 19-inning game against the Red Sox earlier this month, so he was sent down in order for the Yankees to get a fresh arm. However, he's deservedly back in the Yankees' bullpen and should stick there for the foreseeable future.

Yankees acquired LHP Chasen Shreve from the Braves in the David Carpenter deal.

Shreve, 24, was terrific in his brief time with the Braves last season with a 0.73 ERA and also excellent between Double- and Triple-A, posting a 2.67 mark with and 87/12 K/BB ratio over 64 innings. The Yankees could carry him as a third left-hander along with Andrew Miller and Justin Wilson.
