Matt Duffy left Wednesday's game against the Yankees early with a quad injury.

The Rays are calling Matt Duffy day-to-day. He walked and score a run in his only plate appearance, and it's possible he picked up the injury while scoring. Brandon Lowe has come in to replace Duffy.
Sep 26 - 8:08 PM

Matt Duffy went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a pair of runs scored in Thursday's loss to the Blue Jays.

The game was the third in a row in which Duffy has recorded multiple hits, and he's got a modest six-game hitting streak to get his average to an even .300 with a .362 on-base percentage. It's been a quietly productive -- and, knock on wood, relatively healthy -- year for the 27-year-old, as he's got four homers and 12 steals while hitting near the top of the Rays order.
Sep 20 - 11:27 PM

Matt Duffy (back) is back in the Rays' lineup Friday.

It's Duffy's first start since Sunday, as he has been battling a back issue. He's at third base and batting second against Edwin Jackson and the A's.
Sep 14 - 3:05 PM

Matt Duffy (back) remains out of the Rays' starting lineup on Wednesday versus the Indians.

Duffy drew a walk as a pinch-hitter on Tuesday night, but he'll miss a third straight start with a back strain. Joey Wendle is playing third base and batting second against Indians right-hander Carlos Carrasco.
Sep 12 - 12:55 PM

Matt Duffy walked as a pinch-hitter Tuesday against the Indians.

Sep 11 - 10:43 PM

An MRI turned up negative on Matt Duffy's back.

Duffy is out of the Rays' lineup Tuesday for a second straight game, but he could be available off the bench and the hope is he'll be ready to play a full nine innings by Friday. Joey Wendle will start at third base and hit fifth Tuesday night against the Indians.
Sep 11 - 4:05 PM

Matt Duffy (back) is out of the Rays' lineup again Tuesday against the Indians.

Duffy sat out Monday's game with a lower back strain and it's unclear when he'll be ready to return. Joey Wendle will continue to fill in for now.
Sep 11 - 3:12 PM

Matt Duffy is out of Monday's lineup against the Indians due to a lower back strain.

It's something that has been bothering Duffy for a while and he is being evaluated further, so it's possible this is more than a day-to-day situation. Joey Wendle is filling in at third base Monday.
Sep 10 - 3:30 PM

Matt Duffy is not in Monday's lineup against the Indians.

He'll take a seat against right-hander Corey Kluber. Joey Wendle will start at the hot corner while Brandon Lowe plays second base.
Sep 10 - 2:13 PM

Matt Duffy went 2-for-2 and drove in a pair of runs as the Rays topped the Orioles on Saturday evening.

Duffy didn't even start this one, he came on as a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning and still had a nice night at the dish. He's now hitting a healthy .297/.357/.371 in 507 plate appearances on the season, but that empty average has come with only four long balls, 42 RBI and 10 stolen bases, making him virtually unplayable in many mixed leagues.
Sep 8 - 10:42 PM

Matt Duffy went 2-for-4 with a two-run double in the Rays’ win over the Blue Jays on Monday.

Duffy jump-started the Rays offense with a one-out single off Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman in the first inning, and eventually came around to score later in the frame. He drilled a two-run double into the left-center field gap, plating Nick Ciuffo and Mallex Smith, in the second inning. The 27-year-old third baseman notched his 42nd multi-hit effort in 115 games this year. He’s hitting .299/.356/.375 with 50 runs scored, four homers, 39 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 491 plate appearances.
Sep 3 - 9:57 PM

Matt Duffy went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Red Sox on Sunday.

Duffy hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth to score one run, and he knocked in another with an RBI doubled in the sixth. The double is the 16th of the season for the third baseman, and the three hits push his season average to .300. It's also 4-of-5 games that Duffy has multiple hits, so he appears to be ending the year on a hot note. He's still not hitting for much power (.375 slugging), but Duffy's ability to make hard contact to all parts of the field make him a decent -- if not exciting -- fantasy option as a corner infielder.
Aug 26 - 4:21 PM

Matt Duffy went 0-for-4 on Wednesday, leaving him 1-for-16 since the All-Star break.

He's batting .239 with one extra-base hit in 67 at-bats for the month. He's been a perfectly solid player overall this year, so he's not about to be taken out of the lineup. The Rays, though, could consider moving him down in the order until he starts hitting/
Jul 25 - 3:08 PM

Matt Duffy (back) went 0-for-3 in his return to action Sunday against the Twins.

Duffy missed the first two games out of the All-Star break while nursing back spasms, but he's feeling better now. The 27-year-old has been excellent when healthy this year, batting .314/.369/.410 with four homers, 27 RBI, and seven steals over 81 games.
