Willson Contreras had a double and a triple in Sunday's win over the Brewers.

Contreras had just two extra-base hits on the year coming into the game, doubling his season output. Unfortunately, both times the hits came with nobody on, and the Cubs couldn't bring him around to score. Even so, it was nice to see the extra-base pop as he still looks for his first homer of the year.

Willson Contreras went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in a win over the Brewers on Thursday.

Contreras had three of the Cubs' 13 hits in the eight-run outburst. He had just four hits in 21 at-bats coming into the game. He's still looking for his first homer of the year, but the 25-year-old is too good of an offensive player to be held down for long.
Apr 6 - 12:22 AM

Willson Contreras went 0-for-4 in Monday's loss and is 4-for-21 with eight strikeouts to date.

Most of the Cubs aren't hitting, but since Addison Russell has looked good thus far, the team could consider swapping him and Contreras in the lineup, with Russell moving up to fourth and Contreras down to sixth. Contreras remains a good bet to be a top-three fantasy catcher this year.
Apr 2 - 6:46 PM

Willson Contreras hit a two-run home run in a split-squad loss to the Royals on Sunday.

Contreras banged the two-run shot off Royals starter Danny Duffy in the fifth inning, his fourth homer this spring. The Cubs backstop is locked in as a top-three fantasy option at the position and could be primed for a career year as he continues to get settled in at the highest level.
Mar 18 - 8:29 PM

Willson Contreras (illness) slugged a two-run homer in his return to the lineup Tuesday against the Padres.

Contreras popped a no-doubter over the center field wall off of Jordan Lyles in the third inning. He had been under the weather for a few days but seems to be fine now. Contreras is hitting .353 with two dingers this spring.

Willson Contreras (illness) is expected to return to Cactus League action Tuesday.

Contreras has been under the weather for a few days but is feeling better. He's 5-for-14 with one home run so far this spring.
Mar 11 - 12:44 PM

Willson Contreras went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Saturday's Cactus League win over the Rangers.

Contreras followed up an Anthony Rizzo dinger with a tater of his own in the fourth inning of Saturday's contest. The backstop is looking to build off a rock-solid 2017 campaign in which he slashed .276/.356/.499 with 21 homers and 74 RBI across 377 at-bats. Those numbers could have been even more robust had he not missed over a month with a hamstring injury.
Feb 24 - 7:51 PM

Willson Contreras (forearm) is expected to be ready for Game 4 of the NLCS on Wednesday.

Contreras made an early exit from Tuesday's Game 3 loss to the Dodgers after taking a Mike Montgomery pitch off his forearm in the top of the eighth inning. Barring significant overnight swelling, the 25-year-old catcher should be near the heart of the Cubs' order on Wednesday with the season on the line. Los Angeles leads 3-0 in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series.

Willson Contreras hit a solo home run in Saturday's NLDS Game 2 loss to the Nationals.

After Anthony Rendon got the scoring started with a solo shot in the first inning, Contreras answered with a dinger of his own in the top of the second. The homer was his only hit through two games of the series.

Willson Contreras (knee) went 1-for-3 in his return to the Cubs' starting lineup on Friday.

The hard-hitting backstop sat out on Wednesday after taking a couple of foul balls off of his knee during Thursday's game. The injury shouldn't impact him heading into the postseason.
