May 19 - 10:33 AM

Willson Contreras went 3-for-6 with an RBI single and a run scored Friday against the Reds.

It was the fourth time in his last eight games that Contreras has amassed at least three hits. Not surprisingly, his batting average has climbed along with that. He’s now at .287 after hitting .230 as recently as May 7.

Willson Contreras continued his hot streak on Saturday, going 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI as the Cubs topped the White Sox 8-4.

Contreras came into the day having gone 7-for-10 with seven extra-base hits and eight RBI over his previous two games and it was more of the same in this one. He plated a run with an RBI single in the second inning to run the Cubs' advantage to 5-0 then crushed a two-run homer off of Chris Beck in the seventh. In this ridiculous three game stretch Contreras has taken his season slash from .230/.315/.354 to .281/.352/.516. He had one homer and eight RBI through his first 29 games and has three bombs and 11 RBI in the last three days.
May 12 - 8:01 PM

Willson Contreras blasted a pair of homers and drove in seven runs, leading the Cubs in an 11-2 rout over the White Sox on Friday afternoon.

It just so happened to be Willson Contreras bobblehead day at Wrigley Field and he put on a spectacular show for the crowd. Contreras clubbed a grand slam off of White Sox' starter Carson Fulmer to increase the Cubs' early lead to 5-0 in the first inning. He tacked on a solo shot off of Chris Beck in the sixth inning, then capped the scoring in the ballgame with a two-run double in the seventh. With the career day, he's now slashing .268/.343/.488 with three homers and 16 RBI on the year.
May 11 - 8:55 PM

Willson Contreras delivered three hits Wednesday in Chicago’s win over the Marlins.

He tripled and scored in the third, plated Anthony Rizzo with an RBI double in the sixth, then tripled and scored again in the eighth. Even with Wednesday’s outburst, Contreras is still hitting a paltry .246 for the season with just one homer in 118 at-bats, though he’s now tied for second in the National League with three triples. He’s also tied for seventh in doubles with 10.
May 9 - 7:13 PM

Willson Contreras is batting leadoff for the Cubs on Sunday versus the Cardinals.

Manager Joe Maddon isn't afraid to tinker with a struggling lineup, as he's now batting Contreras at the top of the lineup after hitting Anthony Rizzo there last week. For what it's worth, Contreras is 2-for-5 with two home runs in his career against Cards starter Michael Wacha.
May 6 - 3:45 PM

Willson Contreras went hitless in a third straight game Friday against the Cardinals.

Contreras has gone eight straight games without an RBI and is stuck on just seven RBI for the year. That's quite a disappointment for a catcher who figured to be a big source of power production in the middle of the Cubs lineup. He will get it together, though.
May 5 - 12:01 AM

Willson Contreras is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Rockies.

He's just getting a breather. Victor Caratini will catch Kyle Hendricks and bat sixth.
May 1 - 3:25 PM

Willson Contreras went 2-for-4 with a double in a win over the Brewers on Sunday.

The multi-hit game was a breakthrough of sorts for the 25-year-old, who hadn't had multiple hits in a game since April 10 before Sunday. Even with the relative slump, Contreras is still hitting a respectable .270/.350/.427 through 23 games.
