Dodgers designated INF/OF Rob Segedin for assignment.
The Dodgers needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Josh Fields, who returned from the 60-day disabled list on Thursday, and Segedin was the odd-man out. The 29-year-old has spent the entire year at Triple-A Oklahoma City where he has slashed a disappointing .211/.299/.325 with three homers and 15 RBI in 35 games. Thu, Aug 30, 2018 07:37:00 PM

Dodgers recalled INF/OF Rob Segedin from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Segedin will provide a right-handed bat and versatility off the bench for the Dodgers over the final four weeks of the season. He's just 1-for-7 with a pair of strikeouts in limited action with the Dodgers this season.

Dodgers activated INF/OF Rob Segedin from the 10-day disabled list.

Rob Segedin (wrist) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.

Segedin is working his way back from wrist surgery and also a foot malady. He should be ready for activation later this month but wouldn't appear to be guaranteed a spot with the big club once his rehab is over.

Rob Segedin (wrist) need surgery on his wrist, not on his injured toe, the Dodgers clarified on Friday.

Dodgers placed INF Rob Segedin on the 10-day disabled list with a right big toe strain.

Segedin was just called up on Monday, but has been shuttled off to the disabled list just two days into his stay in the bigs. There is no current timetable for his return. This counts as a depth blow for the Dodgers, as Segedin was expected to receive his fair share of starts against southpaws.

Dodgers optioned OF Rob Segedin to Triple-A Oklahoma City; reassigned 1B Ike Davis, 1B Cody Bellinger, SS Charlie Culberson, 1B O'Koyea Dickson, OF Tyler Holt and RHP Brandon Morrow to minor league camp.

Segedin played well in Cactus League action this spring, going 13-for-32 (.406) while posting a 1.285 OPS. Alas for the 28-year-old outfielder, this strong work was not quite enough to land him on the Opening Day roster. He will serve as organizational depth moving forward, but could see time with the big league club down the road. In 73 at-bats with the Dodgers last season, Segedin hit .233/.301/.370.

Rob Segedin went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and three total RBI in Saturday's Cactus League win over the White Sox.

Segedin whacked a solo home run in the second inning and worked a two-run double in the fifth. The home run was his second of the spring, the double his third. In a 73 at-bat cup of coffee with the Dodgers this past season, the 28-year-old outfielder hit .233/.301/.370 with a pair of homers and 12 RBI. He could once again see big league action in 2017 depending on when the Dodgers need an extra bench piece, though he figures to open the campaign at Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Rob Segedin hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning as Team Italy defeated the Cubs 8-7 in an exhibition game on Tuesday.

Segedin followed a two-out single by Chris Colabello with a shot to right-center against Cubs right-hander Jake Buchanan. Segedin served as Italy's designated hitter for the entirety of the WBC tuneup game in Arizona, finishing 1-for-4. He'll probably open the 2017 regular season with the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City.
