Gregor Blanco told reporters Wednesday that his injured right shoulder still hurts.

He is headed to the Giants' spring training complex in Arizona to try to ramp up his rehab activities, but it sounds like the 32-year-old outfielder is still going to be limited for a while. Blanco landed on the disabled list August 23 with a shoulder impingement.
Aug 31 - 2:01 PM

Giants placed OF Gregor Blanco on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder impingement.

Blanco could be facing an extended absence given the unpredictable nature of shoulder injuries. The 32-year-old utility outfielder has batted .225/.310/.313 in 101 games this season for San Francisco.
Aug 23 - 6:05 PM

Gregor Blanco went 2-for-3, drove in a run and stole a base on Friday.

He drove in the Giants' only run of the night with an RBI single in the second inning. The stolen base was his sixth of the season. He is batting .242 in 211 at-bats and is not a good fantasy option unless you play in a deep NL-only league.
Jul 30 - 1:45 AM

Gregor Blanco (knee) has returned to the Giants starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Diamondbacks.

Blanco has been held out of the starting lineup for nearly a week due to a strained left knee, but is ready to return in the final contest before the All-Star break. He'll bat seventh against Archie Bradley and the D'Backs.
Jul 10 - 4:21 PM

Gregor Blanco (knee) belted his first home run of the season as a pinch-hitter in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Blanco continues to be held out of the starting lineup due to a strained left knee, but he was still able to make a difference off of the bench in this one. He should be ready to rejoin the starting lineup at some point over the weekend.
Jul 9 - 8:43 AM

Gregor Blanco (knee) flied out as a pinch-hitter Tuesday in the Giants' loss to the Rockies.

Blanco was held out of the starting lineup for the third straight game due to a strained left knee. It's considered a relatively minor injury and he should be pretty close to returning to a more active role.
Jul 6 - 8:00 AM

Gregor Blanco was a late scratch from the Giants starting lineup on Tuesday.

Blanco, who has been battling a strained left knee, tried to give it a go but felt soreness during batting practice. He at least appears to be nearing a return to the lineup.
Jul 5 - 8:50 PM

Giants manager Bruce Bochy announced Sunday that Gregor Blanco is dealing with a left knee strain.

He's listed as day-to-day. Blanco sustained the injury in the outfield during Saturday's game. Look for him to return to the Giants starting lineup early in the week.
Jul 3 - 8:20 PM

Gregor Blanco was scratched from Sunday's lineup with knee soreness.

The Giants are also without Denard Span (neck) and Angel Pagan (general soreness). Brandon Belt had been slated for a day off but has now replaced Blanco in left field. Consider Blanco day-to-day.
Jul 3 - 3:18 PM

Gregor Blanco received a cortisone shot in his sore right shoulder.

Blanco said that the shot helped to relieve his discomfort. Given that he saw six at-bats and recorded three hits in Wednesday's rout of the Brewers, this doesn't appear to be anything more than a minor issue.
Jun 15 - 7:07 PM

Gregor Blanco tripled and scored twice in Saturday's 7-2 victory over the Marlins.

Blanco has now tripled three times this year in limited action, and he also added a walk to his impressive day at the plate. His playing time has eroded in the past couple of years and that's continued into 2016, as he had only started two games since the Giants' opening series against the Brewers. After his two-hit performance, he's now hitting .273/.304/.545 in 23 plate appearances.
Apr 24 - 1:55 AM

Gregor Blanco said he's actually been dealing with an oblique injury.

Blanco missed a few games this week with what was reported as back tightness but was actually an oblique issue. Either way, Blanco says he feels good and is ready to play the field again. He went 1-for-2 while serving as the DH Saturday against Oakland.
Mar 19 - 6:51 PM

Gregor Blanco was scratched from Thursday's lineup with back tightness.

It's something he's dealt with for the last week. Consider Blanco day-to-day.
Mar 17 - 5:30 PM

Gregor Blanco will miss a couple of days due to back tightness.

It sounds precautionary more than anything else. Blanco doesn't need any tests, so he should be good to go again soon.
