Gregor Blanco went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Marlins.

Blanco launched a solo dinger off of Marlins starter Jose Fernandez in the fifth inning. He's now working on a nine-game hitting streak. When the streak started, he was slashing .274/.345/.411. He's worked those numbers up to a far more robust line of .318/.384/.452. Blanco has never held a season-slugging mark higher than .374 in his career, so we're somewhat doubtful that this is more than a hot streak, but if he's floating on the wire in deeper leagues, there's no better time to take advantage of his bat, as this might be as good as it gets for the outfielder.
Jul 2 - 3:13 PM

Gregor Blanco went 3-for-4 with an RBI against the Marlins on Wednesday.

Blanco has 14 hits during an eight-game hitting streak, pushing his average all of the way up to .314. He's been a savior for the Giants with two starting outfielders on the DL and the third, Angel Pagan, limited of late.
Jul 1 - 10:11 PM

Gregor Blanco reached four times from the leadoff spot Tuesday, going 2-for-3 with two walks against the Padres.

Again one of the league's best part-timers, Blanco is hitting .283 with 16 walks in 127 at-bats. He'll continue to play quite a bit with Hunter Pence set to miss at least a couple of more weeks.

He's back in the Giants lineup on Friday, playing right field and batting eighth. He has missed nearly two weeks of action due to concussion symptoms after being hit in the head by an infield throw during warmups.

Jun 19 - 8:10 AM

Gregor Blanco (concussion) could be activated from the 7-day disabled list on Thursday.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the activation will depend on whether Blanco can make it through pregame activities prior to Wednesday's game. Blanco has been sidelined since last Wednesday after being hit in the head by an infield warmup throw.
Jun 17 - 8:47 PM

Assuming all goes well, Blanco could be activated Tuesday. The 31-year-old has been sidelined since June 7.
Jun 16 - 2:55 PM

Gregor Blanco (concussion) could be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday or Thursday.

It was reported Sunday that Blanco was still having post-concussion issues, but he's evidently made a big improvement over the last 24 hours. He first experienced concussion symptoms over a week ago.
Jun 15 - 8:01 PM

Gregor Blanco (concussion) is still experiencing dizziness.

Blanco has already been out of action for a week and it appears he's not close to a return. Obviously, the Giants will be careful with him.
Jun 14 - 2:44 PM

Giants placed OF Gregor Blanco on the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Blanco suffered the injury over the weekend when he got struck in the head by a infield warmup throw. It sounds like a minor concussion, but brain injuries are tricky and it's not worth speculating on a return date.
Jun 10 - 5:47 PM

Gregor Blanco was scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to concussion symptoms.

Blanco first experienced the symptoms over the weekend when he was hit in the head by a ball during batting practice and had a setback pre-game on Tuesday. It's not clear whether the outfielder might require a trip to the concussion disabled list.
Jun 9 - 10:44 PM

Gregor Blanco went 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored before being removed for a pinch-hitter Thursday against the Reds.

Blanco was getting a start in the leadoff spot with Nori Aoki needing the night off. He's about to see his playing time reduced with Hunter Pence nearing his return, but he should still stay busier than the typical fourth outfielder.
May 14 - 10:35 PM

Gregor Blanco went 2-for-3 with a walk and a double in Sunday's Cactus League loss to the Angels.

Blanco's spring average is up to .323 (10-for-31), a good sign for the Giants as he is their No. 1 option to fill in for Hunter Pence in right field. Though the Giants could swap Aoki in left field and Blanco, manager Bruce Bochy said he prefers someone with familiarity with AT&T Park's "quirky outfield".
