Gregor Blanco hit a two-run homer and walked Thursday in the win over the Rockies.
Blanco had one homer in 277 at-bats this season before going deep twice in his last four starts. Today's was a no doubter over the high wall in right at AT&T Park; it wasn't that far away from being a splash hit. Aug 28 - 6:49 PM

Gregor Blanco went 2-for-5 with a triple, home run and two runs scored in a loss to the Nationals on Sunday.

Leading off the game, Blanco took Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg deep. The homer was his second of the season. Blanco tripled to lead off the sixth, scoring on a Hunter Pence sacrifice fly. It was a good game for the defense-first outfielder, who's hitting .252/.326/.333 on the season.
Aug 24 - 6:45 PM

Gregor Blanco went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's loss to the Cardinals.

The Giants surely wish Blanco would have had a game like this when he was still hitting leadoff, but they'll take it from the No. 8 spot. The nice day elevates the outfielder's batting line this season to a still-horrid .236/.311/.303.
Jul 3 - 7:10 PM

Gregor Blanco went 2-for-4 with three RBI in the Giants' 6-4 win over the Mets on Sunday.

Blanco came through with a two-run double in the second inning, just his second double of the year, and he contributed an RBI single in the seventh. The part-time outfielder is hitting .253/.343/.345 on the season.
Jun 8 - 9:59 PM

Gregor Blanco went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Sunday's win over the Twins.

Blanco had three of the Giants' 12 hits against Ricky Nolasco and the Twins on the afternoon. The three hits were nearly half of his season total coming into the game -- before Sunday, Blanco had been 8-for-56 (.143) this year. He remains nothing more than a situational player for the Giants.
May 25 - 8:30 PM

Gregor Blanco singled, walked twice, stole three bases and scored three runs versus the Braves on Wednesday.

Blanco is the first Giant to steal three bases since he did so two years ago against the A's. He entered the game with just one steal this season. Even after today, he's batting just .136. Still, he'll have some fantasy value if Angel Pagan's knee problems force him to the DL at some point.
May 14 - 7:36 PM

Gregor Blanco went 0-for-4 on Friday and is just 2-for-20 to start the season.

The Giants decided to sacrifice defense for offense and sign Mike Morse to play over Blanco this year. It's worked out for them so far, with Morse hitting .306/.392/.510 in the early going. They'd still certainly like to see Blanco contribute more in his reserve role, though.

Giants avoided arbitration with OF Gregor Blanco by agreeing to a one-year, $2.525 million contract.

It was Blanco's first year of arbitration eligibility. The speedy 30-year-old is slated to open the 2014 campaign as the Giants' fourth outfielder.
Jan 17 - 11:36 AM

Gregor Blanco has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.

Blanco had to leave Sunday's season finale with the injury, but he'll obviously have plenty of time to recover. The outfielder will be arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter.

Gregor Blanco scored four runs from the leadoff spot Friday against the Padres.

Blanco singled, walked twice and stole a base in the contest. It's the first time in his career that he's scored four runs in a game. He had scored three times just twice, once in 2008 with the Braves and once last year for the Giants.

Gregor Blanco went 3-for-5 with an RBI ground-rule double and a run scored Thursday against the Padres.

Blanco was in a deep, deep funk from the end of June into early July, but he now has three multi-hit games in his last five. The Giants are sticking with him out of the leadoff spot with Angel Pagan (hamstring) sidelined, so he should continue to have value in NL-only formats. He'll need to be a bit more active on the basepaths to be interesting in mixed leagues.

Gregor Blanco went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and an RBI single in Friday's win over the Braves.

The home run was a leadoff shot against Kris Medlen. It was his first round-tripper of the season and just his eighth in 451 games in the majors. The 29-year-old should continue to start against right-handers -- and he's been the primary leadoff man with Angel Pagan on the DL -- but he's mostly only an option in NL-only leagues.

Leadoff man Gregor Blanco went 3-for-5 with a double, a steal and two runs scored against the Pirates on Thursday.

He also knocked in two runs and walked once. Blanco had been struggling while filling in for Angel Pagan in the leadoff spot, hitting .224 and scoring just three runs in 13 games.

Leading off both games, Gregor Blanco went 0-for-4 in the nightcap and 1-for-8 overall in Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Blanco's walk rate is down this year and he's not hitting for any power. That was fine when he was batting .293 a week and a half ago, but he's in a 4-for-34 slump that's dropped his average to .260. He's not much of an asset in NL-only leagues.

Gregor Blanco finished 2-for-2 with four RBI as the Giants routed the Braves on Saturday afternoon.

Blanco didn't enter the game until the fifth inning but still had an immense impact, cranking an RBI double and a triple. He lifted his OPS from .650 to .713.
