Elliott Sadler (No. 1 OneMain Financial Chevrolet) finished second in Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) season-opening PowerShares QQQ 300 at Florida's Daytona Int'l Speedway.

He started 11th in the lineup, led 2 laps and completed all the 143 laps run. Sadler is currently second in the 2018 NXS driver championship standings after this event, nine points behind leader Tyler Reddick (winner of the race).

Elliott Sadler (No. 1 OneMain Financial Chevrolet) stole the show last February at Daytona International Speedway, claiming the first two stage wins of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season opener.

In 17 NXS starts at DIS, Sadler has earned six top-five and eight top-10 finishes with one pole award (1997). In his last two starts on restrictor-plate racetracks, Sadler has claimed a pair of runner-up finishes. The Virginia native also earned one stage win during the July event at Daytona. Elliott Sadler was announced Tuesday as the 2017 National Motorsports Press Association’s Most Popular Driver in the NASCAR XFINITY Series for the second straight year.

Sadler, who was also the top vote-getter in 2011 and 2016, becomes only the third XFINITY Series driver to win the award three times. Brad Keselowski (2008-10) and Kenny Wallace (1991, 1994, 2006) are the other three-time recipients. The award for Sadler, 42, is the latest in a six-year run by drivers for JR Motorsports. Other JRM winners of the XFINITY Series’ Most Popular Driver Award: Chase Elliott (2014-15), Regan Smith (2013), Danica Patrick (2012) and Keselowski (2008-09).

Sadler (No. 1 OneMain Financial Chevrolet) finished eighth in last Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) season-ending Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, FL.

He started 14th in the lineup and completed all of the 200 laps run. Sadler competed in all 33 series races this year and closed out the season second in the 2017 NXS driver championship standings.

Through consistency and strong finishes, Elliott Sadler (No. 1 OneMain Financial Chevrolet) has advanced his way into the Championship 4 for the second consecutive year and will race for the NASCAR XFINITY Series title this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

In 11 starts at HMS, Sadler has two top-five and five top-10 finishes. The Virginia native has led laps in five of those events. At 1.5-mile tracks this season, the veteran driver has earned three top-five and eight top-10 finishes. A championship this weekend would be Sadler’s first within NASCAR’s top-tier series. He started 13th in the lineup and completed all laps of the 200-lap race. Since this was the elimination race for the Chase Round of 8, only the top four in the 2017 NXS Championship standings move on to next weekend's Chase Championship 4 season-ending race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Sadler is ranked second after this event and will continue competing for the series title.
