Over the last week, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran Mike Skinner has landed a ride for the season-opening race and the support of two local sponsors.

The former Daytona Beach resident announced that he would race for Eddie Sharp Racing at Daytona after landing the support of American Auto last week, and has since signed Paytas Homes to support the No. 8 Chevrolet. Paytas Homes owner, Jim Paytas, a longtime friend of the 1995 NCWTS Champion, also backed Skinner for two races during the 2011 season.-Eddie Sharp Racing

Mike Skinner will return to the series for the first time in nearly a year, driving the No. 8 Chevrolet Silverado for Eddie Sharp Racing in the 2012 season opener at Daytona.

Skinner failed to qualify for last year’s NextEra Energy 250 at Daytona in a Sharp entry, before finishing 24th the following week at Phoenix International Raceway. Those were his only two Truck Series outings of 2011, but he made 21 Sprint Cup starts for a number of teams, including Germain Racing, FAS Lane Racing, Tommy Baldwin Racing and Gunselman Motorsports.
