Erik Darnell was named the permanent replacement for J.J. Yeley at Whitney Motorsports Tuesday, filling out the season in the mostly start-and-park No. 46 effort.

Darnell will run in every race except for Watkins Glen. Yeley left the team early last week to run with Front Row Motorsports for the rest of 2011.-FrontStretch.com

Erik Darnell will replace J.J. Yeley in the No. 46 Whitney Motorsports Chevrolet this weekend at New Hampshire.

Darnell, 28, drove trucks and cars for Roush Fenway Racing from 2006 to 2010. Darnell won two races in the Camping World Truck Series and posted two top five finishes in the Nationwide Series in 2009. That same season, Darnell competed in seven races for Hall of Fame Racing.-FoxSports.com

While it’s hard to believe, as his series career has spanned three seasons, Erik Darnell will make his first NASCAR Nationwide Series start this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

Darnell has previously scored one top-10 finish in six Camping World Truck Series starts at the 1.5-mile speedway. This weekend is Darnell’s final start of 2010 with the No.16 team.-Roush Fenway Racing

Roush Fenway Racing announced Erik Darnell will pilot the No. 16 3M Ford in three NASCAR Nationwide Series races during the 2010 season starting at Richmond.

He will also drive in the Nationwide events at Dover and Texas. Darnell, 27, began his Roush Fenway Racing career in the Camping World Truck Series in 2006. In 76 career Truck starts, he notched two wins, 16 top-fives and 32 top-10 finishes along with three pole awards. In 17 Nationwide Series starts, he has two top-five and five top-10 finishes and one pole award.-Roush Fenway Racing

Erik Darnell will make his seventh NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start this weekend in the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway behind the wheel of the No. 96 Hall of Fame Racing Ford Fusion.

This weekend’s start will be his first Cup Series start at Homestead. He will also be making his first Nationwide Series start at HMS. Darnell has three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at HMS. His best start at HMS is fifth place; his best finish is third, both achieved in 2006. -Yates Racing

Erik Darnell has three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at Phoenix and has achieved two top-10 finishes at the 1-mile Arizona track.

Darnell’s best start at Phoenix is third; his best finish is seventh place, both captured in last year’s truck series race. He has completed 341 of the 450 (75.8%) laps he has attempted at PIR – all in Truck Series competition. A crash on lap 41 in the 2007 Truck race ended his night early and relegated him to a 35th-place finish. -Yates Racing

Erik Darnell will make his fifth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start this weekend in the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway behind the wheel of the No. 96 Ford Fusion.

He has six career starts at Texas, all in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He has on top-10, two top-15 and three top-20 finishes. His best start at Texas is 12th and best finish is ninth. He has completed 686 of the 953 (72%) laps he has attempted at TMS. A crash and parts failures have resulted in three DNFs for Darnell at TMS in Truck Series competition. -Yates Racing

Erik Darnell takes over the reins of the No. 96 Ford this weekend at the Talladega Superspeedway.

The start will mark the rookie’s fourth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and fourth at the 2.66-mile tri-oval. His three starts at Talladega were all made in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He achieved one pole, two top-20 and one top-15 finish. He completed 260 of 282 (92.2%) of the laps he has attempted at Talladega. He has led 53 laps there. -Yates Racing

Erik Darnell returns to pilot the No. 96 Northern Tool + Equipment Ford Fusion this weekend at the Kansas Speedway for the Price Chopper 400.

He has made just three starts at Kansas – all in Truck Series competition. He has one win, one top-five and one top-10 finish at the 1.5-mile track. Darnell captured his career-first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory at Kansas Speedway on April 28, 2007. He beat second place Rick Crawford by a margin of 10.44 seconds. - Yates Racing
