Marcos Ambrose posted the fifth-fastest single lap in the second practice session for the Pure Michigan 400. His top speed clocked in at 202.891 mph.
Michigan has been one of Ambrose’s best unrestricted, intermediate speedways during his career and he needs a strong run there in order to be considered a dark horse to win at Bristol next week. A victory this week is unlikely, but with the right strategy he should challenge for a top-10. Aug 16 - 10:01 AM

Marcos Ambrose chased AJ Allmendinger to the finish line and came up one position short of winning the Cheez-it 355k at the Glen. He led 19 laps en route to his second-place finish.

All week the fantasy coverage at Rotoworld.com predicted the win would come down to these two drivers and they did not disappoint. Ambrose’s near win improves his odds of finishing well in one of the final four regular season races—particularly on the short track of Bristol Motor Speedway.

Sprint Cup regular (No. 9 Ford Fusion) Marcos Ambrose wins the 20th Annual Zippo 200 at The Glen, his fifth victory in 77 NASCAR Nationwide Series races.

This is the No. 09 Stanley Ford Mustang driver's first victory and first top-10 finish in 2014. It is Ambrose's fourth victory and fourth top-10 finish in five NNS races at Watkins Glen International.
Aug 9 - 7:43 PM

Marcos Ambrose posted the second fastest single lap in the final practice session for the Cheez-it 355k at the Glen. His top speed was 128.682 mph, which was only 3/1,000ths of a second slower than AJ Allmendinger’s best time.

Ambrose and Allmendinger should be considered co-favorites to win the pole on Saturday and the race on Sunday. They will be on a majority of rosters and cautious fantasy owners will neither gain nor lose many points if these drivers are activated.

Sprint Cup regular (No. 9 Ford Fusion) Marcos Ambrose tops the speed chart in the Happy Hour practice session for the Nationwide Series Zippo 200 at The Glen at Watkins Glen International.

The No. 09 Stanley Ford Mustang driver ran a fast lap of 123.193 mph. No. 22 Brad Keselowski, No. 12 Joey Logano, No. 62 Brendan Gaughan and No. 54 Kyle Busch round out the top five of the 39 cars out on the track. The No. 10 Toyota driven by Blake Koch was the slowest in the final practice session.
Aug 8 - 4:16 PM

Marcos Ambrose posted the fifth fastest single lap in the first practice session for the Cheez-it 355k at the Glen. His top speed was 126.356 mph.

Ambrose has appeared much more relaxed this weekend than he did at Sonoma and that could spell trouble for the competition. A fast Ford does not hurt his outlook either.
Aug 8 - 2:58 PM

Marcos Ambrose’s perfect streak of top-three finishes literally came crashing to a halt last year at Watkins Glen. He should be able to rebound this week and challenge for victory once more.

The No. 9 team tested at Watkins Glen during the week between Indy and Pocono. They view this as their best chance to win a spot in the Chase and have better odds than anyone else in the field.

Five-time Watkins Glen winner Marcos Ambrose will double down this weekend at the famed New York road course.

With support from STANLEY, Richard Petty Motorsports will enter Ambrose in the No. 09 STANLEY Racing Ford in Saturday's Nationwide Series Zippo 200. Ambrose is a three-time winner of the event, winning consecutive races from 2008-2010. Ambrose will then compete in his familiar No. 9 STANLEY Racing Ford on Sunday looking for his third Sprint Cup Series win at the track.-Breaking Limits

Marcos Ambrose has earned only two top-20 finishes on flat tracks this year. He was scored fifth at Martinsville and 18th at Richmond. His last Pocono performance ended in a 24th-place finish.

Since then Ambrose finished 27th at New Hampshire and 22nd at Indy, which suggests he has settled into a pattern. A test earlier this week at Watkins Glen should improve his performance slightly because of the extra seat time.
Aug 1 - 7:22 PM

Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) left the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and flew directly to the road course in Watkins Glen, New York for a two-day test session for Marcos Ambrose and Aric Almirola beginning today, July 28th.

The goal of the test will be to collect information to help give Ambrose and Almirola the best setup possible before returning in two weeks for the race. If Ambrose can win the event, it will help secure him and Almirola into the championship run at the end of the season. RPM heads to this test this week with Almirola nearly locked into The Chase and giving Ambrose its full efforts to secure his spot too.-Breaking Limits
Jul 28 - 7:46 PM

Marcos Ambrose will join his teammate Aric Almirola at the back of the field because of a transmission change. He will give up his 22nd-place position on the grid.

Former road course racers should be strong on flat tracks, but that has not been the case for Ambrose at this track. Track position is important at Indy, so Ambrose will struggle to finish in the top 20.
Jul 27 - 1:15 PM

Conventional wisdom holds that flat tracks behave like road courses to some extent since drivers need to brake before entering the corners. Marcos Ambrose has long rejected that notion and his results at Indy are part of the reason why. His best effort there was a 16th earned last year.

Ambrose could hold a few surprises, however. Three of his last four results this year ended in top-15s. Notably his one dissenting result came last week on the flat New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but Ambrose could be a dark horse to score a top-15 if he practices and qualifies well.
Jul 23 - 12:09 PM

Marcos Ambrose’s 2014 season-to-date has been bookended by two strong runs apiece during the spring and summer. He finished fifth at Bristol and Martinsville in March, and then scored an eighth at Sonoma and 10th at Daytona in the past four weeks.

Ambrose was expected to run better at Sonoma and anything can happen in a plate race, but if he can regain his mojo when the series returns to the short tracks later this year, he could be one of the most pleasant surprises in those events.
Jul 17 - 4:37 PM

Marcos Ambrose finishes 10th in Sunday's rain-shortened NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

He started the No. 9 Ford Fusion 18th on the grid for the Coke Zero 400. He moved up one spot to 19th in the 2014 NSCS point standings.
Jul 7 - 1:43 PM

Marcos Ambrose will debut the colors of Black and Decker this weekend on the Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) No. 9 Ford Fusion.

Ambrose has three previous starts at Kentucky with RPM. The track has proved to be one his best ovals on qualifying day with an average start inside the Top-10. His best start is fifth just last season. He has completed every lap he's ever raced at Kentucky and has a pair of Top-15 finishes. Ambrose's best finish at Kentucky is 13th.-Breaking Limits
