Marcos Ambrose earned a spot in this weekend's Sprint All-Star Race with his dramatic win at Watkins Glen International last season.

He passed Sprint Cup Champion Brad Keselowski in the final turns to capture his second consecutive win at the New York road course. In his eight starts at Charlotte, the Australian native has collected one top-five and two top-10 finishes, all with the No. 9 team. He tallied his best start of sixth in 2011 and finish of ninth last season, both with Richard Petty Motorsports and the No. 9 team. Marcos Ambrose was at the top of the speed chart in the Happy Hour practice leading to the Sprint Cup NRA 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

The No. 9 Ford Fusion driver put up a 191.354 mph lap in the final practice. No. 18 Kyle Busch, No. 43 Aric Almirola, No. 78 Kurt Busch and No. 56 Martin Truex Jr. were the rest of the top five and No. 87 Joe Nemechek was the slowest of the 45 cars running in this session.

After a weekend off, Marcos Ambrose and the No. 9 Stanley Ford team are ready to get back to racing in Sunday's STP Gas Booster 500 at the .526-mile Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

Ambrose has secured three top-15 finishes at the paper clip track in his eight career starts, including a 15th-place finish last spring. This Saturday night, Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM), for the first time, will start their two cars in the Sprint Unlimited exhibition race for 2012 pole winners and past "Unlimited" winners.

Marcos Ambrose and the No. 9 Stanley Ford team and Aric Almirola and the No. 43 Smithfield Ford team will both be making their first starts in the event. Ambrose qualified for the event after winning two poles in 2012 (Sonoma and Michigan in June) while Almirola led the field to the start of the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte in May last year. The three poles proved the continued progress of RPM in 2012 and now allow the team to get a head start in 2013.-Richard Petty Motorsports

The defending Rolex 24 At Daytona Champions Michael Shank Racing confirmed that NASCAR driver Marcos Ambrose will join Michael Shank Racing for the 2013 Rolex 24 At Daytona to drive the No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Ford-Riley.

Ambrose, who impressed in testing with the team during the "Roar Before the 24" over the weekend, will supplement the driving line up of AJ Allmendinger, Justin Wilson, John Pew, and Ozz Negri as Negri continues to heal from an off-season testing injury. The Roar testing proved productive for the Shank organization, as the team led five of eight practice sessions during the weekend between the two team Daytona Prototype entries. Ambrose has previous experience in the Rolex 24 At Daytona and with the NASCAR Preseason Thunder kicking off this weekend, is getting plenty of seat time on both the oval and the 3.56-mile road course at Daytona International Speedway as he prepares to kick off a busy season.-Richard Petty Motorsports

Richard Petty Motorsports announced Drew Blickensderfer has been assigned as the crew chief of the No. 9 team and driver Marcos Ambrose.

Blickensderfer comes to RPM most recently from Richard Childress Racing where he was the crew chief for Jeff Burton. Prior to his time there, Blickensderfer spent the majority of his career with teams associated with Ford Racing and Roush-Fenway Racing. He is a former Daytona 500 champion and has multiple Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series wins with drivers Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth. Ambrose has one win, eight top-10 and three top-five finishes this season. In addition, Ambrose has won two poles this year.-Richard Petty Motorsports
