Veteran road racer Max Papis is scheduled to compete in three NASCAR Nationwide Series races in 2013 under the Richard Childress Racing banner, including two road course races and one oval event, driving the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro.
The Como, Italy native is scheduled to drive the No. 33 at Iowa Speedway (June 8), Road America (June 22), and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (Aug. 17). Papis began his racing career in go-karts as a child. Since then, his skill behind the steering wheel has taken him throughout the world to compete in, among others, NASCAR, Formula 1, Indy Car, and sports car racing, including the 24 Hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of LeMans endurance races and V8 Supercar.-Richard Childress Racing Feb 12 - 7:29 PM

Max Papis tops the speed chart in the Happy Hour practice session for the Nationwide Series Sargento 200 at Road America.

He ran a fast lap of 109.282 in the No. 33 Chevrolet. No. 18 Michael McDowell, No. 30 Nelson Piquet Jr., No. 22 Jacques Villeneuve and No. 12 Sam Hornish Jr. rounded out the top five of the 36 cars out on the track. The No. 24, driven by Casey Roderick, was the slowest in the final practice session.

This weekend's 50-lap event marks Max Papis' second appearance at the Elkhart Lake, Wis.-based facility.

His lone Nationwide Series start at the 14-turn road course came in 2011 when Papis earned his career-best starting position of second and contended for the win in the late stages of the race when contact from another competitor knocked him off course severely damaging his race car, relegating him to a 23rd-place result. He has nine road-course races on his Nationwide Series resume with his career best finish of second coming at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in August 2009. -Richard Childress Racing

Road-course specialist Max Papis has been tapped to pilot RCR's No. 33 Rheem/Menards Chevrolet when the NASCAR Nationwide Series visits Road America on June 23.

In addition to competing at the 14-turn road course, Papis will serve as a driver coach for fellow RCR teammates, assisting in strengthening their road-course racing skills.Papis, a native of Italy who now resides in North Carolina, has nine road-course races on his Nationwide Series resume with his career best finish of second coming at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in August 2009. The 2004 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series champion has also competed in six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series road-course events, posting his best finish of eighth at Watkins Glen International in the same year.-Richard Childress Racing

Max Papis makes the most improvement in the series after the Camping World Truck Series Coca-Cola 250 at Talladega Superspeedway.

He started 23rd and his 10th place finish was 19 places better than his last NCWTS finish. This earned the No. 9 driver $2,100 and the Featherlite "Most Improved Driver" award. He is currently 18th in the 2011 NCWTS point standings after this event.

Max Papis takes a big hit in the point standings after the Camping World Truck Series VFW 200 at Michigan International Speedway.

He started the No. 9 truck 16th in the lineup. He finished the race 6 laps down to the leaders and was scored in 19th place. He dropped 2 spots to 16th in the 2011 NCWTS standings.

Max Papis takes the biggest hit in the point standings after the Camping World Truck Series Lucas Deep Clean 200 at Nashville Superspeedway.

He started the No. 9 Toyota 24th in the lineup. The engine gave up on lap 105 of the 150 lap event. Papis was credited with a 27th place finish. He dropped 3 spots to 15th in the 2011 NCWTS standings. This was the biggest drop among drivers making all 12 races this season.

He ran a fast lap of 108.991 mph in the No. 33 car. No. 18 Michael McDowell, 22-Jacques Villeneuve, 7-Ron Fellows and 66-Steve Wallace rounded out the top five of the 36 cars out on the track. The No. 55, driven by Brett Rowe, was the slowest in the final practice session.

While this Saturday's event will mark Max Papis' first Nationwide Series start at Road America, it will not be his first time to compete at the 14-turn road course.

The Italian-born driver competed in the Champ Car Series for eight seasons collecting several podium finishes at Road America. He will drive the Kevin Harvick Inc. No. 33 for the second time. He made his first start with the team at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal last season in the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet. Max Papis secures the last qualifying slot open to teams outside of the top 25 in owners points for the Camping World Truck Series race.

His lap of 174.439 mph in the No. 9 truck was 36th fastest in qualifying. He will line up 36th for the Camping World Truck Series NextEra Energy Resources 250.

Max Papis had the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the first practice for the Camping World Truck Series NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway.

His average of 189.642 mph in the No. 9 was best of the 10 trucks that ran 10 consecutive laps on the track for this session. No. 13 Johnny Sauter, 84-Chris Fontaine, 18-Kyle Busch and 4-Ricky Carmichael were the rest of the top 5 on this list.

Joao Barbosa and two-time overall Rolex 24 winner Terry Borcheller return in the No. 9 Porsche/Riley to defend their 2010 victory, joined by 2002 race winner and 2004 DP class champion Max Papis, 2004 race winner Christian Fittipaldi and JC France.

Papis has competed in the top tier of several forms of racing across the world, including Formula 1, CART, IndyCar, and NASCAR's three national touring series. He has competed in the Rolex Series in both the GT and DP classes since 2000, claiming the DP championship in 2004 with four wins and top 10s in all 12 races with teammate Scott Pruett. Max Papis went to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on a mission to win his first NASCAR event and in an exciting finish and one of the closest in Nationwide Series history, he came inches away from achieving his goal as he finished second in the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet.

Papis crossed the finish line only 0.012 seconds behind winner Boris Said to claim the closest finish on a road course and the fifth-closest finish in the NASCAR Nationwide Series history.-Kevin Harvick Inc.

He ran a fast lap of 96.785 mph in the No. 33. 32-Jacques Villeneuve, 47-Marcos Ambrose, 38-Jason Leffler and 00-Patrick Carpentier rounded out the top five of the 46 cars out on the track. The 59, driven by Kyle Kelley, was the slowest in the final practice session.

For the second week in a row, Kevin Harvick Inc. will welcome a new face to the No. 33 Nationwide Series car lineup, as Max Papis makes his KHI debut this weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada.

Papis is no stranger to the road course of Montreal, having run all three Nationwide Series races at the track. With three starts in the series at the track, Papis has two starts on the outside pole (2008 and 2007). In 2007, when KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick won the inaugural race, Papis earned his career-best NASCAR finish of third among the top-three series (Cup, Nationwide and Truck).-Kevin Harvick Inc.
