DJ Kennington will make his fifth Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series plate start this week in the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway and he has never had an incident-free race.

In four previous starts he retired with crash damage twice, had an engine failure once and was running with crash damage on another occasion. His best finish came in this year’s Daytona 500 when he was 24th – but six laps off the pace.

Gordon Brothers, the global advisory, restructuring and investment firm, will adorn the No. 96 Toyota Camry fielded by Gaunt Brothers Racing (GBR) and driven by D.J. Kennington in this Sunday's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway (Va.).

Sunday's event will mark the third race of the season for GBR and Kennington. Their two previous starts came in February at Daytona and earlier this month at ISM Raceway near Phoenix. It will also serve as Kennington's first Cup Series short track start. He made two Martinsville starts in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition, scoring a best finish of 17th in 2010.-GBR

DJ Kennington may be the most pleasant surprise this week at Ingenuity Sun Media Raceway and earn a result in the mid-20s.

Kennington has two previous starts on this track, so he has some experience. Both came in the fall with a 35th in 2016, but last year he advanced from a 37th-place qualification effort to finish 26th.

Gaunt Brothers Racing (GBR) returns to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series on Sunday, March 11 at ISM Raceway in Avondale, Ariz.

D.J. Kennington will return to the seat of the No. 96 Toyota Camry featuring the livery of longtime sponsor Northern Provincial Pipelines (N.P.P.). This will mark the second start for GBR and Kennington in 2018. Team and driver combined for a 24th-place finish in the season-opening Daytona 500 in February. It served as Kennington's best career Cup Series finish, topping his 26th-place result last year in the fall race at ISM.-Rising Star Management
Mar 5 - 11:07 AM

Gaunt Brothers Racing and D.J. Kennington recovered from an early accident to finish 24th in Sunday's Daytona 500.

Just after the first quarter of the race, Kennington was involved in a three-car accident in which his Lordco/Castrol Toyota Camry sustained damage to its left front and left side. Fortunately, attrition was high during The Great American Race, as three more multi-car accidents throughout the day worked in the team's favor. Kennington completed 201 out of 207 laps -- the 500-mile event was extended due to a late-race accident -- to finish 24th among the 40-car field.-Rising Star Management

DJ Kennington attempted every restrictor-plate, superspeedway last year; he failed to qualify once and failed to finish the three races he made.

Kennington’s best result last year was still not very good for fantasy players because he lost eight place-differential points in the Daytona 500 to finish 36th. He made one other start in 2017 at Phoenix International Raceway and in that event last fall, he was running at the checkers and finished 26th.
Feb 15 - 5:19 PM

A year after qualifying into the 2017 Daytona 500, Gaunt Brothers Racing and D.J. Kennington are returning to Daytona Beach, Fla. for the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season opener on Sunday, Feb. 18.

GBR will field the No. 96 Toyota Camry for Kennington in the 60th running of the 500, allowing the team's Canadian owner, Marty Gaunt, and their Canadian driver another crack at The Great American Race. British Columbia-based Lordco Auto Parts and Castrol (Wakefield Canada), a longtime Kennington partner, will co-sponsor the effort.
