D.J. Kennington (No. 17 Castrol Edge Dodge) finished third in Saturday night's NASCAR Pinty's Series Choko/Fast Eddie 250 at Delaware Speedway in Ontario.

He started seventh in the lineup and completed all laps of the 250-lap race. Kennington, who has competed in both Pinty's races so far this season, advanced seven spots to 10th in the 2017 driver championship standings after this event.

D.J. Kennington lead the field during Saturday's NASCAR Pinty's Series practice session for the Fast Eddie/CHOKO 250 presented by Havoline at Delaware Speedway.

The local driver from nearby St. Thomas, Ontario set a lap of 19.266 seconds (93.429 mph) around the half-mile oval. Kennington's No.17 Castrol Edge Dodge has three prior wins at Delaware Speedway and continued his trend of being fast. Defending series champion Cayden Lapcevich finished the one-hour session in second at 19.312 (93.206) followed by rookie Adam Martin in third (19.339/93.076). Anthony Simone and Mark Dilley rounded out the top five finishers.

D.J. Kennington (No. 17 Castrol Edge Dodge) finished 17th in Sunday's NASCAR Pinty's Series Can-Am 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario.

He started eighth in the lineup and completed 50 laps of the 55-lap race. Kennington, who closed out 2016 ranked sixth in the NPS championship points, starts the 2017 season 17th in the driver standings.

DJ Kennington will attempt to qualify for his second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series start of 2017 this season.

He raced his way into the Daytona 500 field and started 28th. He was involved in an accident, however, and retired on lap 127 with crash damage. He was one of 12 drivers involved in that incident and was in the top 25 at the time.

Triad CNC, a new manufacturing division of Triad Racing Technologies, will adorn the No. 96 Gaunt Brothers Racing Toyota Camry driven by D.J. Kennington in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway on May 7.

DJ Kennington and Gaunt Brothers Racing will reunite for the upcoming Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday, May 7.

In February, Kennington, a native of St. Thomas, Ontario, became the first Canadian since Trevor Boys in 1988 to compete in the Daytona 500. He started 28th in GBR's No. 96 Toyota Camry before recording a 36th-place finish due to his involvement in a multi-car crash in the second half of the event. Additionally, veteran crew chief Mike Ford has joined GBR. Ford, whose record includes 25 victories in points-paying races and non-points exhibitions at the Cup Series level, previously worked with Bill Elliott Racing, Robert Yates Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing.-Rising Star Management

DJ Kennington will once again pilot the the No. 17 Dodge entry as the 2017 NASCAR Pinty’s Series opens competition next month at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

In addition to seeking his third series championship Kennington and his DJK Racing team have formed an alliance with the Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) group for the coming season. He will serve as a driver coach for rookie competitor Armani Williams. The 16-year-old from Detroit, Michigan, will drive the No. 28 for CBRT at six oval track events this season. DJK Racing will provide technical insight and assist with racecar preparations for each race weekend.

With a 14th-place finish in Thursday night's second Can-Am Duel race, Gaunt Brothers Racing and driver D.J. Kennington qualified the No. 96 Lordco/Castrol Toyota Camry into the 59th running of the Daytona 500. Kennington will start 28th in Sunday's race.

With a result of 14th in his Can Am Duel at Daytona, DJ Kennington was the highest-finishing non-chartered driver in his heat and will start the Daytona 500 28th.

Kennington will be the open driver who starts closest to the front of the pack. Corey LaJoie starts 31st based on his Duel finish, while Brendan Gaughan and Elliott Sadler start on the final row based on their time trial speed. Kennington is not likely stay with the leaders, however, and there are better dark horses available.

Kennington will be in a non-chartered entry and must race his way into the event through the qualifiers. He is a long-shot to fill one of the final five positions in the event and should be approached with caution by fantasy players.

Gaunt Brothers Racing, owned by Triad Racing Technologies president Marty Gaunt, will return to NASCAR competition in 2017.

Participating in four restrictor plate races in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, GBR's select schedule begins with the 59th running of the Daytona 500, when D.J. Kennington will take the wheel of the team's Toyota Camry. GBR previously competed in what is now the NASCAR Pinty's Series in 2011. GBR is fielding the Toyota Camry in partnership with longtime Triad client RAB Racing, led by Robby Benton. RAB Racing will partner in supplying cars, shop space and technical support to the GBR effort. Kennington, hailing from St. Thomas, Ontario, is a two-time NASCAR Pinty's Series champion and 19-time Pinty's Series race winner.-Rising Star Management

DJ Kennington will make his Cup debut this week in Phoenix International Raceway driving the No. 55 Premium Motorsports entry.

Kennington has seven starts on this track in the XFINITY series, but he failed to finish on the lead lap in any of them. His best results was 22nd in the 2008 fall Hefty Odor Block 200 when he was two laps off the pace.

He started 2nd in the lineup, led three laps and completed all laps of the 250-lap event. Kennington, who started in all 12 series races this season, is 6th in the final 2016 NPS championship standings.
