Robby Gordon returns to NASCAR Sprint Cup competition this weekend at Sonoma Raceway in the No. 7 MAPEI / SPEED Energy Dodge Charger.
Gordon has been busy during his break from stock car racing; he has competed in several off-road races and posted wins at The Mint 400, The Parker 425 and The Silver State 300. Winner of the 2003 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the Sonoma, Gordon will be making his 15th start at the 1.99 mile road course. He has also recorded three top 5 and four top 10 finishes. "Even though I have been out of the NASCAR scene for about three months, we have been extremely busy with off-road racing and the introduction of SST. The No. 7 team is outside the top 35 in owners points and not guaranteed a start in this weekend’s Cup race. His qualifying speed was 43rd fastest, which was not good enough to make the cut for the event.

Robby Gordon Motorsports and SPEED Energy have formed a partnership with BIGFOOT 4x4, Inc., owner of the most well–known monster truck in the United States.

Robby Gordon, and BIGFOOT 4x4, Inc. have entered into a multi-year agreement beginning with the 2012 season. The addition of the monster truck, built at Gordon’s race shop in Charlotte, NC, will be the nineteenth chassis in the line-up of BIGFOOT trucks. During the first year of the agreement the monster truck will be used primarily for display purposes. From there the truck will participate in events, with the possibility of Gordon being behind the wheel.-Robby Gordon Motorsports

Robby Gordon’s qualifying speed was not good enough to make the field for the Sprint Cup Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

He ran a lap of 182.285 mph in the No. 7 Dodge. It was 45th quickest. Since the team is outside the top 35 in owners points and required to qualify on speed, he did not make the cut.

Having fallen out of the top 35 in owner’s point, Robby Gordon and crew will head to Daytona Beach with one thing on their mind – to qualify for the biggest race of the year.

Gordon will be piloting the No. 7 Mapei / Menards Dodge Charger at the famed 2.5 mile tri-oval. Since making his Daytona debut in the 1991 Daytona 500, he has competed in 23 events at the 2.5 mile superspeedway. In the 2003 Daytona 500, Gordon recorded his best qualifying position in 3rd place and went on to finish the race in 6th place. He later tied his best finish of 6th in the 2008 July event at Daytona.-Robby Gordon Motorsports

Robby Gordon escaped injury despite flipping his Hummer on Saturday and then won the final 18-mile stage Sunday in Peru to finish fifth overall in the event.

The race consisted of 5,052 miles over 13 timed stages throughout Argentina, Chile and Peru through a two-week period. Gordon, who owns his own Dakar entry just as he does in Sprint Cup, won three of the individual stages. Gordon couldn't overcome a pair of crashes and a mechanical issue as he finished 2 hours, 16 minutes behind winner Stephane Peterhansel.-SceneDaily.com

His lap of 178.567 mph in the No. 7 was 39th fastest in qualifying for the Sprint Cup Good Sam Club 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. He will line up in 43rd at the green flag.

Robby Gordon, known as one of the toughest contenders for any road course race event, and the No. 7 team have been preparing for this weekend’s race for weeks now.

The No. 7 SPEED Energy team has tested at Virginia International Raceway and has made improvements to the race car that they hope will bolster their chance at victory lane. This weekend’s Save Mart 350 marks Gordon’s 14th start at Infineon Raceway. The No. 7 Fast Five / SPEED Energy Dodge Charger R/T team is preparing to take the Lone Star state by storm this weekend with their promotion of the upcoming action-thriller Fast Five.

Dodge and Universal have teamed up with Robby Gordon Motorsports and SPEED Energy to promote the April 29th release. In the spring race at Texas last year, Gordon recorded a 26th finish. Robby Gordon grew up in Orange, CA, a short distance from the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

2011 marks the twelfth year he has been racing in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events at Auto Club Speedway. In his 17 starts at the 2.0-mile oval, Gordon has led 11 laps and recorded a top finish of 9th in the fall 2004 event. Thunder Valley is about to get its first taste of SPEED Energy when the No. 7 Dodge Charger R/T of Robby Gordon Motorsports rolls into town.

Since making his first start at Bristol Motor Speedway in 1997, Gordon has logged more than 8,500 laps around the half-mile track during his Sprint Cup career. His best start at BMS came in 2002 when he qualified on the outside pole for the spring race.
