Staying clear of the mayhem allowed Ward Burton to bring his #27 State Water Heater Chevy truck to the checkered flag without a single scratch and a solid eighth place finish.
To help kick off the beginning of his son Jeb’s racing career in NASCAR, Burton climbed behind the wheel tonight for the Daytona NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. Jeb Burton was not yet cleared to drive at Daytona. Ward Burton - Hillman Racing-27-CWTS

After a five-year absence from competing in a NASCAR race, Ward Burton will drive at Daytona in February in the NextEra Energy 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event.

Burton and his 19-year-old son, Jeb, have teamed with Hillman Racing in the Truck Series to run the No. 27 Chevy this season. Ward will race at Daytona because Jeb is not yet qualified to run at Daytona. Burton also will make select starts throughout the truck series schedule. The younger Burton will make his debut behind the wheel in the Kroger 250 at Martinsville on March 31.

Ward Burton will be replaced in the #4 Chevrolet at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Morgan-McClure Motorsports, Inc. announced that Todd Bodine will drive the #4 State Water Heaters/Lucas Oil Chevy for MMM in the final race of the season this weekend at Miami-Homestead Speedway. Both Ward Burton and the MMM team have agreed that this change is the best way to fully evaluate the performance of the team.(MMM PR)

Burton’s lap of 93.414 mph in the #4 ITT State Water Heaters Chevrolet was 36th quickest in qualifying for Sunday’s Subway 500.

Ward Burton secured the last qualifying slot open to teams outside of the top 35 in owners points for the Chicagoland Cup race.

Burton’s lap of 179.581 mph in the #4 State Water Heaters Chevrolet was 36th quickest in qualifying for Sunday’s USG Sheetrock 400. Burton will line up in 43rd spot for the event.

Ward Burton raced his way into the field for the April 21st Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Burton’s lap of 129.590 mph in the #4 State Water Heaters Chevrolet was fast enough to secure the final slot in the lineup open to teams outside of the top 35 in owners points. He’ll roll off 25th on Saturday night for his 3rd Cup start of the season.

All team's outside of the top 35 in owner's points must qualify for the event on speed only. Burton's #4 Morgan-McClure Chevrolet team is currently 36th in points.

The Morgan-McClure Motorsports car driven by 2002 Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton will have to qualify on time to get into the field for the 2007 Daytona 500.

All teams in the top 35 in owner's points at the end of 2006 are guaranteed a start in the February 18th NEXTEL Cup season opener at Daytona. Burton's team, the MMM #4 State Water Heaters Chevrolet finished last season 39th in the owner point standings.

Ward Burton was the fastest car in the Day 5 Busch Series morning test session at Daytona International Speedway.

Burton clocked a speed of 183.782 mph in the Brewco Motorsports #27 Ford in the January 23rd practice session. #17 Ford-Peter Shepherd, #7 Chevrolet-Mike Wallace, #47 Ford-Jon Wood and #04 Chevrolet-Regan Smith were the rest of the top 5 drivers on the speed chart for this session.

Ward Burton was the speed leader in the January 22nd Busch Series morning test session at Daytona.

His speed of 183.329 mph in the Brewco Motorsports #27 Ford was the best of the Day 4 AM session. #24 Chevrolet-Casey Mears, #06 Ford-Eric Darnell, #25 Ford-David Gilliland and #17 Ford-Peter Shepherd were the rest of the top 5 drivers on the speed chart for this session.

In addition to his Cup ride for Morgan-McClure, Ward Burton has been hired to drive a part-time schedule in the 2007 Busch Series.

Brewco Motorsports will put Burton behind the wheel of their #27 Kleenex Ford for 20 races beginning with the season-opening Daytona 300. No word yet on who will drive the car for the other races.

Morgan-McClure Motorsports has announced the hiring of Ward Burton as full-time driver of their entry in the 2007 NEXTEL Cup Series.

Burton had driven MMM's #4 car in three 2006 Cup races with a best finish of 25th at Texas. The Chevrolet will be sponsored by State Water Heaters, a residential and commercial water heaters manufacturer from Tennessee. Burton's last full-time ride in the Cup Series was in the #0 NetZero Chevrolet which he drove up until the November 2004 race at Phoenix.(Morgan-McClure PR)

Ward Burton returns to the Morgan-McClure Motorsports car for the November 5th Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

This is his second 2006 Cup start in the #4 Chevrolet. He drove the car at Martinsville, starting 35th and finished 26th in his first NASCAR start since the end of the 2004 Cup season. Burton's best finish at TMS was a 7th in 1997.

Ward Burton is on the entry list for the October 22nd Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

Burton has been hired in a one-race deal to drive the Morgan McClure #4 Lucas Oil Products Chevrolet. This will be his first NASCAR start since the end of the 2004 season. He drove in 20 Cup races at this track with a best finish of 3rd in 2001. In the Busch Series, he had one win in 8 starts.

Ward Burton released as driver of the #0 Haas Automation Chevrolet.

Burton will be replaced by Mike Bliss starting this weekend at Darlington. Burton was to drive the #47 Acxiom Silverado AllStars truck in the NCTS this Friday but asked to be relieved in that race as well. He will take some time off to look over his options.
