Austin Wayne Self (No. 22 Don’t Mess With Texas/AM Technical Solutions Chevrolet Silverado) returns to Daytona Int'l Speedway, the site of his career-best NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) finish.

In last year’s season-opener, Self crossed the finish line second in a wild race. Friday night’s race will mark the Austin-native’s third NCWTS start at the 2.5-mile track. Self also has two ARCA Racing Series starts at Daytona, coming in 2015 and 2016.-Niece Motorsports

On the heels of setting its 2018 driver line up with rookie of the year contender Justin Fontaine behind the wheel of the No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado and Austin Wayne Self piloting the No. 22 Chevrolet Silverado, Niece Motorsports has named Darrell Morrow and Chris Bohlman as the crew chiefs.

Self’s crew chief, Bohlman comes to Niece Motorsports from Precision Performance Motorsports, where he served as a car chief for the NXS team. Bohlman’s experience with the team also included work with research and development, fabrication, suspension, assembly, setup, seven-post machine, and chassis dyno.-Niece Motorsports

Austin Wayne Self (No. 44 AM Technical Solutions Chevrolet Silverado) finished 17th in last Friday night's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season-ending Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, FL.

He started 18th in the lineup and completed 131 laps of the 134-lap race. Chavous competed in 18 of the 23 truck races this year and closed out the season 15th in the 2017 NCWTS driver championship standings.

Just days after being announced as a full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) driver for Niece Motorsports next season, Austin Wayne Self heads to Texas Motor Speedway for this Friday night’s JAG Metals 350.

Self, a native of Austin, Texas is hoping that confidence carries from the garage to inside his No. 45 United Sorghum Checkoff Program / Don’t Mess with Texas Chevrolet. In 15 races this season driving for AM Racing, Martins Motorsports and Niece Motorsports, Self earned a career-best second place performance in the season-opening NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona and earned an additional top-10 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, both finishes driving for AM Racing. Overall, Self has earned one top-five, two top-10, seven top-15 and 11 top-20 finishes respectively.-Niece Motorsports

Niece Motorsports announced that Austin Wayne Self will join the organization next season, piloting a full time entry in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

2018 will mark the Austin, Texas native’s third season in the Truck Series and his second full-time. To date, Self has 37 starts, with one top-five and three top-10 finishes. "I am very humbled and thankful for this opportunity to drive for Niece Motorsports for 2018," said Self, who has a career-best second place finish in the NCWTS at Daytona. "I’ve been fortunate to run several races for the organization this season and I’m fired up to think what we accomplish in 23 races next season." -Niece Motorsports

Self has made one NCWTS start so far during the 2017, earning a second-place finish in the season-opening race at Daytona. Last season he ran a full NCWTS schedule, earning a top-10 finish (ninth) at Eldora Speedway. Self also has 46 ARCA Racing Series starts, with a win coming at Winchester Speedway in 2015. Austin Wayne Self (No. 22 Go Texan/AM Technical Solutions Toyota Tundra) will not be in the lineup for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Alpha Energy Solutions 250 Martinsville (VA) Speedway.

The team is not guaranteed a start in this weekend’s NCWTS race. Based on NASCAR’s time trial knockout procedure, upon completion of the first round of qualifying, the eligible trucks for starting positions one to 32 is determined. The truck was listed as 33rd on the chart, not among the eligible trucks.
