Norm Benning remains confident he'll secure the financial support required to enter his #57 Chevrolet in all 22 truck events this season.

"The economy is hurting everybody," said Benning, who was 21st in the truck standings in 2012. "The more money I have, the faster I go," said Benning, who had a two-year deal with SoBe before the company was sold to PepsiCo. "We leased top-notched engines, so every little bit helps. I'll be disappointed if I don't do a top 10, if not a top five, at Daytona," said Benning, a commercial jet pilot. He doesn't have to qualify. "Regardless if I don't get a dime, I'm going down to win that race. I'll spend the money myself. It'll be a huge loser for me financially, but I don't care.(Pittsburgh Tribune)-jayski.com

NASCAR has penalized the No. 57 team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series as a result of rule infractions discovered during opening day inspection last Thursday, Oct. 4 at Talladega Superspeedway.

The No. 57 truck was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1; 12-4J; Section 20B-2.3A: (any weight added to the truck must be bolted inside the body shell in an approved weight container and in a position acceptable to NASCAR Officials: Improperly attached weight to the truck bed cover) of the 2012 NASCAR rule book. As a result, crew chief Ted Walters has been fined $5,000, and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31.-NASCAR PR

Norm Benning and the No. 57 team win the O’Reilly Auto Parts award in the Camping World Truck Series Smith’s 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The O'Reilly Auto Parts award and a $1,000 check is presented to the eligible driver who improves the most positions from their starting position (33rd) to their finishing position (15th). Benning, who made 17 of the 21 races so far this season, moved up 2 spots to 21st in the 2011 NCWTS point standings.
