Nelson Piquet Jr. will make his first Cup start this week in the No. 77 Randy Humphrey Ford Fusion.
Piquet will make the show since there are only 43 cars entered and this should not be a start-and-park ride given the team’s limited starts. A Formula 1 refugee, Piquet has some experience on road courses in the heavier stock cars with a victory in the 2012 Road America 200 after leading the field to green from the pole. His two Watkins Glen starts in Nationwide competition both ended in top-10s, which makes him a compelling road ringer if his price is right. Aug 9 - 8:40 AM
