Nelson Piquet Jr. has been fined $10,000, required to participate in sensitivity training as directed by NASCAR, and placed on indefinite probation for violating the sanctioning body’s Code of Conduct policy.
On September 25, Piquet violated Sections 7-5 (Code of Conduct) and 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) of the 2013 NASCAR rule book. "Nelson Piquet Jr. recently communicated an offensive and derogatory term that cannot be tolerated in our sport," said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR senior vice president of racing operations. "NASCAR’s Code of Conduct explicitly spells out in the 2013 rule book our position regarding the use of disparaging terms. Nelson Piquet Jr. (30 Chevrolet) will make his second career NNS start at Kentucky on Saturday night, having previously finished eighth in the first race of the season held at the 1.5-mile oval in June.

The team will have chassis TSM-405 for this Saturday night's race at Kentucky Speedway. TSM-405 was previously used by Piquet Jr. at Atlanta Motor Speedway last month, where he earned a 12th-place finish.-Turner Scott Motorsports

He started ninth and finished 10th. This was ahead of the rest of the 2013 Rookie of the Year contenders. Piquet is 12th in the 2013 NNS point standings.

In the NASCAR Nationwide Series, the No. 30 and No. 32 teams have been penalized for violating Sections 12-1; 12-4J; and 20A-12.8.1(B) (Car failed to meet the minimum front car heights).

These infractions were all discovered during post-race inspection Aug. 31 at Atlanta. Crew chiefs Pat Tryson (No. 30) and Trent Owens (No. 32) have each been fined $10,000. In addition, drivers Nelson Piquet Jr. (No. 30) and Kyle Larson (No. 32) have been docked with the loss of six championship series driver points. Nelson Piquet Jr. will make his third career NNS start at Bristol; he finished 34th at the first race of the season held at the 0.533-mile track after an accident left him and the No. 30 team unable to finish the race.

Piquet Jr. will have a new crew chief starting this weekend at BMS, as veteran crew chief Pat Tryson will take over calling the shots for the No. 30 team. The No. 30 WORX team will have chassis TSM-335 for Friday night's race at BMS. Pat Tryson will take over the crew chief duties for Nelson Piquet Jr. starting in the August 23 race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Tryson, a NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series veteran has served as crew chief for 516 events, earning a total of 10 wins, 66 top-five, 139-top 10s and four poles throughout the three series. Nelson Piquet Jr. wins the Duralast Brakes "Brake in the Race" award at Mid-Ohio in the Nationwide Series.

The award is given to the highest eligible driver in the running order at the time of the first caution of each race. The driver of the No. 30 Chevrolet Camaro, who started fifth and finished 27th (late race accident), earned the award in the Nationwide Series Nationwide Childrens Hospital 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. He is currently 12th in the 2013 NNS point standings.

The inaugural Nationwide Children's Hospital 200 at Mid-Ohio will be the second consecutive road course race for the NNS and Nelson Piquet Jr. will make his first career start at the track.

Pat Tryson is taking on crew chief duties for Nelson Piquet Jr. and the No. 30 Nationwide Series team at Turner Scott Motorsports.

Tryson most recently worked for BK Racing with David Reutimann and the No. 83 team. Tryson replaces Chris Carrier, who led Piquet to two wins and a career-high finish of seventh in the truck series in 2012. However, this season Piquet has not shown the same promise in the Nationwide Series. In 20 starts, Piquet has produced just two top-10 finishes.-FOXSports
