With driver points reset for the top 10 drivers, Peralta shifted his season into high gear, picking up his first career victory, three top-five and four top-10 finishes to hold off Daniel Suárez and earn his first championship in just his first complete season in the series.-NASCAR Toyota Series

Rodrigo Peralta, from Querétaro, Mexico, earned his first NASCAR Toyota Series championship with a fourth-place finish in the Mexico Toyota 240 on Sunday at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

It was enough to hold off Daniel Suárez and the rest of the Desafío field. Peralta finished with an eight-point margin over Suárez. Peralta carried a 15-point advantage into the final event of 2013, with eight other drivers mathematically alive in the championship chase. Peralta and NASCAR’s other 2013 touring champions will be honored at the NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Awards ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Charlotte (N.C.) In the final stretch of the 2013 NASCAR Toyota Series season, the numbers are now in Rodrigo Peralta's favor after the driver of the No. 24 Tame Racing Toyota won the Aguascalientes 240 on Sunday.

Peralta used strategy and patience in claiming his first career victory. After qualifying 13th, the Queretaro native progressively moved his way up charts throughout the afternoon. By the final restart, a green-white-checkered finish, Peralta had closed in race leader Daniel Suarez, over taking him on the final lap en route to his first checkered flag. Sunday's victory catapulted Peralta to the top of the Desafio standings. He currently sits at 1123 points, three ahead of Daniel Suarez (1120) who jumped up from third to second. Rafael Martinez (1110), Ruben Garcia Jr and Hugo Oliveras complete the top five.
