NASCAR Next’s Gray Gaulding (No. 20 Chevrolet) was the last car out in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East qualifying for the Pensacola 150 on Friday at Five Flags Speedway.

He edged Ben Rhodes by .001 of a second to win his first 21 Means 21 presented by Coors Brewing Company Pole Award of the season and the second of his series career. The 16-year-old out of Colonial Heights, Virginia posted a time of 17.287 seconds which works out for an average speed of 104.124 mph on the speedy half-mile track. Rhodes, who was the next-to-last car out, fell just short in his bid for a fifth pole win of the campaign with a time of 17.288 seconds (104.118 mph). He’ll start alongside Gaulding on the front row as he looks for his third straight victory and fourth in five races.

International Speedway before making their way to Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C., for the K&N Pro Series East’s NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 on Saturday.

To tame the "Monster Mile," the four will need to get their trucks dialed in for the 24-degree banking in the turns of the concrete oval. Then, less than 20 hours later, they’ll be behind the wheel of their familiar K&N Pro Series machines trying to find the right setup for the flat quarter-mile at "The Madhouse."
