Tom Hessert, the popular 10-year veteran of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, announced today his return to Venturini Motorsports (VMS) with an abbreviated 2017 race schedule.

Coming off of a career best, second-place finish in last year's ARCA Championship, Hessert will return to the series for five selected events in 2017. With six ARCA victories in 179 starts, he will pilot VMS’ No. 25 Toyota at Daytona (season opener), Talladega, Illinois State Fairgrounds, DuQuoin State Fairgrounds and the Fall Salem Speedway race. Not ruling out a full season return in 2018, he knows his partial schedule will be difficult at times. Hessert said, "It’s probably going to drive me nuts not being inside the race car every weekend. Who knows, maybe I’ll sell more cars." In addition to his racing career, Hessert maintains a busy schedule as General Manager within his New Jersey based family owned Barbera's Autoland car dealership.-VMS

It was a one lap shoot out for the ages, and when the dust settled in overtime, ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards veteran Tom Hessert emerged the winner of the 63rd General Tire GRABBER-Southern Illinois 100 Sunday night under the lights at the DuQuoin (IL) State Fairgrounds mile dirt track.

Hessert overcame an overheating issue early on in the No. 25 Detour Sunglasses Toyota to earn his sixth career ARCA Racing Series victory. He also had to work especially hard to hold off Ken Schrader, Chase Briscoe and Kelly Kovski who were nose to tail with the eventual winner over the last five laps. Coming up on the white flag, the caution came out when Matt Kurzejewski spun right in front of the leaders. That set the stage for the one lap sprint to the finish.

Looking to avenge a heartbreaking outcome in his last series start, Tom Hessert and his No. 25 Venturini Motorsports (VMS) Toyota team are ready to bounce back in Sunday’s 54th ARCA appearance at the famed Illinois State Fairgrounds dirt mile.

He dominated at Berlin Raceway, setting a new track qualifying record and leading the first 106-laps before his chances were swept away after being driven into the outside wall after a mid-race caution restacked the field. No stranger to dirt racing, he competed in USAC prior to making the jump to ARCA, finishing a career best third in the 2004 USAC point standings. Currently occupying the fourth spot in the ARCA Series driver point standings, Hessert believes his team can better their position before the season’s conclusion.-VMS
