He started the No. 44 Tinio Racing/ImperialCars.com Chevrolet on the pole (his 15th NWMT career pole) for the Call Before You Dig 811 150. He is currently 3rd in the 2014 Whelen Modified championship standings.

Bobby Santos, from Franklin, Massachusetts, posted a fast lap of 18.433 seconds (97.651 mph) to secure the pole position for tonight’s Call Before You Dig 811 150.

It marked his 15th career pole in Whelen Modified Tour competition; eight have now come at Stafford, including two in a row. He was also the top tour qualifier at the historic half-mile in June. Santos’ No. 44 Tinio Racing/ImperialCars.com Chevrolet will be joined on the front row by the No. 88 Buzz Chew Chevrolet/Elbow East Chevrolet driven by Woody Pitkat, who posted a fast lap of 18.435 (97.640) to qualify second. Donny Lia, who led afternoon practice, qualified third at 18.458 (97.519).

In a race that featured multiple lead changes on nearly every lap – 35 official lead changes – the Franklin, Mass., driver made just one pass for the lead and led just one lap Saturday. The 130.950 mph lap was the quickest of the 31 cars out on the track for the practice session. No. 70 Andy Seuss, No. 88 Woody Pitkat, No. 4 Donny Lia and No. 15 Todd Szegedy are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 31 Melissa Fifield was the slowest.

Bobby Santos wrestled the lead away from Donny Lia and went on to claim the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory in the Mr. Rooter 161 at Waterford Speedbowl.

It was Santos' second win of the season and 12th of his career. It was his first tour win at Waterford. A green-white-checkered finish pushed the race to 165 laps. Lia, who earlier in the night won the Coors Light Pole Award, finished second.
