Camping World Truck Series regular Dakoda Armstrong joins RCR for his first of five Nationwide Series appearances of the 2013 season.

In addition to competing in Saturday's event, the 21-year-old driver will also pilot an RCR entry at Charlotte (May 25), Chicagoland (July 21), Kentucky (Sept. 21) and a fifth race to be named later. Saturday's Royal Purple 300 will mark Armstrong's second-career Nationwide Series appearance, and first start at the 1.5-mile facility. The rookie driver's only Nationwide Series appearance came in 2012 during the season-finale event at Homestead-Miami Speedway where he started 19th and finished 25th.-Richard Childress Racing

Stacy Compton’s team is going back into full-time Truck Series competition.

The No. 60 Chevrolet organization announced Dakoda Armstrong Tuesday as the driver for what they hope to be a full, 22-race schedule. They’ll get support from RCR as the Truck Series sophomore hopes to pick up where he left off in 2012; a ride he had with Thorsport was cut short, midway through his rookie campaign due to limited funding. Richard Childress Racing has signed 21-year-old Dakoda Armstrong to drive in five races during the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series season.

Armstrong is scheduled to pilot RCR's No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro at Auto Club Speedway (March 23). He will then drive the No. 21 Camaro at Charlotte Motor Speedway (May 25), Chicagoland Speedway (July 21), Kentucky Speedway (September 21) and a fifth race to be named later. The New Castle, Ind., native has one previous start in the Nationwide Series, qualifying 19th and finishing 25th in the 2012 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.-Richard Childress Racing

Dakota Armstrong had the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the first practice for the Nationwide Series Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

His average of 159.602 mph in the No. 30 was best of the 5 cars that ran 10 consecutive laps on the track for this session. No. 98 Kevin Swindell (158.636 mph), No. 44 John Blankenship (156.881), No. 24 Derek White (154.604) and No. 39 Dexter Stacey (153.340) were the rest on this list.

Dakoda Armstrong will make his first career NASCAR Nationwide Series start at the 1.5-mile oval of Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Armstrong, who has come up through the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) has 22 career starts in NCWTS competition. Dakoda has one top-five, two top-10's and an average finish of 17th in his two years of racing in the NASCAR ranks.-Turner Motorsports

Dakoda Armstrong is the top rookie finisher in the VFW 200.

The No. 98 truck driver started 20th and finished third. This was ahead of the rest of the 2012 Rookie of the Year contenders. He is currently 15th in the 2012 Camping World Truck Series point standings.

In his first Camping World Truck Series start at Chicagoland last season, Dakoda Armstrong didn't get the finish he was hoping for (20th), but knows that a good setup will give him what it takes to get the job done.

The chassis the No. 98 team has prepared is their most successful and utilized Tundra, and it will also have some new logos on the hood and TV panel, as Syngenta and Mudd Advertising come on board. Dakoda Armstrong leads the first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice session at Iowa Speedway.

He ran a quick lap of 134.956 mph in the No. 98 truck. No. 22 Joey Coulter, No. 88 Matt Crafton, No. 6 Justin Lofton and No. 97 Jeff Choquette rounded out the top five of the 38 trucks practicing for the American Ethanol 200. Todd Shafer, in the No. 15 truck, was the slowest.

Dakoda Armstrong is fastest in Happy Hour for the Camping World Truck Series Good Sam Roadside Assistance 200 at Rockingham Speedway.

At 142.354 mph in the No. 98 Toyota, he was the fastest of the 38 trucks out on the track for the final practice. No. 88 Matt Crafton, No. 29 Parker Kligerman, No. 17 Timothy Peters and No. 09 John Wes Townley were the rest of the top 5 on the speed chart. No. 57 Norm Benning was the slowest.
