The victory was earned at Edmonton City Centre Airport in 2008. Missed the CTMP opener to compete in Indianapolis 500 qualifying. Finished 14th at Chaudiere, fifth at ICAR and led the first 268 laps from the pole last week at Edmonton before a wreck relegated him to 13th. Best finish in seven career oval starts is seventh at Barrie Speedway in 2008.-NCATS

Alex Tagliani, from Lachenaie, Quebec, posted a fast lap of 12.514 seconds (71.919 mph) in qualifying Friday evening at the quarter-mile Edmonton International Raceway to earn his fifth career pole.

The first four came on road courses, his specialty driving discipline. Mark Dilley, who led afternoon practice, will join Tagliani on the outside row tonight thanks to his fast qualifying lap of 12.525 (71.856). J.R. Fitzpatrick was third-fastest at 12.559 (71.662). L.P. Dumoulin and Andrew Ranger were the fourth- and fifth-fastest qualifiers, respectively.

Accomplished road racer Alex Tagliani will drive the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang for Team Penske in two 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series road course races.

He will compete in the June 21 event at Road America and again on August 16 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The No. 22 Discount Tire Ford won at both Road America and Mid-Ohio last season with AJ Allmendinger behind the wheel. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Tagliani has made four NNS starts over the course of his racing career, which has included memorable performances in IndyCar, CART, Sports Cars, V8 Supercars and several other forms of motorsports.-Team Penske

Alex Tagliani announced an alliance with defending NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion Scott Steckly for Tagliani to drive a 22 Racing prepared Dodge Challenger for the 2014 season in his return to the series.

An IndyCar/NASCAR and SportsCar racer, Tagliani is a past race winner and Indianapolis 500 pole sitter while 22 Racing has earned three Canadian Tire Series championships with Steckly. Alex Tagliani claimed the pole position for the JuliaWine.com 100 in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 qualifying on Saturday at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres.

(The No. 28 Dodge driver) got around the 1.53-mile street circuit in 67.080 seconds for an average speed of 82.111 mph. The time bettered the previous track record of 67.661 seconds (81.406 mph) set by Andrew Ranger in 2009 by over a half-second. It was the second pole win at the famed track for the IZOD IndyCar Series regular, having last earned the honor in 2009, and the fourth of his Canadian Tire Series career that will cover 16 starts. His last pole win in the series came in June 2011 at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Que.

IZOD IndyCar Series driver Alex Tagliani won the Coors Light Pole Award for the 6th Annual NAPA AUTO PARTS 200 presented by Dodge with a lap of 100.865 seconds, 96.687 mph.

This is the Turner Motorsports No. 30 Chevrolet driver's his first pole in four NASCAR Nationwide Series races. It is his first top-10 start in 2012 and his first pole in three races at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada.
