Ryan Reed (No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang) will make his fourth NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) start at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend.
In his three previous starts, his best finish of 13th came in 2013. In this race last season, Reed started and finished 17th. Last weekend at Phoenix Raceway, Reed earned a career-best third-place starting position for the Chase elimination race. Ryan Reed (No. Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang) finished sixth in Saturday night's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) Ticket Galaxy 200 at Phoenix Int’l Raceway in Avondale, AZ.

He started third on the grid and completed all of the 200 laps run. Reed is ranked sixth in the 2016 NXS Championship standings after this event. Since this was the elimination race for the Chase Round of 8, only the top four continue to the season-ending Chase Championship 4 round at Homestead-Miami Speedway next weekend to compete for the title.

Reed’s finishing result was not stellar, but he stayed out of trouble all afternoon and even cracked the top 10 for a couple of laps.

Ryan Reed will attempt to make his NASCAR Sprint Cup debut this week on a track type that has produced 33 percent of his nine XFINITY top-10s.

Driving for a non-charter team in a fourth Roush-Fenway Racing entry, he needs to qualify first. Reed’s only victory in the XFINITY series came in the season-opener of 2015 at Daytona. He finished fourth in July 2014 and sixth in the summer classic this year on that same track. If he manages to stay out of trouble, Reed could finish well enough to be a solid dark horse, but in three attempts at Talladega SuperSpeedway in the second series he has a best result of 24th and an average of 29th.

This weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, XFINITY Series driver Ryan Reed will get behind the wheel of a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) car for the first time in competition.

He will attempt to make his first NSCS start this weekend behind the wheel of the No. 99 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Fusion. In three NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) starts at Talladega, Reed has never started outside of the top-10 and has led a total of 37 laps.
