Ryan Reed (No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang) has competed at Indianapolis Motor Speedway three times in the NASCAR XFINITY Series.
In his 2014 rookie season, he finished 20th after starting 13th and suffering a mechanical issue near the end of the race. In 2015, he finished 20th. Last year at Indy Reed qualified ninth, which put him starting fifth in the first of two heat races. He finished his heat eighth and lined up 15th for the main event. Ryan Reed (No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang) was credited with a 36th place DNF in Friday night's NASCAR XFINITY Series Alsco 300 at Kentucky Speedway.

He started 21st on the grid and completed 55 laps of the 200 laps run before exiting the race (Overheating). Reed, who entered all 16 NXS races so far this season, slipped from sixth to eighth in the 2017 championship standings after this event.

Saturday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Kentucky Speedway will mark Ryan Reed’s seventh start at the 1.5-mile track.

In his previous six starts, his best finish of seventh came in the fall of 2016. One year ago at Kentucky, he qualified his No. 16 Ford in seventh and had a fast Mustang until a tire issue, followed by a broken part sent Reed and team to the garage for lengthy repairs (finished the night in 29th). Ryan Reed returned to Daytona International Speedway looking for back-to-back victories at the 2.5-mile superspeedway and was laps away from defending his win.

Reed had a fast No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang and was running third and making his move, when he was clipped in the left rear. Reed attempted to complete the overtime laps, but the damage was too severe to continue, resulting in a 31st-place finish.-Roush Fenway Racing

He took home the checkered flag in the 2017 season opener at Daytona. Reed started the race second, took two spins through the grass during the race, but in the end took the lead and held off Cup Series regulars to earn his second win at Daytona. In his seven starts Reed has earned two wins, three top-five and four top-10 finishes. In 2015 he captured his first NXS Series win in the season-opener at Daytona. Ryan Reed leaves the "tricky triangle" with a 14th-place finish in the Pocono Green 250.

He started the race 16th and attempted to use pit strategy to gain an advantage with fuel mileage, but the cautions did not fall in his favor. Five laps after taking the green for the final stage Reed visited pit road for a fuel only stop. He was running 20th and knew at least 10 cars up ahead would have had to pit. That was until the caution came out with 23 laps remaining. The caution changed the strategy and left Reed having to pit for fresh tires. Reed was able to capitalize on the four fresh tires and work his way forward to earn a 14th-place finish.-Roush Fenway Racing

This weekend marks the second visit to Pocono Raceway for the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Last year Ryan Reed (No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang) qualified 23rd and finished 33rd after his right-rear tire went down while he was running in to the top 10.

Prior to that, Reed’s best finish had been 11th in the spring event in 2015.
