Ben Kennedy (No. 2 RTP/Rheem Chevrolet Camaro) tops the speed chart in the Final Practice session for the XFINITY Series US Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway.

He ran a fast lap of 129.929 mph. No. 20 Ryan Preece, No. 22 Sam Hornish Jr., No. 18 Kyle Benjamin and No. 11 Blake Koch round out the top-five of the 40 cars out on the track. The No. 40 Camaro, driven by Stan Mullis, was the slowest in the final practice session.

This weekend, Ben Kennedy (No. 2 Rheem/RTP Chevrolet Camaro) will make his third NASCAR XFINITY Series start at Iowa Speedway.

He has more NXS laps under his belt at Iowa than at any at other track on the circuit. In his two previous starts at the short track, he has a 10th-place finish (2016) and a 20th-place finish (2017). Kevin Manion Motorsports will make its NASCAR K&N Pro Series debut on July 28 at Iowa Speedway with the No. 1 Menards Toyota Camry. Ben Kennedy, a NASCAR XFINITY Series driver, will pilot the entry in the annual combination race for the East and West divisions of the K&N Pro Series.

KMM is led by Kevin "Bono" Manion, a NASCAR championship-winning crew chief with wins in marquee races such as the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400. As a part-time team owner in NASCAR's Whelen Modified divisions and various regional Modified series, Manion scored nine victories and 10 poles, fielding cars for the likes of Ryan Newman, Kyle Larson and Ryan Preece over a nine-year span, including victories at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway.

Ben Kennedy (No. 2 Richmond/Menards Chevrolet Camaro) finished sixth in Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) Overton's 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH.

He started 13th in the lineup and completed all of the 200 laps run. Kennedy, who entered eight of the 17 NXS races so far this season, is currently 25th in the 2017 driver championship point standings after this event.

Daytona Beach native Ben Kennedy (No. 2 Rheem Chevrolet Camaro) will race at the speedway his family built for the first time as a NASCAR XFINITY Series driver this weekend.

Kennedy has three previous starts at Daytona International Speedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, with a best finish of 15th coming in 2014. Although he has yet to race at Daytona in the XFINITY Series, he does have a previous NXS superspeedway start for Richard Childress Racing (RCR) earlier this year, garnering an impressive fourth-place finish at Talladega.-RCR

Kennedy has made three previous starts at the 1.5-mile track in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), but this will be his first NXS start there under the GMS Racing banner. Ben Kennedy (No. 2 Rheem Chevrolet Camaro) finished fourth in Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) Spark Energy 300 at Talladega (AL) Superspeedway.

He started fourth in the lineup, led five laps and completed all of the 113 laps run. Kennedy, who was making his first start of the nine NXS races run so far this season, is currently 31st in the 2017 championship standings after this event.

Ben Kennedy confirms a multi-race NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) schedule with GMS Racing for the 2017 season.

With 12 NXS races already confirmed, Kennedy will pilot the No. 96 Chevrolet Camaro alongside teammate Spencer Gallagher beginning at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May. Kennedy competed last year at GMS Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) where he claimed his first NCWTS victory at Bristol Motor Speedway, locking himself into the inaugural NCWTS Chase. He will be paired with a familiar face from GMS Racing, Jeff Stankiewicz, who will crew chief Kennedy and the No. 96 team. Stankiewicz called the shots for the Daytona Beach-native last year in his first start for GMS Racing at Kansas Speedway, where the duo collected a top-10 finish.

Ben Kennedy will be the latest up-and-coming driver to be given an opportunity when he climbs into the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro for nine NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races, the first of which will be at Talladega Superspeedway this spring.

Kennedy has worked his way up through the NASCAR development ladder. In 2016, he competed full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and secured his first NASCAR national touring series win at Bristol Motor Speedway in August. RCR Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers Austin Dillon and Paul Menard understand the need to develop young talent and continue growing the sport. Both made the decision to give up seat time in the No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro to provide Kennedy the opportunity to gain valuable experience. Dillon, Menard and Kennedy will share the car throughout the 2017 season.-RCR
