Red Horse Racing announced today that 2014 Sunoco Rookie of the Year Ben Kennedy will join the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) team to drive the No. 11 Toyota Tundra.

Kennedy won Pro Truck championship titles in 2009, and followed with a Super Late Model championship and Rookie of the Year honors in 2010. He entered the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in 2011. In 2012, he made history winning the first NASCAR-sanctioned Euro Racecar Series oval track event at Tours Speedway in France. In 2013, he finished fourth in the K&N-East standings with two wins, one pole award, three top-five and nine top-10 finishes, and was crowned the series' Most Popular Driver. Ben Kennedy closed his first full NASCAR Camping World Truck Series campaign with a tie for eighth place in the final standings, ending with a 17th-place finish in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

While Friday night's result wasn't what he wanted, he was left in awe over his season-long achievement -- the 2014 Sunoco Rookie of the Year award. Kennedy added his name to the list of the truck series' rookie award winners, a star-studded group that includes current Sprint Cup Series stars Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Austin Dillon and Carl Edwards. As satisfying as claiming the award was for the driver, the accomplishment and growth wasn't lost on his proud mother, Lesa France Kennedy, International Speedway Corporation CEO and Vice Chairperson of NASCAR. While Kennedy said he'd hoped for more consistency during the course of the season, he never dipped out of the top 10 in standings after the Daytona opener.-NASCAR.com

When Ben Kennedy takes the checkered flag at Homestead-Miami Speedway, he will be the first descendant of NASCAR's founding family to complete a season in one of the sport's top-three series.

Kennedy can be proud of what he's accomplished in his first full season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), as he comes into the final race of the year sitting eighth in the NCWTS Driver Point Standings and has led the Sunoco Rookie of the Year points since the second race of the year.
