The Duck Commander 500 at Texas was one of four consecutive events for which he failed to qualify. He made the show at Talladega SuperSpeedway last week, but fantasy owners will not want to lock him in before time trials.

In his most recent plate race in the Sprint Cup series, Brendan Gaughan finished fourth at Talladega SuperSpeedway after starting 26th.

Unfortunately, that finish came more than a decade ago in 2004 driving for Roger Penske and Gaughan has not raced in the big leagues on this track type since. If he qualifies for the race, however, he has a shot at finishing among the top 30.

Brendan Gaughan has failed to qualify for the past three races and will need to find a little extra speed this week if he wants to make the Toyota Owners 400. There are 45 cars on the preliminary entry list, which means two drivers will go home.

Even if he makes the show this week, it is unlikely Gaughan will be a good fantasy value. The team will have no momentum and should be evaluated only.
