ACS Success: Gaughan holds the NASCAR West Series record on race time at ACS with 1:28:47 set in 2001 when he won the Widetrack Grand Prix 200. In 2003, he started from the pole in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series American Racing Wheels 200 where he led 66 of 100 laps to ultimately finish second behind race-winner Ted Musgrave. The lap of 182.568 mph was the best of the 37 cars completing laps in this session. No. 20 Daniel Suarez, No. 12 Joey Logano, No. 9 William Byron and No. 22 Brad Keselowski made up the rest of the top-five on the speed chart. No. 8 Chevy Camaro driver, Jeff Green, was the slowest.

Brendan Gaughan is set to make his 500th NASCAR career start this weekend in the 300-mile event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. His career spans 20 years, with participation in the top-three national touring series and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.

Gaughan is scheduled to make his seventh start in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at his hometown track during Saturday's Boyd Gaming 300. In six previous XFINITY Series starts at the 1.5-mile tri-oval, he has earned one top-five finish, four top-10 finishes, led 10 laps, averages a starting position of 12.8 and a finishing position of 9.5. He started 18th on the grid, led 16 laps and completed all of the 124 laps run. Gaughan is currently second in the 2017 championship standings, nine points behind leader Ryan Reed after this event.

He is credited with one top-five and three top-10 finishes, 13 laps led, an 18.8 average starting position and a 19.4 average finishing position. Gaughan returns to Daytona to kick off the 2017 season following a career-best fifth-place finish in July 2016. He also qualified for the Daytona 500 in the No. 75 Chevrolet SS with Beard Motorsports. Gaughan was the quickest of six non-charter teams and drivers attempting to make the Great American Race. With a speed of 189.294 mph, Brendan Gaughan was fastest among non-chartered drivers and that means he will race in the Daytona 500 regardless of how he finishes in the qualification races.

This will be Gaughan’s second start in the 500 and his third at Daytona International Speedway. His best result came in February 2004 when he finished 19th for Penske / Jasper.

Brendan Gaughan will attempt to make his second Daytona start in three years in the unchartered entry of Mark Beard.

Gaughan most recently made his way into the 2015 Coke Zero 400 driving for Jay Robinson. He remained on the lead lap and finished 28th, beating out one-third of the field in the process. His best result on this track came in 2004 driving the No. 77 Penske/Jasper car when he lost one lap but finished 19th.

Brendan Gaughan said he will drive the Chevrolet Michael McDowell wheeled to a 15th-place finish for Leavine Family Racing in last year’s (Daytona 500).

The car owner is Mark Beard of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, a former driver and team owner in the Midwest-based ARCA series who had a couple of Xfinity starts during the 1980s. "Jay Robinson, the man I drove for a couple of years ago at Premium Motorsports, called me in the middle of the Christmas break and said a friend of his was trying to do a deal and run the 500," said Gaughan. "They bought the old Leavine car, they’ve hired ECR to do motors — real racing motors — and they asked if I would be interested. So it’s got Richard Childress motors, and I’m going to have a Richard Childress pit crew — my guys — and so we’re going to the Daytona 500 and see if we can qualify."

Richard Childress Racing (RCR) will operate five entries out of its XFINITY Series stable. The No. 2 and No. 3 Chevrolets in the 2017 XFINITY Series will include multiple drivers.

Brandon Jones and Brendan Gaughan return with full-time driving duties of the No. 33 and No. 62 Chevrolets, respectively, and will compete for the XFINITY Series driver championship. Jones and veteran crew chief Nick Harrison will be paired together, while Gaughan returns with his long-time crew chief Shane Wilson for their 12th season together. In 2017, RCR will welcome back the storied No. 21 entry with Daniel Hemric behind the wheel. Hemric and two-time NASCAR championship winning crew chief Danny Stockman will work together as Hemric competes for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors and the XFINITY Series driver championship.-Richard Childress Racing

He is credited with one top-five and two top-10 finishes, coupled with an 11.4 average starting position and a 14.8 average finishing position.
