On May 5th at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC, 12 drivers were formally announced as the NASCAR Next Class of 2015, a group of up-and-coming talent that joins the industry program aimed at spotlighting NASCAR’s emerging stars.

Drivers must be between the ages of 15-25, have tangible and expressed goals in eventual competition in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and demonstrate the potential to realize that goal. Each driver in NASCAR Next must be actively competing in a NASCAR touring or weekly series. At 17 years old, making only his seventh K&N Pro Series East start, Kyle Benjamin, driver of the No. 27 Eibach Ford, raced side-by-side with William Byron, driver of the No. 9 Liberty University Chevrolet, with less than 30 laps remaining.

But the pressure didn’t break him. Benjamin was able to hold off Byron on the last restart and went to score his first career win in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East taking the checkered flag in the PittLite 125 Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway. The win was the first in seven career starts in the series and also the third different winner in as many races this season. Benjamin, who is a Roush Fenway development driver, won by 0.910-seconds over Byron who entered the race as the most recent winner in the series at Greenville Pickens last month.

Kyle Benjamin, the youngest race winner in ARCA Series history and a development driver for seven-time NASCAR championship-winning organization Roush Fenway Racing, will run a full-season slate of NASCAR K&N Pro Series East races in 2015.

He will pilot a No. 27 Ford Fusion out of his family's race shop in Easley, S.C. Kevin Reed will serve as crew chief for the team. Though 2015 will be his first full season competing in a NASCAR-sanctioned series, Benjamin is familiar with the K&N East division. In his first K&N East start, he started and finished third at Dover in 2013. He started the No. 17 Ford 10th in the lineup for the Mobile ARCA 200. He is currently 10th in the 2014 ARS point standings.

The last time Kyle Benjamin made his second career start at an ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards track, he won.

This week, he will visit Mobile International Speedway – the same track he made his ARCA debut a year ago. It’s his first race in his driver development program through Roush Fenway and the Roulo Brothers Racing Ford. Benjamin will work with Roulo Brothers for several races this season. He made eight starts last year and had an average finish of 7.3. He had six top 10 finishes. He signed with Roulo Brothers just last month. He's too young to race at Daytona International Speedway, so he had to wait until this week to make his season debut.-ARCA Racing News
