Ruben Pardo dominated the NASCAR Mexico Series season opener at Phoenix International Raceway Friday, leading a sweep of the top three spots in the Toyota 120 by HO Speed Racing.

He led the final 28 laps en route to his seventh career win. Earlier in the day, he drove the No. 15 Citizen/Potosinos Toyota to a record lap at the one-mile track. He broke his own track mark, set last year. Pardo held off a late charge from teammate Luis Felipe Montaño in the No. 87 Aeropostale/Integra Toyota. Teammate and car owner Hugo Oliveras (No. 11 Toyota) also secured a podium finish. Rogelio López, who presented one of the biggest challenges to Pardo during the race, slipped back to fourth at the finish, while José Luis Ramírez rounded out the top five.

He posted a series track record lap of 126.121 mph, 28.544 seconds, around the one-mile paved oval. No. 11 Hugo Oliveras, No. 2 Abraham Calderon, No. 28 Ruben Rovelo and No. 6 Rogelio Lopez round out the rest of the top five in the line-up for tonight's event.

After being locked out of Victory Lane throughout the entire 2013 NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series season, Ruben Pardo returned to his winning ways this season, scoring two wins on the year to compliment his six top fives and 10 top 10s.

The Mexico City driver won the Queretana 200 on May 25th to earn his first victory since Oct. 28, 2012. His next win came during the first race of the Desafío, the Chihuahua 240 on Sept. 7, where he survived four late-race restarts, including a green-white-checkered finish.-NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series

Prior to the Chihuahua 240 NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series event, Rubén Pardo said he felt like the .625-mile oval at El Dorado Speedway was like his home track. He certainly raced like it on Sunday.

The Mexico City, Mexico, native survived four late-race restarts to win his second victory of the season in a green-white-checkered finish. It was the second career victory at El Dorado for Pardo, who won the series' initial visit to the track in October 2012. In three career events, Pardo has two wins, three top fives and an average finishing position of 1.33. The Chihuahua 240 marked the first event of the five race Desafio. Daniel Suárez takes a one-point lead over Pardo, 1051 to 1050, heading into the Potosina 200 at the Autódromo Potosino in San Luis Potosí on Sept. 21.
