Turner Motorsports, which fields three teams in the Nationwide Series and three teams in the Camping World Truck Series will make its debut in the NSCS with veteran and legend, Bill Elliott.

Elliott, who has accumulated 44 series wins over the course of his career, will drive the No. 50 Walmart Chevrolet in conjunction with the company's 50th birthday celebration. Elliott has made 59 career NSCS starts at DIS, accumulating four wins, 15 top-fives, 24 top-10s and five poles. He has an average starting position of 17.4, coupled with an average finishing position of 15.6. His last win at Daytona came in 2001 after starting fifth while driving for Ray Evernham.-Turner Motorsports

Turner Motorsports announced today that Trent Owens will serve as crew chief of the No. 50 Walmart Chevrolet with driver Bill Elliott in the team’s NSCS debut at Daytona International Speedway in July.

Owens currently calls the shots for Turner Motorsports’ No. 30 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) entry and recently led the team to victory in the 2012 season-opener at DIS. The goal for Elliott is to qualify and compete at the Coke Zero 400. He will also visit Walmart stores with his show car before select race. Walmart’s sponsorship of the No. 50 entry at DIS was announced in January as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.-Turner Motorsports

Phoenix Racing announced that Landon Cassill will handle the driving duties for the team in this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stop at Auto Club Speedway.

Cassill replaces 1988 Cup champion Bill Elliott, who had started all four races for the James Finch-owned team this season. The team is 26th in car owner points, safely inside the top35, thanks to finishes of 12th, 23rd, 30th and 29th by Elliott.-SceneDaily.com

Bill Elliott, driving for Phoenix Racing, was one of three drivers who earned a guaranteed starting in the Daytona 500 through qualifying Sunday at Daytona International Speedway.

The top three non-top-35 qualifiers on Sunday were locked into the field based on qualifying speed if they don’t have a good finish in the qualifying races Thursday. Front Row Motorsports’ Travis Kvapil and Nemco Motorsports’ Joe Nemechek also locked themselves into the field, which is set by qualifying speeds during time trials and through the 150-mile qualifying races next Thursday.-SceneDaily.com

NASCAR champion Bill Elliott will pilot the No. 09 Phoenix Racing entry for a limited NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule beginning with the Daytona 500, team owner James Finch confirmed on Monday.

"Hopefully, he will run 18 races, maybe more, depending on sponsorship," Finch said. Finch said the team will test this week at Daytona International Speedway in preparation for Speedweeks in February. Nick Harris will serve as Elliott’s crew chief. The Chevrolets will be powered with Hendrick motors. Elliott, 55, amassed 44 wins over his 35-year Cup career. Since 2007, he has been a regular in the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford.-FOXSports.com

Ford Customer Service Division brands Motorcraft and Quick Lane -- along with Wood Brothers Racing and Bill Elliott -- are auctioning the "Fired Up for a Cure" firesuit and helmet from the 2010 NASCAR Design Contest to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Designed by 8-year old Carson Luther, of Wildwood, Mo., the firesuit and helmet that Elliott wore at the NASCAR event at Charlotte Motor Speedway in October will be awarded to the highest bidder with all the proceeds going to JDRF. Both items are currently up for auction and will remain so until 5 p.m. ET on Jan. 21.

With a lineup featuring former Sprint Cup Series champions, last year's Chase field, former outstanding rookies, along with previous winners at Daytona, NASCAR announced the list of eligible competitors for the February 12, 2011 Budweiser Shootout at Daytona.

Bill Elliott made the list as the winner of the 1988 Cup Series Championship, as the winner of the 1987 Daytona 500, winner of the 1991 July race at Daytona and as the winner of the 1987 Shootout.

Bill Elliott will be behind the wheel of the James Finch's Phoenix Racing No. 09 Chevrolet for the Daytona and possibly the first five 2011 events.

Elliott will at least run the Daytona 500 on this car. Finch says he is now not selling the team and hopes to be back full time in 2011.-jayski.com

Bill Elliott and the crew of the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion battled back from adversity in the season-ending Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway to score the team’s best finish of the year.

Elliott and the team overcame damage to both front fenders of their Ford Fusion. The second incident forced an unscheduled green-flag pit stop that put them a lap down at one point, but they were able to rejoin the lead lap and come home 15th.-Wood Brothers Racing

Crew chief Donnie Wingo and driver Bill Elliott have some unfinished business from Charlotte to take care of.

Charlotte was the first race that Wingo and Elliott worked together, but an electrical problem in the opening laps kept them from seeing the full potential of their car. Wingo and Elliott are reunited this week and Elliott is driving the same Ford that rookie Trevor Bayne drove at Texas (finished 17th in his NSCS debut) and was 2nd only to Kasey Kahne, in green flag passes, according to NASCAR’s loop data. Donnie Wingo has been named crew chief of the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion.

Wingo most recently served at the crew chief for Roush Fenway Racing’s No. 6 Sprint Cup team with driver David Ragan. During his 27-year NASCAR career, he has worked with drivers ranging from Dick Trickle, Ricky Rudd, Jimmy Spencer, Juan Pablo-Montoya, Jamie McMurray and Morgan Shepherd. The Wood Brothers racing team and crew chief David Hyder have mutually agreed to go their separate ways, effective immediately.

Team co-owner Eddie Wood said Hyder, who has been the crew chief of the No. 21 Ford since August, 2008, played a key role in helping the team work through one of the worst slumps in its 60-year history in NASCAR. Wood said he expects to name an interim crew chief later this week. Driver Bill Elliott and the No. 21 team will be back on the track next week for the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.-Wood Brothers Racing
