Ron Fellows will once again be behind the wheel of the No. 33 Canadian Tire Chevrolet SS for the Sprint Cup Series’ Cheez-It 355 at Watkins Glen International this weekend.

Fellows, who qualified 25th and finished 22nd earlier this season at the road course in Sonoma, returns to Watkins Glen following a successful two-day test last week with the Circle Sport Racing team. In his 14 previous NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at The Glen, Fellows has two runner-up finishes, but has captured victories at the 2.45-mile road course in Nationwide and Truck Series competition.

Ron Fellows will drive for JR Motorsports in the Aug. 17 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

He will drive the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro sponsored by AER Manufacturing, a world leader in engine re-manufacturing for the past 60 years. A former winner for JRM, Fellows was victorious in the No. 5 Chevrolet on Aug. 2, 2008, at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. He holds four career Nationwide Series wins, earning three at Watkins Glen International. Along with those victories, Fellows has 12 top-fives, 15 top-10s and two poles in only 24 career starts.-JR Motorsports

Ron Fellows will begin his race toward his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory when he pilots the No. 33 Circle Sport Chevrolet in the upcoming road course events.

Canadian Tire Corporation will be the primary sponsor for Fellows along with associate sponsorship from Texas-based AER Manufacturing in the Sprint Cup Series races at Sonoma Raceway (June 23) and Watkins Glen International (August 11). Fellows has six NASCAR victories to his credit in NASCAR Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series competition. He is intent on joining the list of 23 drivers to win a race in each of NASCAR’s three major touring series.

He still holds the distinction of being the senior victor at the facility, winning at the age of 41 years, nine months and 10 days old on July 8, 2001. Ron Fellows will return to the seat he’s occupied for the last four years in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, as JR Motorsports announced he will compete in all three road-course races this season in the No. 5 Chevrolet.

Those races include Road America (Elkhart Lake, Wis.) on June 23, Watkins Glen International (Watkins Glen, N.Y.) on Aug. 11, and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) on Aug. 18. Fellows is a former winner for JR Motorsports, prevailing victorious in JRM’s No. 5 Chevrolet on Aug. 2, 2008, at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Ron Fellows leads the first practice session for the Nationwide Series NAPA Auto Parts 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

His lap of 102.129 mph in the No. 5 was quickest of the 48 cars out on the track for this session. No. 9 Owen Kelly (practicing for Marcos Ambrose who is in Michigan), 12-Alex Tagliani, 30-Boris Said and 22-Jacques Villeneuve were the rest of the top 5 on the speed chart. Chase Miller in the No. 42 was the slowest.

Road course racing veteran Ron Fellows will get behind the wheel of the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet for Tommy Baldwin Racing at Watkins Glen International August 14th.

Dave Blaney will pilot the No. 35 Tommy Baldwin Racing Chevrolet for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen. Fellows made his first Sprint Cup start in 1995 at Watkins Glen International. Since his NASCAR debut, the Canadian native made 56 starts in NASCAR’s top-three series, including 22 starts in the NSCS, and tallied four NASCAR Nationwide Series and two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series wins.

Ron Fellows will drive the No. 5 Chevrolet in NASCAR Nationwide Series events at Watkins Glen (Aug. 13) and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Aug. 20) with Canadian Tire as the team’s primary sponsor for both events.

Fellows finished second at Road America on June 25th for JR Motorsports. The No. 5 Canadian Tire team will give JRM three entries in both of the remaining road-course events. Aric Almirola will drive the No. 88 Chevrolet in both races. Ron Fellows is a past winner of the Montreal event at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 2008.

With the win, he was part of NASCAR history, as he became the first Canadian to win a NASCAR event on Canadian soil. He qualified sixth and led seven laps en route to his fourth series victory. The win was also the first road-course victory for JRM. In three starts at the 2.71-mile road course, Fellows has one win and two top-five finishes.
