Pelicans waive G/F Josh Childress.
He is best known for having one of the worst contracts in the past decade when the Suns signed him to a five-year, $33 million deal back in 2010. Childress had a grand total of 24 minutes with the Pelicans this year and is unlikely to be picked up unless a team gets a bad case of injuries. Fri, Dec 13, 2013 05:44:00 PM

Date:

Josh Childress has reached an agreement to join the New Orleans Pelicans.

Childress only averaged 1.0 points per game in 14 contests with the Nets last year, so this news shouldn't have fantasy owners rushing to their waiver wires.

The Wizards are expected to release unsigned free agents Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Xavier Silas and Josh Childress.

No surprises here. They were training camp invites and their deals weren't guaranteed. Childress has a chance at catching a 10-day contract or two this season with another team, but it's not guaranteed.

Josh Childress will join the Wizards in training camp, according to HoopsHype.

Childress played minimal minutes in 14 games for the Nets last year, averaging 1.0 points and just over seven minutes per game. Even if he makes the regular roster for the Wizards, don't expect him to contribute anything fantasy-wise.

Free agent G/F Josh Childress will work out for the Cavs and Spurs.

Childress hasn't been a true rotation player in the NBA since 2007-08, before he left for Greek power Olympiacos. He's just getting a light look from the Cavs, who will host him as part of "due diligence" before training camp. The Hornets have also shown some interest.

Free agent G/F Josh Childress is working out for the Hornets.

Childress, always long and athletic at 6'8/210, is still just 30 years old. He appeared in 14 games for the Nets last season, averaging just 7.2 minutes. Childress would be deep swingman depth for the Hornets if he lands a minimum deal.

Free agent Josh Childress has reportedly received "strong interest" from three NBA teams.

Childress played 14 games for the Nets last year after being amnestied by the Suns, and RealGM.com reports that he rejected an offer to return to Greece. He's eager to resume his NBA career and may earn a veteran's minimum deal somewhere, but the 30-year-old forward won't be a fantasy factor no matter where he lands.

Josh Childress hopes to return to the NBA and his representatives have contacted the Timberwolves.

Childress was amnestied by the Suns last summer but he was able to latch on with Brooklyn, where he shot 28.6 percent in 14 appearances. Unfortunately for J-Chill, there is "no sense" that the Wolves are interested in signing him.

Josh Childress is "in the mix" to be signed by the Grizzlies.

Memphis is looking to fill out its roster following Tuesday's trade, and it's possible that Childress could be added as depth on the wing. He hasn't been able to catch on anywhere since the Nets waived him.

The Nets waived Josh Childress on Saturday, at his request.

Childress was crowded out of the rotation by Joe Johnson, Keith Bogans, Jerry Stackhouse and MarShon Brooks, and he'll seek a larger role somewhere else.

Josh Childress' sore foot is no longer an issue, but he's inactive for the Nets on Sunday.

MarShon Brooks has chipped his way back into the rotation, and with Jerry Stackhouse healthy there's no upside for Childress at the moment.

Josh Childress (sore left foot) remains out and will miss Wednesday's game against the Knicks.

Childress hasn't played since Dec. 9 and possesses zero fantasy value in all formats.

Josh Childress will not play on Tuesday due to a sore left foot.

Childress has absolutely no fantasy appeal in any format, and he hasn't played in a game since December 9. Keith Bogans should back up Gerald Wallace at small forward.
Tue, Dec 18, 2012 10:51:00 AM

Josh Childress had his best game of the season on Wednesday with eight points, four rebounds, two assists, a steal, a block and a 3-pointer in 18 minutes off the Nets bench.

Gerald Wallace was out with an ankle injury, which is probably why Childress has a mini breakout performance tonight. But unless you're in a 20-team league or deeper, there's no reason to read too much into this, especially since Wallace isn't expected to be out for long.
Thu, Nov 22, 2012 05:02:00 AM

Josh Childress (ankle) made his regular season debut for the Nets on Friday, playing 26 minutes with just two points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

Childress has turned into an empty calorie guy at this stage of his career, and doesn't warrant any fantasy consideration until further notice.
